Might as well start a new thread. All welcome regardless of your goals, just keep moving. Everything counts towards your totals. It's amazing what you can accomplish in a year, how far you can go and all the things you see en route.

Just checking back in on the thread. Not been posting much but still out running when I can! Lovely 10km this morning, total running for the year now:

896km🤩

Been missing my regular swims though! Hoping to get a session book soon!

50km this morning around the local Wicklow countryside. I had skylark song in my ears. There were deer in the forestry plantations.

Looks lovely longrider.
Got out early on a beautiful blue sky day 37km done pretty hilly so legs fatigued at the end so had seaswim skins dip to ease the legs. Smile

We'd intended to do quite a long walk but decided it was getting too warm so just 7.8km

894.6 walked
40k rowed

Run1000km2021 · 31/05/2021 12:48

Very hot and sweaty half marathon for me this morning, bringing the total to

917km running. I’ve nearly smashed this year’s goal already😅

Biking0077 · 31/05/2021 14:28

Gosh not sure I’d manage a HM in 20c+ well done.

Had early seaswim with cycle then had pool session with kids but lucked out with empty lane so got a km in whilst kids played.

Running 319km
Swimming 26km
Cycling 730km

Run1000km2021 · 31/05/2021 14:57

It was a bit brutal @Biking0077! I much prefer the colder weather. Or a sea swim in this weather like you did😂 Can’t wait for my kids to be old enough to play in the pool while I do a proper swim! That sounds nice!

FrangipaniBlue · 31/05/2021 23:11

Managed a 2km swim tonight, the lakes are FINALLY getting warmer and were up to 15/16 Grin

Totals to end of May:
Swim 51km
Cycle 2,729km
Run 657km
Total 3,437km

I've got a few days off now as we're going away but looking forward to my first official "event" of the year on Sunday, 3.8km Ulswater Epic Swim Smile

TheLongRider · 01/06/2021 09:35

Another 1,144km of cycling and walking in May. The weather is getting better and we can travel anywhere within Ireland, I'll be making the most of it.

Good luck with your event @FrangipaniBlue

I really like the epic swims, we normally make a weekend of it and walk up a hill on the Saturday and swim on the Sunday but it's too complicated to organise places to stay right now. Last time I did Ullswater it was boiling, far too hot for wetsuits which were compulsory. The same weekend the triathlons were wetsuits forbidden as too warm.

Swims Tuesday, Saturday and this morning, then a 12.6km walk yesterday plus a few lunchtime walks. Was really beautiful out

Swim 65.9 km

FrangipaniBlue · 01/06/2021 13:56

Thanks @tizwozliz I'm doing all 4 epic swims this year and lucky enough to live close enough to just drive to them all!

Derwentwater is closest (and one of my regular swim spots), Ulswater is about 45 minutes away and Windermere/Coniston about 90 minsSmile

ErrolTheDragon · 01/06/2021 18:06

We didn't manage to park for a shady walk yesterday, DH doesn't do heat (he seems to be a bit iffy post vaccination at the moment). But did today, the wooded country park atop a hill. 6.3 km

900.9 walked
40k rowed

ErrolTheDragon · 01/06/2021 18:09

Envyat those who can swim outdoors. There's nowhere near us.... I grew up by the seaside and miss it.

drspouse · 01/06/2021 19:34

Back on the bike, 17k local group evening ride.

Run1000km2021 · 02/06/2021 09:06

Where are you @ErrolTheDragon? Even the most landlocked of places will have some water bodies nearby! No regular sea swims for me but I swim in rivers and lakes!

Ps you don’t have to say where you live on here obvs😂 but if you join a local or national wild swimming group (Facebook) and ask for advice I’m sure there will be somewhere!

tizwozliz · 02/06/2021 09:31

There's been an explosion in open water swimming venues near us over the last year or so. Unfortunately, I get swimmer's itch from pretty much all of them, I'd love some proper lakes to swim in.

ErrolTheDragon · 02/06/2021 09:31

Lancashire. The coast isn't that far but it's rubbish for swimming. The lakes are too far away and there's no river swimming I'm aware of. Reservoirs are verboten.
I'm not aware of any outdoor pools anywhere within range - the coast really could do with a lido!
Water, water everywhere but never a bit appropriate to swim in!Grin

drspouse · 02/06/2021 09:35

We have a quarry that's mainly a dive centre but you can swim there, too. It's lovely in the summer.

Biking0077 · 02/06/2021 12:56

Wet ride 40k but squeezed in whilst youngest was at a 2hr sports club.

@Run1000km2021 yes the luxury of being able to properly swim now when I take the kids swimming has been a 14yr wait Grin my DH doesn’t really swim so I’ve done years of lessons & swim club but the youngest is now a club swimmer too so I feel confident leaving them to it having fun whilst I can grab 20mins of lane time.

Running 319km
Swimming 26km
Cycling 770km.

ErrolTheDragon · 03/06/2021 19:06

Cooler here today, which DH much prefers. 8.6 km

909.5 walked
40k rowed

drspouse · 03/06/2021 20:44

9k bike to and from THE OFFICE, it's a really strange sensation.
