I haven't run today 😕 just wasn't feeling the motivation to go out in the wind/ rain. Hoping it might be better tomorrow, either way I'll have to go or otherwise l have only done once this week.
Get fit with rick looks good! Just had a quick Google and there's lots of different videos, one that's 2300 steps in 19 minutes. Will come in handy for days when my step count is short so thanks whoever mentioned that!

redcandlelight · 13/03/2021 18:48

strong wind and hail showers here today.
postponed my run to tomorrow.

I need to go for a run this morning but feeling lazy and tired.

wizzler · 14/03/2021 08:32

@WhereAreWeNow come on.. get up and out there. You know that in 40 mins you will be back at home with a coffee in your hand feeling much more positive.

Italianmeringuebuttercream · 14/03/2021 09:24

Hello! I've just finished wk1 but am going to redo as I'm doing it with ds14 and hes yet to finish 1 session. I almost fainted after the 1st session but after my 3rd I felt better, like I could have run for 70 seconds!

redcandlelight · 14/03/2021 09:28

welcome italian
I did c25k with my teens. it's a brilliant way of spending time with them.
for some reason it really made them open up and talk to me about all sorts of things.
they were much fitter than me though and frustratingly able to chatter whilst running.

they are now back to school and don't join me as much anymore.

absolutely where out with you you know you feel brilliant after.

I off for my run (route planned is 7k) later after I have digested breakfast.

Dragged myself out before anyone was up for W4R1, went very slowly and managed to not stop!
Fitness was better than I’d expected but knees did protest somewhat!
Feel absolutely great I’ve done it!
Hope everyone has a lovely day 💐

WhereAreWeNow · 14/03/2021 10:55

Thanks @wizzler Grin
That's the kick up the arse I needed.
It seems it's often when I least want to run that I run best. I just did over 5k! I did 5k in 31 mins and then ran for a minute more. Average pace 6"15. Feeling very pleased with myself and well justified in scoffing all the mother's day chocolates!

redcandlelight · 14/03/2021 13:07

back from a lovely sunny run. 'only' 6k in the end (because I didn't get lost in the woods this time :o)

a bit slow at times, mainly due to dog slalom.

I 'met' my running mate today which was lovely. nothing quite cheers you up like another friendly face and wave.

Can I join? I’ve almost done C25K a few times but seem to pull a muscle once I’m into the continuous running rather than the walk run walk bit.

This time around I am not jumping any stages (I’m not hugely unfit as do walk a lot) and not rushing either. At most I run every other day. I’m also stretching before I start but suspect I’m doing that wrong. I should try and research what I should be doing.

I did week 7 day 3 today. I had zero motivation and felt slow and sluggish doing it, but every run must help I think. I certainly couldn’t have imagined running for 25 minutes continuously a few weeks ago, willing or unwillingly

WhereAreWeNow · 14/03/2021 21:43

Well done @EmilyDickinson. It sounds like you're nearly there and haven't pulled a muscle this time. I've recently graduated and I still feel slow and sluggish. I know I'm not - my pace is fine - but I just feel heavy and slow and sluggish. I'm hoping one day I'll bounce along lightly and effortlessly like other runners seem to!
Keep going!

WellJuhnelle · 15/03/2021 11:23

W5R2 in the bag this morning. The last couple of minutes dragged but I am really starting to think I am going to be able to complete the programme now!

Started to listen to podcasts instead of music now and I think that is helping distract me from the time passing

PleaseGoToSleeep · 15/03/2021 11:39

Hi 👋🏽

I've just completed week 1. I hate running and am really pleased with myself for carrying on at least only this far!
I've run with different school mums, not yet braved on my own.

I'd be interested to have some running shoe recommendations. I have really wide, quite flat feet. Currently wearing some cheap ASICS but they're not cutting it!

redcandlelight · 15/03/2021 11:55

wrt shoes, cheap is not necessarily bad.
decathlon has decent own brand shoes that are fine for beginners.

however if you have 'funny' feet or overpronate then it's definitely worth it looking at big brands.

wrt wide fit, I found new balance quite good. also don't be afraid to try men's styles.

always make sure shoes are big enough, you need at least a thumb width space between your toes and tip of shoe.

randomsabreuse · 15/03/2021 12:03

If you can find them in your size (start around 6.5 online) men's shoes are great for wide feet. I like Mizuno Wave Kizuna and got on well with the Wave Rider 20 I think but I have high arches so you might want something different in the Mizuno range. My women's shoes (because they had no stock of men's are narrower in the same size.

PleaseGoToSleeep · 15/03/2021 13:15

Thanks both I'll take a look!

wizzler · 15/03/2021 13:37

Welcome @PleaseGoToSleeep .

I'm planning on w9 r1 today. Route all planned .. just need to get off my bum after work and do it. I'm hoping that telling you lot will make me definitely do it

redcandlelight · 15/03/2021 13:47

last week wizzler you can sit on your bum after the run Wink

WhereAreWeNow · 15/03/2021 14:02

New Balance and Brooks both do wide fittings.

ThereAreNoMore · 15/03/2021 14:47

I've got Brooks wide fit, I was wearing a 7 in decathlon shoes to get my width and went down to a 6 in Brooks. My ankles were so painful in the decathlon ones!

I just did W4R3 in daylight and I did the yoga with Adriane warm up but I felt something pop in the back of my calf during the second run. It was a bit painful when it happened but I was able to continue on just a bit uncomfortable but not in pain. Then I came home and googled calf popped when running. Someone please tell me this isn't as bad as it Google said it was? Never google 😭

crumbsnamechange · 15/03/2021 15:22

Re-starting Couch25k but doing a faster jog during the runs and a slow jog during the walk sections.

I've really been hampered the last couple of months or so with injuries. First it was my hip flexors, then knees and now the side of my right foot! Having to take a couple of weeks off each time isn't fun.

Talksunderwater · 15/03/2021 17:22

Welcome to our newbies.

I have Brooks wide fitting shoes and really like them.

redcandlelight · 15/03/2021 17:29

I'm back from my personal shopper appointment and came home with a pair of asics gel kayano.
maybe they will magically take me under the magic 6m/km

emilyjeff · 15/03/2021 17:51

Forgot to post yesterday! I did 2 miles of interval running, actually quite enjoyed it but weirdly the slow sections felt harder than the fast ones 🤷‍♀️ but no pain in my shin/ calf so all good.
I've been looking at new trainers too. I have saucony guides at the min (on my third pair) get on well with them but always trash them so quick as my big toe rubs a whole through the top mesh. So annoying.
