I did a Body Combat remix yesterday - Fight Club. It was really hard, or maybe it's because I've not been doing as much because I hurt my hip/back.

I make myself laugh imagining someone trying to mug me and me doing some capoeira around them! (It's been a long pandemic and I am easily amused!)

kittykarate · 17/03/2021 09:14

I don't really 'get' capoeira as a fighting art. I mean, it's good looking, and the kicks are probably effective, but I wouldn't want to rely on any of the skills for self preservation. If I was going to learn a brazilian fighting style it would be Gracie Ju-jitsu, as that really does seem effective.

haha this made me laugh this morning :D

I've not done anything this morning, today is a write off as little one kept me awake from 3.00am this morning so I feel horrendous :(

I did Pump #96 with a resistance band on for squats and lunges. Ouch! Bizarrely though I am feeling it all in my upper body now an hour later and i didn’t increase anything for upper 🤷🏻‍♀️😂
Shoulders was so hard!

I haven’t done anything before 102 for a long long time. The warm up felt twice as hard as the recent ones 😂

MsMartini · 17/03/2021 13:03

I make myself laugh by choosing a different politician to punch in Body Combat Smile

rosettesforjill · 17/03/2021 13:24

Grit Strength and Kylie Gates Trainer Series on the Stronger Challenge today. GS kicked my butt! Bloody hell 🥵

Peachypips78 · 17/03/2021 21:41

Press ups on the stairs is a brilliant idea! Thanks for that. Good point that knee push ups are an exercise in their own right. I also can't do tricep press ups or dips very well!

I've always been solely a pump girl but I'm branching out with the fastburner- I did combat today which I really enjoyed, then did the first beginners sh'bam to learn some of the moves as I am shit at dancing.

I am very impressed with the grit action! Haven't dared yet.Grin

sociallydistained · 18/03/2021 08:37

I have some serious DOMS going on after using the band in Pump yesterday 😂 Thursday 10am is workout time for me, so regardless I have to crack on through the pain lol. I think I’ll do attack today 😬

By the way, I’m just shy off losing a stone since January Grin I have been calorie counting (but with all my exercise I have still eaten above 1500 most days!) but put it down to my consistency with Les Mills to be honest! I’ve definitely built muscle too which is why some weeks I stayed the same, but I am happy with the progress overall.

moiraswigs · 18/03/2021 10:23

Hello, can I join in? I've just joined Les Mills yesterday after doing Heather Robertson since June last year, but fancied a bit of variety. I thought I would start with a body combat this morning, but it was a disaster! I couldn't keep up at all. I felt like an uncoordinated lump. I ended up watching one of the intro videos to combat, and then because I didn't feel I'd had a workout, shamefacedly loaded up YouTube for Heather's latest HIIT video. Does it get easier?!

nbee84 · 18/03/2021 11:24

@moiraswigs - it will get easier. Stick to doing the same one for 3 or 4 sessions. You'll start remembering the moves and the coordination will come. When I started combat I didn't feel like I got much of a workout - just as I started to get a move they were on to the next one! The beauty of doing it at home is that no-one can see you go wrong and you can pause/rewind the tracks as much as you need to.

sociallydistained · 18/03/2021 12:21

You will get better and it’ll get easier. Essentially it’s the same moves so if you stick to the one you’ve tried you will get used to that then you’ll find the other releases doable. Trust me I felt the same now I can do any combat move straight off, it does make you feel crap at the start but you’ll be impressed in a few sessions time!

MsMartini · 18/03/2021 13:33

It does get easier! Sometimes I do alternatives to keep my HR up - I might just do jumping jacks or something instead of a complex combo at the end of a track. I think focussing on some (but not all) new moves each time helps - technique does improve but each workout is a good one too.

rosettesforjill · 18/03/2021 13:41

Definitely gets easier and the intro videos will help! I did a bit of very basic level tae kwondo in school as self defence lessons and just knowing what a hook and a jab etc were was really useful.

Body Attack tends to have some more standard aerobic moves, or there's always Grit if you like HIIT... 😬😂

moiraswigs · 18/03/2021 13:55

Thanks all, really appreciate it. I might try again tomorrow and see how I get on.

spencermoon · 18/03/2021 14:00

Can I join you too? I’m in week 2 of the game changer challenge and really enjoying it - maybe enjoying is the wrong word at times though! Grin

Quick question - how do you access any of the ‘older’ workouts? It only seems to go back so far when I look at what’s available.

kittykarate · 18/03/2021 14:10

Spencermoon - LMOD doesn't have all of their old workouts online unfortunately. Something to do with music licensing, the original releases they would not have licensed for online streaming, only for performance in gyms and DVDs.

At some point (2009?) they swapped over from original music to 'Les Mills Originals' (cover versions) to make the music licensing simpler.

moiraswigs · 18/03/2021 14:18

Ha ha @rosettesforjill, I have considered jumping right into a Grit........bad idea? Grin

rosettesforjill · 18/03/2021 14:22

I don't think it's a bad idea if you're used to HIIT! They're full on but you get a pretty incredible buzz after Smile
OverByYer · 18/03/2021 14:22

Aww I love Bodybalance and do it 2-3 times a week as well as run. Everything else looks really hardcore.

OverByYer · 18/03/2021 14:23

Are Jackie and Jill mother and daughter?

spencermoon · 18/03/2021 14:25

Thanks @kittykarate that’s helpful to know. Thought I was missing something when I couldn’t see them.

oneglassandpuzzled · 18/03/2021 14:28

@OverByYer

Jackie and DIana are mother and daughter.
OverByYer · 18/03/2021 14:31

Where did I get Jill from ?!!

Blerg · 18/03/2021 14:38

Hi everyone, I’ve love to join too. I did LM classes in person years ago and got very fit. Have had On Demand for ages but only using occasionally.

Last week I started cycling through Pump, Combat and Sh’bam every weekday - so 5 a week. Only 30 mins as wfh and also really unfit.

These are the only three classes I’ve enjoyed before. Barre isn’t my cup of tea and Body Attack is a bit frenetic for me. Hoping to be able to do Grit one day!

oneglassandpuzzled · 18/03/2021 15:15

I misread that as you saying you did LM classes in prison, Blerg and was impressed at how enlightened the establishment must have been.

Combat is probably still my favourite, though I also like Balance, Pump, Grit (some of it) and Attack. I've made a makeshift step from my two largest weights and can do some sections of Step on them without too much risk of injury. If I keep on enjoying it, I may have to buy a proper step.

I am going to have a dilemma as to whether to go back to the gym now I've found so much stuff on LMOD that my gym, even pre-Covid, couldn't provide. I think I'd end up paying for the gym and LMOD and can't really justify it. Hmmn.
