Another chilly morning, lovely countryside run past sheep, highland coos, goats ( and a cute kid), ponies and pheasants!

Well done @Amaura !

I have a very hilly 30 mile race next weekend which will show me where I am with regard to my 105 miler in July.
I'm thinking of running the first half based on keeping my heart rate down to stop myself going off too fast.

Going to try for an age category win again Smile

Good luck @giraffeski!
Steady sunny run today, nearly shorts weather! Legs felt like lead but we got there.

The shorts weather has gone, chilly fog this morning and the possibility of snow tomorrow! Hill reps today, managed 1 more than last time

Same here, out running in the snow this morning, although there wasn’t much. Hopefully it’ll warm up again soon.
Steady run this morning, lower mileage ahead of Sunday’s trail 10k rac

A few inches of snow here. Getting back into it - managed 5km this morning but it still feels much tougher than it should!
Good luck @giraffeski

Adding my last three runs

Mostlyjustrunning · 31/03/2022 10:46

And good luck @emummy - does race begin with G?

giraffeski · 31/03/2022 11:14

Forgot to add weekend and this weeks mileage
Weather has turned from gorgeous and warm running in a vest to back to gloves and the Helly Hansen again Angry

Full winter kit will be required for my race on Saturday now and as its given snow it will very much make navigation more difficult so the 30 miles may easily change to 40 ...

On the kneeling chair front, I have found a massive difference in the tightness of my hip flexors and hamstrings since I started to use it, I am currently thinking about getting a standing desk as well. All my staff think I'm mad already as I do lunges and monster walks with a cross fit band while I'm waiting for the kettle to boil or when I'm on hold to the bank etc. so I've got nothing to lose (although I caught them all trying out my kneeling chair the other day Grin)

Good luck for Sunday @emummy!

emummy · 31/03/2022 11:34

No @Mostlyjustrunning, an S! It’s brand new, 300m of climb and claims to have great views of Cairngorms. Remains to be seen whether those will actually be visible….

Kneeling chair sounds great @giraffeski! Good luck with your race, hope the weather doesn’t get too ugly.

First miles for April- a 5k ish at my normal (still slow!) pace.

Well, survived my race! Lucky with the weather, it was cold but stayed dry. Massive steep hill at mile 2, then some quite hairy steep downhills with left over snow for extra fun! Stayed on my feet, slowest ever 10k but good fun.

Well done emummy great achievement.

6 miles this morning, heard the woodpecker, and saw heron, deer and a dipper, great run.
Struggling without my Fitbit, it has been recalled and disconnected, recording on my phone isn’t that reliable. Hopefully a refund in the next week.

Weather was good, freezing cold but sunny most of the day. However, I got really bad stomach cramps about three miles in so it wasn't a pleasant experience. Nearly dropped out twice, thought I was going to shit myself coming down one of the hills, had a little cry, but just about managed to make it to the checkpoint where there was a toilet and had the raging shits, cup of tea and a hot cross bun perked me up a bit and I managed to keep going until the next checkpoint. At that point there was only seven miles to go (and another toilet!) so I thought I may as well finish and did so although have felt better.
Finished first lady from my club, its a bit difficult to know where I came because of the format of the event as people were going off for about two hours so I suppose some could have set off after me and finished quicker but I haven't found out yet. There was one lady who was in before me but she was definitely not a v40 so I may have got my age category win after all. I'm pleased I finished at all to be honest though. I went a lot slower than expected for the first ten miles because I could barely shuffle while the stomach cramps were going on! One of my club mates had to give me a little hug.

Well done! Thank goodness for toilets!

emummy · 05/04/2022 08:24

Wow @giraffeski that was quite a day! I hope you get your age cat win, you certainly deserve it!
Intervals this morning, started in light rain then got thumped with snow! Got very wet & cold, sitting at work with a coffee trying to warm up!

Yes well definitely for perseverance I feel like I should have an award- feel like if I could finish that I could do anything. TBH I would have dragged myself to the end with a broken leg, I'm not a quitter. I still brood over my shitness from when I quit the Yorkshire Three Peaks after two peaks as a teenager when I twisted my ankle slightly., really just couldn't be arsed. I'm very hard on myself Grin

UnaOfStormhold · 05/04/2022 14:40

Some great running going on, congratulations to giraffeski and emummy!

No running has been happening here due to COVID - I have had a fairly mild case so hoping to be back out by Thursday at the latest. Unfortunately I had to cancel a race I'd planned for Sunday but it wasn't a top priority race. I'm really hoping I'll be OK for my 19 miler on May bank holiday as I've been training for that for a while. I think I will probably have to aim for completion rather than a time but it will be good to do it if I can. I'm very tempted to do a few laps of the garden just to see how I get on...

Doublethecuddles · 05/04/2022 16:11

Well done giraffeski and excellent effort. Hope you can figure out what causes the stomach cramps.
UnaOfStormhold how frustrating. I would definitely be running round the garden!

Quick 5km yesterday morning before a killer abs class. 10km this afternoon in very wet, damp rain. Made the mistake of running round the edge of a ploughed field! Won’t do that again.
