@Itsnotdeep she also has an iso/plyo leg day somewhere in heat. I liked that. The only non lunge on is the wall sit- excellent for skiing of course!

Itsnotdeep · 14/01/2022 21:54

Thanks BigButtons. I did skim through the wall one you linked to and there aren't that many lunges in it I don't think.

I meant I need to build up my quads (as well as my glutes) - I have loads of glutes exercises but there don't seem to be many knee friendly quad exercises. Maybe I need to brave the wall....

BigButtons · 15/01/2022 09:25

@Itsnotdeep I am going to do the wall sit again today.
My right hamstring was already still a bit sore from this week’s leg day and now, after all the RDLs, it is even more sore🤔

Went past Lewes today - parked up in Firle (so pretty) and went for a walk up on the downs. Really lovely!

BigButtons · 15/01/2022 23:44

@fishonabicycle it is very pretty ❤️🙂

@Itsnotdeep I did do the wall sit again today. Loved it, but it is tough especially towards the end. I had to shut my eyes and breathe deeply through the last painful 40 seconds. It’s all quads though and only 1 set of lunges.🙂

Did day 5 endgame just now - that was horrible! I hate Burpees, (and have dodgy knees so find if I do many of them my knees ache for days). Did mostly low impact variations, and changed one lot of Burpees to mountain climbers.

BigButtons · 16/01/2022 14:31

I am about to attempt today’s tabata. I have another bad cold. It will be ugly. I intend to go very slowly. My aim is not to get too badly out of breath.
One silly woman on the over 50s FB group reported that she had to stop and use her asthma inhaler.
what sort of madness is that fgs?😮

StrikingMatches · 16/01/2022 15:27

I didn't mind today, although I did modify some of the jumping parts, at least it was over quickly. I avoided most of the HIT in Epic 3 so I was pleasantly surprised it wasn't too bad. I'm definitely getting more muscle soreness with this Epic than the last one, so hopefully it will have a good effect 🤞🏻🤞🏻

BigButtons · 16/01/2022 16:04

My thoughts on today’s hiit.
I got out of breath- which is the whole point but it was so- able. Non of the exercises were stupid. I did all modified versions.
I subbed the down dog/ push up thing for jumping jacks.
I did the push ups in my knees.
The finisher was hard though. I paused the tv and just slowly did it at my own pace.
I am pleased that I managed to get through it all despite being completely bunged up and not feeling too great.

I’m feeling a little lazy tonight as I didn’t manage to do a workout today and not since Thursday. I jarred my hand at netball yesterday so thought dumbbell work was a no go. I thought about the HIIT instead but decided to give it a miss. I like to get my workouts done early at the weekends but I had a 6th birthday party to get to at 9am today and couldn’t squeeze it in. Hopefully back at it tomorrow, maybe start at 6 to finish before the school run.

Itsnotdeep · 16/01/2022 21:42

I didn't manage it today either. Will try and do 2 tomorrow.

Don't feel too bad as I did a bike ride instead.

Melassa · 16/01/2022 23:06

I didn’t manage the HIIT either, but I did Friday’s full body instead then ended up walking 20,000 steps, so I feel I have compensated. I’m WFH tomorrow so I might do the Tabata after whatever session there is tomorrow. I actually don’t mind it as it is over quickly, the burpee cardio from last week was sick making.

@BigButtons I hope your cold doesn’t get any worse. I do think you’re brave having attempted the HIIT despite not being well. I’d have sat down with a coffee and a biscuit Biscuit

BigButtons · 17/01/2022 15:10

@Melassa wow 20,000 steps is a lot! Well done!
I have just done day 11. It wasn't bad at all. Managed to up my weights to 11.5 kg but got distracted half way through and decided to weigh all the individual plates, bar and spin lock just to see exactly how heavy it was as I don't trust the item description!
I liked the calf raises. I can do those with relative ease as when I run I run on my forefoot- I walk more on my mid/forefoot too ( high arches) ( hardly ever run now though) so my calves are used a lot anyway.
So far I am mostly enjoying this series a lot. There has been the odd bum day but on the whole very do- able.

I worked out where I have got yet another cold from. None of the kids in my class of 9-10 year olds have colds but I started doing some work with some 4/5 year olds last week and all of them are covered in snot!

OP posts:
Melassa · 17/01/2022 18:41

4 and 5 year olds are snot monsters. When DD was that age I used to dread some play dates as inevitably I’d find dubious snail trails afterwards. Fortunately it wasn’t a big thing here, most playdates tend to be in the park.

I’ve done nothing yet, busy day with work but I felt really indecisive today and couldn’t get my head around stuff. I will deliberately not drink wine so I can do it later. I looked and it didn’t seem too bad. Ha! Famous last words!

Forgotmypasswordsgain · 17/01/2022 22:11

No work out here as I woke with a sore throat, hopefully not from my 5 year old as he tested positive this morning alongside my 8 year old, looks like I might need to take the week off unless I miraculously recover from a coincidental cold 🤦‍♀️

BigButtons · 18/01/2022 06:50

@Forgotmypasswordsgain oh no. Fingers crossed that it is just a cold. Rest up x

Hi guys, I just found CG recently. Did beginner last week and started Epic 1 yesterday. I had to modify the push ups today, did quite a lot of diamond cobras instead. I'm early on my journey compared to you all but I hope you don't mind me joining in. I don't talk a lot about exercise IRL as my friends/husband aren't as excited about it as I am Grin

BigButtons · 18/01/2022 14:51

hi @Nikki2302 and welcome!
Well done on starting beginner. It took me ages to be able to do full push ups.

I have done day 12. Managed to up the weights for some of it, even doing some 6s with my shoulders. I had a complete refusal on the chair tricep dips- shoulders were toast by then. Managed quite a few of the press up staple- did go to my knees for some- getting there slowly.

managed the 100 skull crushers- just.

OP posts:
Anjelika · 18/01/2022 15:36

Day 12 done here too 😀 I too managed 6kg for the Shoulder presses and Arnold presses but could barely do the staple that immediately followed! I didn't even attempt press ups with my feet on a chair!

fishonabicycle · 18/01/2022 18:03

Did day 6 yesterday - my triceps are sore today! I cannot do those skullcrusher press-ups at all! Not even one! I can just about do them on my knees.

StrikingMatches · 18/01/2022 18:14

I quite enjoyed Day 12 today. I managed to up my weights to 9kg for some of the exercises, but dropped way down for the finisher - even then I was 25 in before I realised it was only one dumbbell 🤦🏼‍♀️ and not two.

Itsnotdeep · 18/01/2022 18:46

I enjoyed day 12 too. For the first time I felt I need to up my weights (I was on 6kg for most of the exercises).

Haven't managed an add on today or even many steps as work has been so full on.

stilllockeddownnowheretogo · 19/01/2022 05:27

Hi @Nikki2302! and everyone else,
I have finally made it to the end of the Advent series Grin - it took me a while! But I really liked the 20 minute format, it kept me on track (mostly) and didn't give me excuses for not exercising...

Not sure what to do next. Need to have a think. Any recommendations?
I really need something 20-30 minutes long. Maybe Heat again?
