Gentle and Beginners Workouts

Does anyone fancy a thread about nice gentle workout videos?

I’m hypermobile, so I’m often carrying an injury and finding ways to exercise around them. I’m mid-fifties, so I’m not really aiming for hour-long plyometrics workouts.

I found Jessica Smith years ago, her account is my safe place to go to.

I found this account GoSimpli when I sprained my ankle and wanted to do some seated workouts. She is a lovely Canadian who was diagnosed with osteoporosis, so her workouts are very safe.

This is a new one for me Improved Health, but her after dinner walks have already become a habit. Lots of strength and indoor walking workouts.

That’s two of us 😅

Sometimes, when I’m doing one of her videos, I have the bright idea of doing all of them in date order 💪

Have you got favourites that you go back to?

Weights - this one is my favourite . The first time I did it, I did a child’s pose at the end and then couldn’t lift my head up off the floor- things had to get better after that😅

And her walking ones, they helped me get into the habit of doing 15-20 minutes walking after breakfast.

@dizzydizzydizzy Have a look at this one Improved Health I found her when I had a sprained ankle and was looking for a seated workout. She has some very gentle workouts. She has just created a new channel for all of her seated workouts, which might be helpful.

@OfMiceandWomen Have just had a Quick Look, but I’ll have a proper look in the morning. I already love the idea of micro workouts, they really add up throughout the day.

I really need to do something. Late 50s and teaching online during Covid at the height of menopause has left me creaking and stiff.
Thanks for posting all this OP, I'm going to take a look tomorrow!

@ASighMadeOfStone Let us know what you find 🙂

@SirChenjins Me too - I’ve got a fairly long list of subscriptions, but I’m always happy to add to it.

@swedex Thank you, that looks like a great place to start - here’s a link if anyone wants to have a look Yes 2 Next

I’ve done my post-breakfast walk with Improved Health. It took a while to build the habit but now I feel a bit weird if I do t do my walk.

Thank you for this thread. Like a few others I am struggling with combination of ill health (covid is shit), menopause and not having done any exercise in ages.

My stamina is absolutely shot so the exercises for over 80s might be the way to go!

I don’t know. Something fun and easy and short! I don’t want to go all in and then be knackered afterwards. I want to build up fitness but it is daunting when I haven’t exercised in so long.

Get Fit with Rick. He has a 10000 step work out, or you can try a mix of videos, all standing if you prefer, with differing step ranges and music themes.
