I've just done W1 R1 so am at the beginning. Anyone else want running friend/s? A couple of rl friends fancy doing it but I bet there's people here that have been thinking about it like I did for a while?
I know there's plenty on MN already doing it but want to chat with newbies like myself. Spur each other on 🏃‍♀️👟👟

@Motorcycleemptyness 5.30am, wow, that's dedication! Good luck!

DCINightingale · 26/04/2023 07:15

Good morning everyone! Seems like people are making fantastic progress, and that definitely inspires me to keep going.

W7R2 done just now. 3.32km covered in the 25 mins but my goodness it was hard work today! I had the added pressure of trying to get home before the bin lorry which I spotted going round the village, and I realised I had forgotten to put our bin out. Doh! Next run on Friday.

SupremeCommanderServalan · 26/04/2023 07:50

well done to those at the other end. W1R2 just completed.

I have Jo Whiley as my person, and because i seem incapable of keeping count of the runs, I find myself muttering 'come on Jo, that must be it now' when I'm not even at the halfway point.

DCINightingale · 26/04/2023 08:17

@SupremeCommanderServalan well done on completing run 2 today! When are you planning your next one?

I am exactly the same, mentally shouting in my head "that must be a minute done, come on!!!"

bailarbailar · 26/04/2023 08:44

W8R2 for me this morning. Feels like a v long gap since I was last able to get out on Saturday. I had a v late night last night and little sleep but oddly today felt easier than last time!
Keep going all!

Oodieandacuppatonightplease · 26/04/2023 08:47

We obviously all have our routines! I find when he says one more minute to go my brain says ‘right you can stop now’ which isn’t helpful!
still struggling, did w5r1 this morning but terribly slow and feel as though I’m never going to be able to do this. Seen it’s 2 x 8 minutes next time…
anyway, onwards and upwards!!!

SupremeCommanderServalan · 26/04/2023 08:56

I'm planning on doing Mon, Wed, and Fri for my runs, which means if I deviate at all then my weekend will have to take the hit.

Motorcycleemptyness · 26/04/2023 17:35

Checking back in to say I did it! 5:30am and I was (very slowly) jogging round the local football stadium! I felt like crap for the first two runs, kept going though and felt very smug after so I might try and do the same on Friday.

@DCINightingale hope you got back in time for the bin lorry, nightmare!

APurpleSquirrel · 26/04/2023 17:36

Well done everyone!

Yesterday I repeated W1R1 & managed about 2.5mins of running which is a huge achievement for me - probably be some weeks before I can actually complete Wk1 but it's progress.
We're away this weekend but am planning to carry on if possible whilst I'm there.

Motorcycleemptyness · 26/04/2023 17:37

@Oodieandacuppatonightplease i’m so slow too, but i figured the speeding up comes when you’ve nailed actually just doing it? I just keep telling myself that as slow as I am, I’m still going faster than when I’m sat on the aforementioned couch!

Flashinggreen · 26/04/2023 18:10

Evening all, I’ve found you after completing W1R1. My friend suggested this morning we do it. I had my HRT check today and I’ve gained yet more weight so it spurred me on to just do it.

I felt the silences though and was looking to find out if you can play music over the app and someone up thread said you can listen to podcasts and Spotify, but I’m rubbish at Spotify. Would bbc sounds work?

Well done all I think you’ll be the little bit of motivation I need to keep going.

APurpleSquirrel · 26/04/2023 18:14

@Flashinggreen I have an iPhone & start a playlist going before opening the C25k app - it then plays over the music, quietening it when they talk & restoring it when they don't.

bakewellbride · 26/04/2023 18:47

Hi, can I please join? I completed the programme a few years ago when my first child was a toddler and now here I am again having had another baby! She's 1 now. My next run on Friday will be W2R3. Smile

Flashinggreen · 26/04/2023 19:13

@APurpleSquirrel thanks I’ll try that next time

DoINeedToDoThis · 26/04/2023 19:22

I use an app called "Get Running", the woman's voice is lovely and encouraging. I use Map my Run to track my route and listen to Amazon Music at the same time 👍

Swapshopped · 26/04/2023 23:02

I’ve just started this week too! Did w1r2 today. I can’t begin to think about it all stepping up next week… I’m practically counting the 60 seconds down! I really need to persist though- I’ve put on so much weight and am really unfit.

I play Spotify over the app, it quietens down for the app voice over.

good luck!!

beguilingeyes · 27/04/2023 06:59

The first couple of weeks are definitely the worst. I was counting the seconds in my head too ('hurry up Jo!').
Jo Whiley is definitely the best coach IMO. She's so encouraging.

upandoutofbed · 27/04/2023 09:35

Welcome new people!

Just finished W3R2 but think I'm going to have to take a step back for a bit 😭😭. The last few runs my knees have felt niggly and they were really painful today. Suspect that trying to 'run through it' may not be the right thing. Gah, so frustrated. I know a few of you are returning to running...has anyone experienced something like this and got past it? Suspect it's due to weight gain and deconditioning and that I should be focusing on muscle strengthening right now. Boo hoo!

beguilingeyes · 27/04/2023 18:25

Have you got the right shoes. I had knee pain at the beginning and got my gait analysed and bought some proper running shoes. No more knee pain. I was about 15 stone when we started.

upandoutofbed · 27/04/2023 21:20

@beguilingeyes thanks. I had my gait analysed back when I used to run and have some decent running shoes, but I guess they are 4 years old now so may need replacing! I also have some barefoot trainers that I've used for walking but never tried running in - I may give those a go next before forking out on anything new.

Jo Whiley is my favourite too!

bailarbailar · 28/04/2023 09:30

w8R3 for me today. Nearly there!!! Felt a bit harder today but then it was raining and I also went slightly slightly faster as I managed the whole 4km in 28mins rather than 3.8km ha ha
Keep going all!

Amazing!!!! Running for all that time in one go is such an achievement!

W5r2 for me today, and once again my Fitbit recorded a walk. I’m just stuck being that tortoise but hopefully will get there one day.

happy long weekend all, your posts do spur me on so thank you.

bailarbailar · 28/04/2023 14:07

Thank you @Oodieandacuppatonightplease
Well done on your run!
Hope everyone had a good next run

bakewellbride · 28/04/2023 20:05

Just completed week 2. 👍🏻

Motorcycleemptyness · 28/04/2023 21:02

I backed out of my run today which has made me feel pretty rubbish, and I hope it isn’t the beginning of the end! I am going to try and run tomorrow (and I also booked onto a spin class) so I will see how far I get in the morning.

Annoyed at myself as it’s been a horrible work week and it would have been good to finish the week on some endorphins from my run.
