Might as well start a new thread. All welcome regardless of your goals, just keep moving. Everything counts towards your totals. It's amazing what you can accomplish in a year, how far you can go and all the things you see en route.

Just a couple of km into town and back, my Runkeeper app keeps crashing so there is loads I haven't logged.

Biking0077 · 13/06/2021 13:47

Sat seaswim & cycle 7k
Sunday 70km training ride my longest for a couple of years with big hill in middle of it. Feeling ready for the 100km ride at end of the month now.

Running 319km
Swimming 27km
Cycling 918km

TheLongRider · 14/06/2021 09:20

Best of luck for the 100km ride! @Biking0077

It was the hottest day of the year here yesterday. I had an easy ride along the coast and stopped for a 99.

That 99 is massive!

2.3 km swim
5 km walk (including scary cow encounter!)

Weekend away, fairly active but not much logged. Also had puppy cuddles with pup who'll be coming home in 3 weeks time :-)

445.2km run/walk
78.7km swim

TheLongRider · 14/06/2021 12:01

No, this one is massive, nearly as big as my head. Luckily I was riding a 200km route so I needed the calories. You need to go down the country for giant 99s. Only €2.

Another 2k walk yesterday, only up to 330K just now.

ErrolTheDragon · 14/06/2021 14:30
Grin 6km by the river - we would have gone further but the young steers are out now and they're still at the frisky and curious stage, and after a scary steer incident a few years ago we've decided discretion is the better part of valour.

You mess with bullocks (as they're known over here) at your peril. They are skittish with a herd mind. If I stop at a gate on my rural roads they usually come over for a look but as soon as I click into my cleats the noise makes them scatter, hooves flying, until they regroup at a safe distance.

Pool swim with cycle to pool plus heavenly sports massage after to soothe my dodgy back n hip.

Love the big icecream and good luck with pup tiz. What are you getting? We’ve got a one year old LabX spaniel. She’s super fast runner but we’re been told to wait until she’s 18-24mths to run properly with her. The drop in my running miles this year has been down to that time slot I had is now used for walking the dog! Hopefully by the end of the year I can combine the two activities.

Swimming 29km
Cycling 923km

The cow encounter was all a bit unusual. We entered the field and they ran over and stopped short, then they all ran off again down the other end of the field. We continued walking on then they all came back and one in particular wasn't interested in leaving us alone. We decided to hop over the barbed wire fence at the point she had her head down and was gently! pushing against my partner. It might have just been curiosity, but we weren't waiting to find out! Normally it's the teengers who come charging over but they always stop short and are fairly skittish and soon run way gain with any sudden movement. This was a full grown cow though, no calves around.

@Biking0077 we're getting a black lab, so won't be doing any running for a while (not that I've run in months). Walking will probably drop off a bit too.

Biking0077 · 14/06/2021 15:46

Sounds lovely @tizwozliz ours looks like a skinny black Lab, I laughed at everyone saying getting a dog is good for exercise, as she’s rather curtailed ours for the last year as a pup demanding lots of sit down cuddles. But it’s getting easier now to leave her for a few hours at home to get out and I’ve done a gentle trail 4k run with her carrying treats as her recall is fab if there’s food involved Grin hope yours settles in well and not too many broken nights sleep after the first month.

Wow @TheLongRider great icecream🤩🤩🤩

I’m super pleased to say I hit my yearly target of 1000km of running today! I’ve never run more than 600km in a year, never mind 1000km in under 6 months.

I’m buzzing!!!

TheLongRider · 15/06/2021 22:54

Congratulations! @Run1000km2021
You'll have to change your name to Run2000km2021.

@TheLongRider I have bitten the bullet and changed my name😅 I feel slightly scared about making this commitment. I’ve had quite a bit of time for running this year because of WFH, but I’ll soon have to start commuting to work again which is will really impact on my running time😬😬😬

So I may not make it to 2000 km, but I’d like to try🙂

Run2000km2021 · 16/06/2021 06:57

Oh and @tizwozliz I’ll be reading your dog tales with interest, I’d love to be able to get a dog myself🙂

tizwozliz · 16/06/2021 11:13

Have had some great swims this week, 6.5km over the past two sessions. Some lovely lunchtime walks too.

Swim 85.2km
Walk/Run 455km

So combined over halfway there, which gives me a bit of leeway if things limited by the puppy. I'm still hoping to do 365km swimming in the year so I don't actually need to do that much more walking/running.

A few 9-10k commutes and 2k walks. Getting annoyed with Runkeeper that I use for walking as it keeps crashing mid walk.

Biking0077 · 16/06/2021 22:06

Oh @tizwozliz your pup is lovely I hope you enjoy lots of snuggles before land shark takes over 🤣

Well done @Run1000km2021 that’s brilliant

I ended up having unplanned Tri dry with early seaswim in perfect conditions which I cycled to. Then a trail 5k tonight but it was So hot n humid pre- storms coming in later.

Running 324km
Swimming 29.4km
Cycling 930km

Biking0077 · 16/06/2021 22:07

Oh and because of the lockdown restrictions my charity bike ride has now been cancelled Sad it’s going to be virtual now such a shame as it’s a big fund raiser for a local cause and usually a great event.

Strawberriesandcream21 · 17/06/2021 12:33

Hi everyone! I'm checking back in here! I started Jan (under a different name) wanting to cover 1000km walking and running but with the weather being awful that first couple of weeks I dropped it down to 750km as I could see myself getting very agitated and obsessing about my target. Anyway, ive been doing well and while my homemade wall chart still says 750km I'm secretly hoping for 1000km.

So far... running 256.85km and walking 271.39 total 528.24

ErrolTheDragon · 18/06/2021 12:56

Welcome back Strawberries, good going!

Shame about the bike ride. Virtual is better than nothing but just not the same.

A lovely 8.4 yesterday, DH worked out a nice circular route down from the hill to one of the branches of 'our' river, down it and up again.

He's also bought us a new exercise bike - so I may need to start a third row of distances. I'd like to ride outside but he's only happy with off-road and not really keen on that.
