Maintaining the Six Pack Revolution

I’m half way through and getting good results so far - but I’m worried about how I’ll maintain the weight loss once it’s over - especially as my wave finishes just before Christmas!

Those who’ve done it before, how did you find it once you’d finished? I notice a few people tend to come back at a later date to do another wave - the coaches say that’s because it obviously works so well but I wonder if it’s because it’s so hard to maintain!

@cheeseisthebest I think stir fries are probably the most interesting thing you can make with those limited ingredients, to be fair!

Potty! How much weight did you lose in the end?

Pottymouth83 · 20/02/2023 17:09

I lost just over a stone.

I made loads of similar jokes @cheeseisthebest and I didn't get told off!!

I got mildly told off for calling them arbiters of torture when they tried to persuade us not to drink coffee.

cheeseisthebest · 20/02/2023 18:35

Haha! Mostly my group is nice and quite lighthearted.

How can I motivate myself to get back into the exercise? I keep finding all the excuses!!

Pottymouth83 · 20/02/2023 19:12

Just keep thinking about your end photo and how much you want them to look amazing!

Tomorrow - you can do it! Let us know how you go. It's tough though I have to do my dailies and abs first thing otherwise I know I won't do it.

Looking at all those month in photos tonight - amazing but mine are still looking the same.

Posting a huge chocolate cake ! bet you were in serious trouble for that one.

BeckyBoo841 · 21/02/2023 07:34

Hey @cheeseisthebest Friday is HALF WAY!! Yay. Get yourself there and then you're on the downhill slide to home. You can do it. Get back in there!

Catspyjamas17 · 21/02/2023 07:41

With super strict diets/exercise plans you will always put the weight back on if you can't sustain the way of eating or exercise regime. Whatever you do has to be long term and sustainable for you. Everyone will lose weight with severely restricted eating combined with exercise. Anything that requires restaurants or family to make special meals (unless you have allergies) sets off the fad klaxon for me.

Parisj · 21/02/2023 08:07

I am just checking in to say I did the September wave, I have kept it going now the habits are installed and my photos (I just do them from time to time, I haven't done any more waves) are getting better and better, way better than my final photo was, its really motivating. The first time I had a really great photo I couldn't believe it, but now that one has been left for dust. I lost 9kg and that's stayed off. I exercise 2 x week and do a big set of abs and dailies 2 x week. Eating out is fine whether I decide to flex or not and I still have a keen appetite but no cravings, don't feel remotely deprived, just choosing to follow this way of eating. Shakes are helpful occasionally, like last night was such a rush and instead of stressing about fitting in a meal I just had a shake on the way to my dms. This way of eating and routine suits me. I wanted to make a permanent change. I hope you find it helpful too.

cheeseisthebest · 21/02/2023 08:38

Thanks everyone, catspyjamas it's not a super strict way of eating, the food is lovely.

Pottymouth83 · 21/02/2023 09:21

Yes, I agree with @Parisj - I finished the wave in December and I have managed to maintain my weight loss. It's been a lot easier than I expected. I was really worried when I finished that if I looked at a biscuit, I'd immediately put on 10lbs but it's not been like that at all. If I want a treat, I'll have one and just adjust what I eat the rest of the day. I also have the odd blow-out day if I'm going out for dinner, or a birthday or something. As long as I'm sensible most of the time, it's fine.

@Catspyjamas17 I get what you're saying but basically, when you're doing the programme, their argument is that they've got 75 days to give you the best, most amazing results possible and to get that you've got to be super strict. Afterwards, though, you can just be sensible. What I've learnt from it is that if you eat balanced, real food (not processed stuff), and sensible portion sizes, it's really easy to be healthy. Eating little and often is so much better for you - it balances your sugar levels throughout the day and you don't get too hungry in between, which for me, would make me reach for chocolate and sweets. One of the things the programme founder, Scott, says is that if you eat real food, you don't need to calorie count - it's so true - I have no idea how many calories I'm eating and I've never been in better shape!!

OP posts:
Catspyjamas17 · 21/02/2023 09:32

I eat balanced real food, not processed stuff, loads of green veg and don't calorie count (I have used Nutracheck a lot to check the nutritional balance of my diet), I had 700+ active minutes on Fitbit last week which included three and a half hours at the gym doing weights and cardio plus a 5k run, average daily calorie burn over 2,600 and am still 13 stone and 5'7", size 14 clothes. Have been doing this amount of exercise (plus usually two yoga classes a week) since November and am really enjoying it but in terms of weight I've actually gained five pounds.

Am bloody fit now and feel healthy but I'd love to lose two stone. I lost a stone and a half in eight weeks doing Very Fast 800 in 2021 but I put the weight back on again in a few months. Am just loathe to do anything I can't sustain. I've been trying to lose this extra weight since 2009.

Pottymouth83 · 21/02/2023 09:55

@Catspyjamas17 sounds like you're super healthy - totally understand your frustration at not being able to lose weight.

When you say you eats lots of green veg; what if you reduced that and ate more protein? On the SPR, the advice is to have no more than a handful of 'healthy carbs' (fruit and veg) with every meal/snack.

I tried the 5:2 diet a few years back - the first diet I've ever tried (until I did SPR). It worked brilliantly but I was soooo hungry and weak on the fasting days and like you, I just put the weight back on.

BeckyBoo841 · 21/02/2023 10:06

Hey @Catspyjamas17 that sounds a bit like me. I learned on the Six Pack revolution that I was eating WAY TOO MUCH things I thought were healthy (and are!) but in massive servings. My main problem I see now was fats, I thought if it was nuts or seeds or olive oil I could go mad, but I can see how wrong that was now. So it's just a case of upping protein, keeping good carbs to a sensible portion (a handful) and really use only a little fat - be it half an avocado or some olive oil - not a handful of nuts as I used to!

It gives you a nutrition reset. I can already totally see how going back to normal afterwards I will keep so many of these lessons and include them in family meals going forward. FWIW I feed 2 kids and a partner and they eat with me, just that kids put ketchup on their fish wrap and i don't.

Catspyjamas17 · 21/02/2023 10:10

@Pottymouth83 Thank you - I think I just eat a bit too much of everything, even green veg, at times. I just really enjoy my food and enjoy eating and the issue is probably that slightly (not massively) overeating actually feels comforting rather than "Oof, I'm so full." I definitely eat too fast at times too - was much worse when doing Fast 800 though, I practically inhaled it. Slowing down and being more mindful would be good.

A few years ago I got up to 205lbs though - at least I've been nowhere near that weight for seven years and somewhere between 165 and 188.

Rocketpants50 · 23/02/2023 21:40

Did anyone watch the video - 2 hours! Think I need a very brief (5 bullet points will do) summary. I love parts of this plan but not sure it suits someone like me who can't just pop to the toilet or eat every 2 hours! Last week being at home with the children it was easy, decided if I didnt work I would probably be bored but skinny. Its has been a massive reset for me though.

I to eat too fast and my portions are too big but I love fruit.

BeckyBoo841 · 24/02/2023 06:18

I watched some parts of it. It's made me determined to give it everything for these last 5 weeks! So woke up much more focused this morning and looking forward to getting back on track.

My photos are starting to give me good results at last (side on anyway, the front I still look like a jelly pie) and I've really benefitted from the nutrition reset, but not sure how maintenance is going to go. Maybe its worth doing it once a year or so. I'm interested in what he says about maintenance. I hear it's doing it 5 days a week and whatever you want for the other 2... I guess that's doable long term! I mean, it's not like I ever eat out or anything, and I will enjoy some toast and a wine on the weekend.

Think we have to dig deep guys and get to the end for the best results we can get!

BeckyBoo841 · 24/02/2023 06:19

And @Rocketpants50 one thing I did re: toilet trips is that I made sure I'd finished all my water by 6pm. Did you see the woman who was getting up 7 times a night? That is just nuts. Counterproductive to her health even.

Rocketpants50 · 25/02/2023 08:51

7 times a night that's crazy. My problem is if I get up and drink lots of water, I struggle to get through the morning and I can't just nip to the toilet. Then some days I have literally 10 mins to pop to loo and eat then I can't go again for about 3 hours. So end up drinking so much later in day or not enough.

Have changed my food this week to make it work for me more, using the food they suggest but things like not having an extra meal when done workout but just having a bigger meal. Now just have breakfast, lunch, snack when I get home, dinner then if I need one a light snack in evening - probably just increasing portions slightly. I don't feel I constantly need to eat now, get up at even earlier time and interestingly stood on scales this morning and lost quite a bit this week and trousers def feel looser. Am enjoying all the exercise so keeping with it to the end and will just carry on as determined to get into a pair of shorts I own which are a good size down from where I am now.

BeckyBoo841 · 02/03/2023 10:03

Oh man I cannot believe I complained about how it was too much food. I am starving at the moment! LOL. I'm amazed by how much I can eat and lose weight - truely mindblowing.

BeckyBoo841 · 14/03/2023 07:09

Just over two weeks to go! How is everyone feeling? I'm ready for a break now (but annoyingly i signed up to sculpt ... might ask them if I can be moved)

Regardless, I've lost 6kg so far, I feel fantastic, I'm running again, I have muscles I didnt know existed and over-all it's the best fitness and nutrition program I've ever followed. I love the team/group work, and despite him sometimes being a bit terse, I like Scotty too! (tho I'll never read the secret lol)

HOW ARE YOU ALL DOING? Final furlong!

Rocketpants50 · 15/03/2023 21:26

Ahhh have failed, was ill for a week then something happened - was hard to get going again now have decided its just not me. Find lots of the exercise boring - 80 press ups in the morning, getting up to go for a wee in the night, my job makes it tough as can't eat every 2 hours. I don't find the group particularly encouraging - it almost feels false and scripted. Its just to damn serious and Scotty gives me the willies. Would love some of the other team leaders to do the exercises and find it damn annoying to constantly swap between videos and the list of exercise - would be great if there was some live stuff to all join in with at times. Then having to video myself and upload it all - my life is just to crazy busy to 'prove' I have done a workout. Find our group now only a few key people are posting and responding - there really isn't much interaction. Maybe they need to group people - put me in a group where people laugh and post pictures of chocolate cake mishaps please!

On the plus side I have realised that I don't need at 6 pack, I need to be fit and healthy whilst enjoying life (I wasn't enjoying it) - though have managed to put on 2 pounds this week. I am back running though in a group and loving the encouragement and laughter from this. I love cooking and we do this as a family on a Saturday and I really missed that. So its given me the kick up the bum I needed and its set me on my way. I just didn't see how I could maintain this 'diet'. Loved some of the recipes but am not a shake person and def can't eat eggs and avocado (still feel sick thinking about it) I did Joe Wicks a few years back and should have gone back to that as that worked for me - I think I thought I could get a quick fix but what I need is just to exercise and eat well (and not eat the mini eggs my daughter has just given me!)

Sounds like you are doing great though and it works for you. Hope you are getting good results and good luck on the next one.

Cherryana · 17/03/2023 15:29

Hello, I have stuck to the exercise but I have spiralled into skipping meals and not looking after myself. The moment I started to have a bit of success and stopped batch cooking was the beginning of the end for me!

Rocketpants50 · 17/03/2023 21:31

It's hard to stay on on top of it all.
