@ManxRhyme that’s the day that made me want to be sick😱

OP posts:
ManxRhyme · 23/10/2021 22:50

@BigButtons I'll consider myself warned 😂

BigButtons · 23/10/2021 22:52

@ManxRhyme no doubt you’ll report back that it was fine 😂

I'm all for the easy life. When the going gets tough, I sit down and catch my breath 😂

fishonabicycle · 24/10/2021 08:33

Hi all! Just finished epic heat and done day one of epic 3 yesterday. I've been doing them with my husband, so on days we can't work out together (due to work etc) we do other workouts. Do any of you use the same weights as Caroline?

BigButtons · 24/10/2021 08:51

@fishonabicycle welcome! How did you find Epic 3? Well done on completing heat🥳
Where I live it is bonfire season. It’s hard to explain but it is full on celebrations for a month. I fuse fireworks and pull barrels.
Last night I got a workout pulling one of these for a few hours round town. They are used to collect the spent torches dropped in the parades. It’s pretty physical work. Can I be let off my hiit today?😂😂

I did do a hiit in the end. The first one in Epic1. It was exhausting and not pleasant even though I modified a lot.
I am having full bloods done this week and a face to face with a dr on Friday to discuss the results. I am constantly cold and exhausted and sleep is terrible. She wants to check everything. I don’t want to shrug it off as being in peri. Now I have to run the gauntlet of trying to get through to the surgery on a Monday which will be next to impossible🧐

OP posts:
Melassa · 24/10/2021 19:32

@BigButtons the first HIIT in Epic 1 was a killer, I remember feeling sick a lot of the way through. Well done on getting through it.

I woke up a bit stiff and sore today from yesterday’s EMOM, I guess from being immobile a week. Did the day 26 glutes, hamstrings and back and it seemed to pass quite quickly, hopefully I won’t be too stiff tomorrow. I’ve taken the morning off tomorrow to get stuff done so I will have time to fit in day 27. Finally passed halfway, every week seems to be taking me 3 weeks!

BigButtons · 24/10/2021 19:40

@Melassa I picked it because I thought the first one would be easier😂😂😂😱

OP posts:
BigButtons · 24/10/2021 19:45

I did manage some diamond push ups. Last time I literally could not move a muscle when I attempted them. That’s a bit of progress. I was sweating like the proverbial pig.

fishonabicycle · 24/10/2021 20:27

Her HIIT (plaited hair) sessions are pretty tough! First Epic 3 was ok - legs are always tough, and I only used a pair of 7.5kg weights 😂

VeryLittleOwl · 24/10/2021 20:43

Right, I've been inspired by you lot and I'm starting tomorrow. I'm 46 and perimenopause is currently giving me a good kicking, so it's time I turned round and thumped it back.

I currently do no exercise other than having a basic level of functional fitness from looking after three horses and a small flock of sheep (which at the moment includes four trips daily down and up a near-vertical hillside to my field well, bringing 2 x 10l buckets of water up with me each time), but I've noticed in the past few months that I've lost a lot of strength and various bits of me are starting to ache, so I want to strengthen it all up.

BigButtons · 24/10/2021 20:50

@VeryLittleOwl hello! I would advise to start with her beginners series- I would advise that very strongly 😂😮

OP posts:
wetpants · 24/10/2021 20:57

What an earth is that thing you’re pulling @BigButtons??? Where is this a thing?? Grin

I did EH day 33 today. I really struggled with it again, 1.5 mins of elevated lunges Angry Am I a weakling or is the sessions particularly hard this week???

VeryLittleOwl · 24/10/2021 21:04

Yes, don't worry, that's the plan!! I've had a flick through the first one and there aren't any exercises in there I haven't done before, just not for about 10 years... Though I've had to rethink my plan to do it in my office, because I'll have to come down a spiral staircase afterwards and that probably isn't going to be happening.

wetpants · 24/10/2021 21:05

Welcome all the newbies Smile

@VeryLittleOwl yeah, start with the Epic beginner series as suggested by BigButtons
I did that first and it was so hard. In fact I repeated it the following week. I didn’t start the Epic series straight afterwards though, I did CG’s stand alone sessions for some weeks. Then decided to repeat her beginner series and to my astonishment I managed it so much better.

BigButtons · 24/10/2021 22:09

@wetpants it’s flaming barrel that is used to hold torches that have been dropped in the procession. Look up lewes bonfire on you tube . Here in sussex we have bonfire season from September into late November. Work goes on all year in prep for it though.
My town has 5 bonfire societies but most of the villages also have their own and have their celebrations where other societies go and join in. We March around with torches, throwing rookies and holding remembrance services for the war dead. Then their are massive bonfires and fireworks. Great fun!

@BigButtons I’m sorry but what?? Grin Sounds very pagan Grin I’m in the next county from Sussex but we have nothing like that here and didn’t realise bonfires were such a big thing.
That’s why I love UK (I’m forrin) as it’s full of quirky traditions like this Smile

stilllockeddownnowheretogo · 25/10/2021 09:24

@fishonabicycle, that's great to hear you've just started EPIC 3!
I also just finished EPIC Heat this weekend (EMOM Shock ) and am taking a couple of days break to decide what to do next. Maybe Epic 3?

I did the Bowflex 3 minute plank yesterday and I succeeded! Which I was NOT expecting at all. Clearly the Epic Heat has worked wonders. I must keep going.
(This is when I lose motivation, when I've finished something and am not sure what to start next. I need a plan Grin )

VeryLittleOwl · 25/10/2021 10:31

Epic Beginner day 1 done - I am puce in the face, very sweaty, and my dogs are looking worried, but I did it all. Discovered that my left leg is weaker than my right, which I suspected it would be when I got the tape measure out this morning and found it was half an inch smaller at thigh and calf. I had a dodgy ankle on that side three years ago, which I kept turning over, so favoured the right for about a year, hopefully this will even things out eventually.

MarisPiper92 · 25/10/2021 11:16

Can I join? I have just done Day 1 of EPIC 3 and my legs don't know what's hit them. Have done a couple of CG's other workouts, but never an EPIC programme. I am still pretending I am capable of completing it!

BigButtons · 25/10/2021 15:04

@MarisPiper92 Epic 3 is a big ask to start with. why don't you try the beginners or epic 1?
@stilllockeddownnowheretogo well done you! I will do day 36 today
@VeryLittleOwl it is pretty tough. Make sure you repeat it until you feel you are stronger!

OP posts:
MarisPiper92 · 25/10/2021 15:17

You're probably right @BigButtons, but I was put off the beginners because most of it doesn't use weights. I didn't realise III would be harder than I, but I suppose it makes sense!

I will persist, but will try not to judge myself too harshly if it's too much. I'm not using the same weight as CG, so I guess that will make it a bit easier.

BigButtons · 25/10/2021 15:22

@MarisPiper92 Epic 3 is really really hardcore. Don't be fooled by the lack of weights in the beginners. Her bodyweight stuff is seriously tough- like her beginners is the same as most other trainers' advanced.

I often find the body weight exercises far harder than those with weights.. Far better to get used to the way she works and warm your muscles up gently IMO.

I started the last thread because I was a week into Epic 1 and struggling really badly. I had been exercising consistently all of my life and thought I was fit.
I am doing heat now and I struggle .every. single. time.

  • she ups the intensity through the programme so just when you think you are gaining strength and can do things she turns it up another notch.

hi all, I was on the other thread under a different name. Am on day 36 of Epic 3 today.

I've joined the various FB groups and become obsessed (although not as obsessed as them), and am now looking at my diet and macros. Although I keep getting the macros wrong. I think operating at a calorie deficit (which I've been doing for a week now) is the thing that makes the most difference (I got that off the FB group!).

Anyway, have noticed a difference, but most importantly for me, I've noticed a difference in my knees which were agony before, but much better now. So much so that I can now run again! I'm very pleased.

I can still only do about 8 pushups. And my heaviest weights are now 6kg. But you know ,it's progress.
