Planks everyday for a month - Join me!

Hello

Does anyone fancy joining me in trying to tone up by doing planks? I've started today with 3x 20 second planks. I aim to build up to a minute each one over the next few weeks. I'm interested to see the results over a few months.

Join at your own pace, if you can do 3x 5 second ones then join me too!!

Ive done 2.mins in total today. It's been an exhausting weekend, so I've given myself a bit of slack. Back to it tomorrow.

Thanks @Plankingplanks ! I started today – didn’t time it precisely, but think I managed two of about 45 seconds each.

Hopefully will still be able to walk tomo 😂😄

2mins is impressive!!!

I would like to join but it seems to be killing my arms before getting anywhere near my abs. Not sure if I am doing it wrong or if I need to strenghten my arms first?

Just start by doing as long as you can. There are no rules here. It sounds like maybe you are doing them full armed? I do them on my forearms

@Bubbles254 welcome.

I've been mulling this over and I think when I started my felt the strain. Like @Plankingplanks I do them on my forearms, I make a conscious effort to pull my tummy in. I'm finding that as my position is getting better, my arms and legs are hurting more, so maybe your position is better, your abs may have been stronger than mine to start with.
Keep going.

I did my 3x1 min yesterday. This mornings was interrupted by ddog trying to cuddle in for hugs again. I collapsed at 40 secs (having your face licked is a slight distraction), got straight back up and did an extra 10 secs to make up for it.

I was playing around a bit earlier and did (untimed) for a short while, a plank on my hands and a side plank. I was amazed to find I could do them.

I only held them for around 5 secs, I was just interested to see if I could do them at all. Weirdly, as I'm right handed, my left arm seem stronger than my right.

I also tried lying on my back with my legs in the air, like some kind of beached insect, that went better than I thought as well.

I might try a normal plank, followed by lying on my back and then 1 of each side planks next week each time I do my minute. It might seem less tedious for a while. I suspect I'll be building them up from 20 secs or so again.

Oooh that sounds like something I can do @L1ttledrummergirl might add that in this morning. Are we building up a little exercise programme here?! 🤣

In other news I have just ditched carbs from my diet and immediately lost 4lb in less than a week. It's probably mostly water but I'm taking the win. I'm not really overweight, my BMI is 23 but it has always been more like 20 so to me I'm big!

My stomach definitely looks a lot flatter and more defined. I'm really pleased with that!

Currently attempting to build up the energy to go cycling. I love it once I get out but actually going is the killer!!! 🤣

I went away for 5 days and slacked off a bit, not intentionally, I did the first two days and then holiday mode caught up with me.

Back on it now - I'm giving Advanced mode a go on the plank app. Day 1 was ok, it's 4x 1 min planks - forearms, straight arms, straight arms but wide and reverse. Not so keen on reverse I have to say, I find it really hard not to sag in the middle 🤣

I did 1min 10 seconds this eve. My DS timed me and he didn't tell me my actual time until the very end. I thought I had only done a minute until he showed me his stopwatch!

I'll have to Google side planks- never heard of them until this thread. Yet another positive thing about this thread.

I did 3 at 1 minute. Rest day tomorrow. I haven't had back pain with them at all this week, so something is going better.

Well done all. Glad we are still here! I'm also still here. Had a few days of just doing a few instead of my usual 3 but at least I'm doing them!

Also trucking on. Missed a couple of days so I'm only on day 5 on the app 😳

But tomorrow is a rest day so I can do day 7

There were a couple of horrible planks yesterday though. Side plank with one leg in the air - trying to keep myself straight using only one leg was so hard. Had to do 10 sec at a time.
