Here we go. X

Oooh interesting. I think I would vary depending on the class, I think I'd work harder at Barre/BC/BA at home as I'm less worried about making a clumsy mistake and looking a fanny in front of people.

I think BP, yeah, I'd probably work harder in a class as there's the "look at her - she's got bigger weights than me" factor, and the nice big mirrors to check my form properly.

kittykarate · 03/06/2021 10:19

Anyway, my hip flexor recovery continues, I walked a continuous 9km on Sunday without any ill effects. I'm still doing lots and lots more stretching than I would have previously, and while I've got the running sections back in BA/BC I'm still not jumping anything (especially lunges).

I've been on holiday glamping and have kept up with fast burner advanced while I was away. Got a few funny looks from the other glampers. Have to say doing grot 30 outside in the sun was not my idea of fun, but having random people looking at me pushed me to do it better

kittykarate · 07/06/2021 10:07

Lots of new workouts dropped today - BP, BC,BB.

kittykarate · 07/06/2021 10:07

I did core this morning - I think this is a program I'd try harder at home with because I'm less afraid of farting loudly.

😂😂😂

Good to hear about new workouts - I'll check them out!

GrinGrinGrinGrin I did 30 mins pump and 30 mins combat this morning. Got my second vaccine on Friday and arm is still a bit stiff so hopefully this morning will sort that out.
nbee84 · 07/06/2021 14:26

I did the new rpm - having done Peloton rides for the last month this felt much more like serious cycling! Was a good workout.

Core has never caused me to chuff weirdly - but let's not talk about what jumping jacks do to me when I'm doing BodyAttack!

Core definitely gives me most benefit per half hour spent exercising. My bum is almost starting to look quite pert!!

Best of a bad bunch???? Which 30 min GROT do I do tomorrow that won't irritate my back?

I haven't done it but I think Nano is meant to be an easier one. The Erin Maw trainer series is HIIT as well but a bit less intense than Grot!
kittykarate · 11/06/2021 09:38

I did a body attack 106 outside in the garden. My feet running around made all the worms come out of the ground.

rosettesforjill · 11/06/2021 21:41

Grot this morning and Core a bit later for me today. I really don't get on with Core even though I know it's so good for me plus I am coveting the female trainers' abs. So I'm keeping forcing myself to do it! If anyone has any favourites I would love some recommendations for the better ones...

kittykarate · 14/06/2021 09:55

Yeah, I feel every minute of a Core workout. Looking at my 'favourites' list for it, I have Core Nano, Core#23 and Core #33 on my list. Core#33 is there because I liked the standing/glute track a lot I think, the rest of it may still be sheer hell.

I went a little bit off plan this morning and did the latest BC 30 minute version. Was good, feeling it in my shoulders.

HermioneWeasley · 14/06/2021 21:16

I like Core 38 - feels like a good all over workout

rosettesforjill · 14/06/2021 22:23

Thanks! I'll add all those to my list Smile

Whatstheweatherlike · 25/06/2021 18:09

Hello, I've recently discovered Les Mills on demand and I LOVE it! It's only early days, but honestly it feels like the first time I've actually enjoyed exercising and looked forward to it. Such an impressive range of classes and the instructions are very clear. What I love most though is I've been able to try classes I've never dared to do in real life. My short, very pear-shaped body would look very out of place in a ballet class. Grin

This thread is very helpful, but I wanted to ask a question: is it enough to only do barre, sh'bam and core if my aim is weight loss and tone? My plan is to do barre and sh'bam 3 times a week each and add on a core session for 2 of those days. I'd be exercising for 6 days a week and have one rest day, but I don't know if that's enough cardio. Any advice gratefully received!

rosettesforjill · 25/06/2021 21:02

Welcome @Whatstheweatherlike!

I'm sure you would lose weight with that and Core is amazing for tummy toning even though i hate it. I might be tempted to throw in a Grit Cardio once a week or so as it really takes your fitness to another level or and/or a 30 minute Attack or Combat.

rosettesforjill · 25/06/2021 21:03

To add - by far the most important thing is diet for weight loss so I would definitely make sure you're tracking calories or following another plan Smile

Whatstheweatherlike · 26/06/2021 08:38

Thanks very much @rosettesforjill. I've tried - and enjoyed- bodyattack and combat but haven't yet braved Grit/Grot. Maybe I should switch one session a week for a combat/attack/grot. The reason for aiming for 3 sessions of barre and sh'bam is that I'm looking forward to really mastering the moves and techniques and I thought only doing them once or twice a week wouldn't be enough to do that.

Totally agree about food, even though it's much easier said than done! My biggest downfall is that if there's junk in the house then I can't forget about it, so I try and avoid having it around. Also as a vegetarian I need to keep my protein up.

NeverFull · 26/06/2021 19:39

Hi all, DH would like to know if LMOD has a kettlebell workout? He’s been using the Joe wicks kettlebell videos on YouTube but fancies a change.

rosettesforjill · 27/06/2021 09:01

@NeverFull I don't know of any unfortunately! I think you could probably adapt Bodypump and Core to use them but there's nothing specific as far as I'm aware.

Shymoon · 01/07/2021 16:47

Hi, I recently started doing Core but my lower back keeps getting off the floor a lot even if I don't lifts my legs that much. Is it that I just don't have enough strength in my abs and it will get better?

MsMartini · 01/07/2021 19:05

@Shymoon - yes Smile. It will get easier. Take the adaptations and only lower your legs as far as you can keep good form. Little and often with core, you will gradually get stronger and your range will increase.

PalacePaper · 05/07/2021 22:19

I've had the Les Mills app since January and love it! I've mainly done body balance (which I used to do at the gym) and have recently discovered Barre which I also enjoy.

Ive been doing Body Pump using dumbbells but would really like a barbell - does anyone have the Les Mills one? If so, is it worth the extra money? Or any recommendations for alternatives? I haven't read the full thread so apologies if this has been discussed already.

Any other recommendations for things to try on the app? I keep meaning to look through but forget until I want to do some exercise and then I want to get on with it so tend to stick to what I know.

I'm loving reading about what everyone's been doing so off to read the full thread now Smile
