Hello

Does anyone fancy joining me in trying to tone up by doing planks? I've started today with 3x 20 second planks. I aim to build up to a minute each one over the next few weeks. I'm interested to see the results over a few months.

Join at your own pace, if you can do 3x 5 second ones then join me too!!

Woo Hoo. That is a whole month of planks completed. Only missed 2 days!!

People up for carrying on?

Up for carrying on????
100%!

Felt rotten today so none for me but I'll be giving it my all tomorrow I hope!

L1ttledrummergirl · 18/05/2023 22:31

Omg @florenceandthemac, that's a mad amount of time. I can't imagine holding one for that long.

@halfpasteleven I'm planning to carry on. I may hate the buggers, and feel as though I'm struggling but they are making a difference to my middle.

I think I'm going to have to learn some more stretching exercises for my back and legs, the (newly discovered) muscles are so stiff.

florenceandthemac · 19/05/2023 08:16

3 minute plan done, I'm back in the game 🙌🏼
I had no choice... the strength class I go to added it in as a station today. I was actually delighted as it's got it done nice and early for me!
What's everybody planking today?

xsquared · 19/05/2023 08:41

I'll plank after my hill rep session.
I always find it harder planking after a run as opposed to first thing in the morning, which I guess is not surprising.

Plankingplanks · 19/05/2023 08:55

3 mins for me first thing this morning, but in 3x 1 minute sessions. Always find it easier first thing.

Bit fed up, been trying to lose weight. Stopped alcohol, cut my food back to the absolute min I can have (1 slice of toast and then a main meal everyday) and upped my cycling and this morning I have put on weight!!!!

I do one minute in the morning, one mid afternoon and one before bed. Today is gym day as well so I'll have an hour of cardio and some weights as well. Its amazing how quickly your fitness improves.

L1ttledrummergirl · 19/05/2023 09:06

I started exercising in the gym in February. I then gained 2kg up until a few weeks ago. This week for the first time I've lost a little weight, so I hope it us now going in the right direction.
They say it can take a few weeks to show though when you diet.

AutisticLegoLover · 19/05/2023 12:00

Just restarting today.

halfpasteleven · 19/05/2023 22:59

Managed 2x 30 seconds each.
Still time of the month, and I had to take painkillers, so I'm happy with that.

L1ttledrummergirl · 20/05/2023 01:11

Well done. I did my 3, still at a minute.

AHugeTinyMistake · 20/05/2023 11:59

Still on the app, started a bit behind you guys as I wanted to wait until 1st May.

2 min 10 the main plank was today, that was a struggle ngl, I was gasping and shaking by the end but I knew I could hang on once the countdown got to 20 secs. Just grim determination 🤣

Plankingplanks · 20/05/2023 13:14

3x 1 min today after a 16 mile bike ride. Pretty happy with that tbh!!

Plankingplanks · 21/05/2023 20:43

Only managed 1 min today. Been up since 4am and I'm exhausted.

I did 3 x 1 min yesterday. I've decided that Sundays is a rest day, so no gym, no planks. My body is responding better to the rest.

halfpasteleven · 21/05/2023 22:36

1x45 and 1x40 today so happy enough with that.
50 seconds is getting nearer and feels more obtainable!

Plankingplanks · 22/05/2023 21:51

Well done all. I'm having a hell of a few days but did 3x40 secs tonight.

I've just done my third plank of the day. 3 x 1 minute again.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 22/05/2023 23:42

I’m still going but have given up on the app after it got to three minutes. It’s like I have a mental block, it just seems so long! I got like this at week five of couch to 5K, but was fine after repeating week four - but the app won’t let you repeat days. 😡

AutisticLegoLover · 23/05/2023 09:55

Please could someone recommend an app for this? The one I've got is rubbish.

L1ttledrummergirl · 23/05/2023 11:57

I just set the timer on my phone and hold the position until it reaches the time. Although I'm holding for a minute, I'm getting back pain, so I think my position needs some work. That's my next focus.

Would you like me to send DH around to appraise your position and provide some helpful advice @L1ttledrummergirl ? I find it most helpful 😠

1x 1min, 2 x 45 seconds tonight. That will do for today.

L1ttledrummergirl · 23/05/2023 21:41

Thanks @Plankingplanks I asked dd to appraise the situation this afternoon, after being told my bum was too high, then too low, my feet were too far apart, then too close together, we managed to find a position that didn't hurt.

Dh hid in the other room... 🤣

Plankingplanks · 23/05/2023 22:50

@L1ttledrummergirl DH sounds like a good man... Wanna swap? 😂

@AutisticLegoLover i just use my stopwatch and do what I can. It is too much pressure for me to have to use an app!!

I like a good app but could do that too. One 30 second one done this morning. Will do more after the school run.
