Such a shame you are still weary buttons x my ankle isn't too bad, but I'm pretty convinced have arthritis in my right wrist. I can only do a out 10 press ups before it is so painful that I can't do any more at all so yesterday's day 26 (chest and triceps) needed some changing up as I went through it.

I actually prefer to do the quad workouts, as I find it very hard to activate my quads and generally just find leg workouts only make my glutes and hamstrings achey

fishonabicycle · 28/03/2022 09:58

And I'm so glad it's not only me who can't bear that CG FB page - it's nauseating!

GregBrawlsInDogJail · 28/03/2022 17:59

I did Epic 1 Day 2 today. Interesting...

BigButtons · 28/03/2022 18:39

@GregBrawlsInDogJail the first week of epic one is tough.
I am hoping to dip my toes back in the exercise water again soon( after last week’s setback). I will stick with upper body work.
Good news is that I can feel my legs again finally after nearly three weeks!

Day 39 full body completed, it went pretty quickly but I found the 2 mins of arm exercises particularly tough. Glad to do some abs again as I know I should do more but struggle to find time for add ons.

SophieLion · 29/03/2022 12:35

Glad you're improving bigbuttons.

I've got the EMOM day tomorrow (day 45). You made it sound ok apart from the second circuit. I hope it's that manageable for me as don't fancy a workout where it's just impossible ....

That's a lot of exercise forgotmypassword! Hope you enjoyed your rest day(s)

Forgotmypasswordsgain · 29/03/2022 16:03

Day 40 completed, only 10 more to go!! Not looking forward to day 45 emom, I think day 45 epic 1 emom has been the only workout I’ve had to quit and switch to a standard hiit one. Hopefully endgame won’t be as bad 🙏.

BigButtons · 29/03/2022 16:22

@Forgotmypasswordsgain the day 45 EMOM was tough. First round a nice warm up- the second I had to modify quite a bit- so as not to pass out- and the third and fourth just about doable without modify or reduced sets.

OP posts:
SophieLion · 30/03/2022 07:23

Just finished the EMOM. First and last circuit were ok. Second circuit was awful. Third was somewhere in the middle (didn't help that I was doing my sprawls wrong for the first 3 sets and so wasted time and energy).
Finisher was tough on my quads. Ended up doing them in sets of 10.
Glad it's over!!!!!

SophieLion · 30/03/2022 07:34

By the way, what would you say is the difference between a tuck and a reverse crunch?

Was just doing girvan's 4x4 workout from the Christmas series and her tuck and reverse crunch looked really similar to me. I always thought a tuck was a smaller Movement?

BigButtons · 30/03/2022 07:49

@SophieLion well done on the EMOM!
I think the tuck is more of a lifting up from the hips and the reverse crunch a lift and then a backwards movement?
Might well be talking bollocks of course!

OP posts:
SophieLion · 30/03/2022 11:56

I always thought a tuck brought knees to chest and reverse crunch went further back. But.. I've just been googling and many sites said only the tailbone and hips come off the floor in a reverse crunch so that does limit how far back one is supposed to go.

Maybe you are right and tuck is lift only - but then I thought tuck "tucked" into chest. Confused

SophieLion · 30/03/2022 12:01

Or maybe the difference is legs? Are they straighter in reverse crunches and all tucked up in tucks?!

BigButtons · 30/03/2022 17:08

@SophieLion I don’t know!
Today I looked up the difference between a dead lift sumo squat and a sumo squat in preparation for redoing endgame day 43- I am mixing and matching depending on my energy levels.
I must say though that I managed to feel my glutes working properly today rather than just my hamstrings. Going more slowly with slightly lighter weights in recovery is really helping to feel the muscle more.

OP posts:
SophieLion · 30/03/2022 18:02

I've googled that difference too bigbuttons! My understanding is that with the deadlift squat, your upper body is hinged forward from the hips whereas the upper body is upright with the sumo squat. I think with both (but for sure the deadlift one), you have to push hips back and up.

Perhaps Caroline girvan should do a video showing all her main moves with tips and instructions. I would find it so helpful to have all the at in one place.

Did you do day 43 today? I didn't enjoy that one at all. Too many sumo deadlifts. The hip thrusts made me glutes hurt though.
Well done for re-doing it!!!!

BigButtons · 30/03/2022 18:13

@SophieLion I hate every glute day- loathe hip thrusts. I remember that one as being the best of a bad bunch! I don’t mind the dead lifts- better than a thrust anyway!
Yea that’s how I wa doing the dead lifts.
Now my left lower back hurts😳🧐

Forgotmypasswordsgain · 30/03/2022 21:06

Day 41 completed, I didn’t mind this one although I found my 5kg weights really hard work to hold up tonight so glad it was only for the first couple of exercises. Hopefully day 42 tomorrow as working from home again and need some activity after too much screen time. Just looking at potential rescue dogs so sure I’ll get more time out of the house soon 😊

Forgotmypasswordsgain · 31/03/2022 22:16

Day 42 completed, I was quite looking forward to this upper body one when I heard no push-ups. I think it’s time to purchase new weights as I felt like I was taking it easy with some of my 5kg movements when CG was using 17.5kg. I used 2 x 5kg for the diamond press which felt about right so I think I’ll look for ~7kg ones this time. I’m also wondering whether to get 4kg as I can’t see myself jumping from 3 to 5kg in one go with the curls etc. I guess I could just take more tests if I did jump up. Hoping to complete day 43 tomorrow and then take a break Saturday.

BigButtons · 01/04/2022 06:28

Well done@Forgotmypasswordsgain. You are plugging on through them!
I have very sore hamstrings from the workout the other day. I did the 100 calf raise finisher too so my calves hurt as well. I am walking like and old lady 😮

SophieLion · 01/04/2022 07:39

You're almost finished too forgotmypassword. I saw Caroline has something starting on Monday - wonder what?

My whole body is hurting too this week so sympathise bigbuttons.

Did the Bulgarian lunge workout (day 47) today. Tough but strangely passed quite quickly (thank goodness!).

Forgotmypasswordsgain · 01/04/2022 11:28

@SophieLion, I’m also wondering what CG has in store next. I’m planning a full week off from next Friday (well maybe a couple of quick advent abs) and had then thought about trying best as the shorter workouts fit with my day best.

Forgotmypasswordsgain · 01/04/2022 11:29

heat not best 🤦‍♀️

Forgotmypasswordsgain · 02/04/2022 12:24

Completed day 43 glutei this morning, it seemed to go very slowly but at least I could feel the glutes/ hamstrings working (couldn’t when I first started with CG). Only 7 more days to go! Off to visit a rescue dog tomorrow so I might be out on dog walks sooner than I thought!!

Lelivre · 03/04/2022 08:02

A quick question please, after I went through the beginner program a few times; I've managed 5 weeks of Epic Heat. I'm holding my own although my weights are about half Caroline's at most...I would love to start the new program tomorrow.

I'm away the first two days. I can't take weights with me would you have any advice please?

SophieLion · 03/04/2022 10:22

LeLivre, Caroline girvan has a one week callisthenics program that you could do if you want to exercise without weights. She also has lots of other body weight workouts on her channel.

Oh yes forgotmypassword, day 43 was sooooo slow. And I normally like the glutes ones. It was that sumo deadlift staple that was just so boring for me. Lovely you will get a rescue dog!!

Did day 48 push ups and abs. I had to modify A LOT! Did most of the push ups as incline ones or on my knees. And for the finisher I just did what I could in the same time as her.
