Hello

Does anyone fancy joining me in trying to tone up by doing planks? I've started today with 3x 20 second planks. I aim to build up to a minute each one over the next few weeks. I'm interested to see the results over a few months.

Join at your own pace, if you can do 3x 5 second ones then join me too!!

After a couple of days getting back into it I'm doing 1min planks. I had one bug after another between December and March (covid was the cherry on top) and besides Pilates I've barely moved since Christmas, diet went entirely to hell etc so I'm just glad to be doing something!

Going for five x 45s. Incan’t do much longer than that but it’s fun to do every few hours. In the past I’ve really noriced a difference after a few weeks. Happy planking!

I started with this then I just added a bit of time the last few days. I'm not strict about it.

I read somewhere that forearm planks are better for toning so I'm doing it that way.

does anybody know if you can feel or sense when you’re not in the correct position? I don’t have any suitably positioned mirrors 😂

I have no idea about position I just go on the fact I can feel my stomach muscles tightening and eventually hurting.

I started with 20secs, one day one lot felt good so I kept going until 25secs. I figured I'd done it once, I could do it again so have done 25 secs since. I suspect that in a day or so I'll be able to increase it again. I tried on my second lot today and got to 27 secs, so I think it just happens.

33,37,41. Ten seconds more than yest. My form was better. I've started a little note on my phone to record them. If I keep it up I could get to 5 minutes in a month!

So my morning plank is waay worse, 22, 5 and 7! Not a pleasant experience straight out of bed, however I did quite like doing something as soon as I got up. But I think I will stick to a night time plank.

I felt the same, after being really chuffed with my first in 6 plank months hitting the 1 min, then the next day really struggling after 30s and having to really push just to get to 50.

I think after the first my muscles where still reeling from being pushed the day before.

I think it's OK though, the muscles were working just as hard even at the shorter time.

I left it more 24 hours for the next lot and managed a minute again, then decided after reading this thread to give a second go about 8 hours later I barely made it to 40s.

I'm going to just listen to my body and be happy with what I manage each day. As I said before it's better then the nothing I was doing in the past 6 months.

we'll all get to our targets eventually.

I've just fine my first two for 60 seconds each. Wasn't as bad as I thought for the first one but the second was hard going from 30 seconds in but really hard for the last 15 seconds.

Managed 2x 40 seconds today. Will aim for a minute each tomorrow

Just got in 2 mins worth however I was really struggling to hold them today. 2x 40 sec and 2 x20.
