What do you all use to track your heart rate, distance etc? I just use my phone at the moment for distance, but would like to get a watch or wearable of some kind as a reward if and when I complete C25k so I can work on increasing speed.

schoolcook · 31/03/2021 15:44

@EmilyDickinson I used the C210K app after C25K and found it really useful but you do need to have 70 minutes to spare for some of the last runs.

@Shopgirl1 I treated myself to a garmin 645 music and have never looked back. I love it and it really motivates me to do better , more , further , faster etc Grin

redcandlelight · 31/03/2021 16:41

back from my run.
gosh that was hard.
I planned a 6k route but had to admit defeat and walk the last km home as I started to feel a bit faint.

I have a Garmin 245 Cardio (I think). I really like it, and the training plans that come with it.

Shopgirl1 · 31/03/2021 20:54

Thanks schoolcook and randomsabreuse, those look great!

schoolcook · 31/03/2021 21:13

@Shopgirl1 that's ok. I looked around and got it for £199 in Argos. It was £349 most other places.

Shopgirl1 · 31/03/2021 21:21

@schoolcook would never have thought to look in argos, will check around alright, I googled it earlier and most results seem to be in the £300 range. I’ve a few more weeks to save up at least!

W5 R3 tomorrow and I’m kind of nervous but looking forward to it too - or at least looking foreword to having finished it!

schoolcook · 31/03/2021 21:23

@Shopgirl1 haha it's all in the runners high at the end Grin

longlivetheking · 31/03/2021 21:45

Go for it @Shopgirl1 - you’ll be so pleased with yourself afterwards!

WhereAreWeNow · 01/04/2021 06:42

Good luck for w5 r3 @Shopgirl1. I was looking at getting a fitness watch/band that is under £50. I don't know enough about them to understand why some cost £30 and some cost 10 x that.

Randommother · 01/04/2021 07:36

W5 r2 in the bag, and with new trainers! My old ones were very, very old, so I treated myself to a new pair. Wow, what a difference a decent pair of shoes makes!!

longlivetheking · 01/04/2021 07:40

Week 7, the runs aren’t seeming any easier Sad I’d hoped doing the same run for the week would see it becoming easier. Maybe R3 will be the one Confused

redcandlelight · 01/04/2021 07:57

after yesterday's tough run my leg muscles hurt.
I wonder if I ran differently due to my bruised bottom.

Very well done to everyone for keeping going. redcandlelight I hope you ache less soon. longlivetheking I hope the next run is a bit easier. I still haven’t attained that graceful loping stride. I plod around the Park Run course willing it to be over, but I noticed today that I’ve definitely become slimmer and more toned over the last few weeks. I haven’t really lost any weight so I’m putting it down to the running

redcandlelight · 01/04/2021 08:58

my legs definitely look much better compared to before I started running!
my midriff though...

planning a short(ish) run with intervalls tomorrow.

longlivetheking · 01/04/2021 09:12

Oooh, I hope for toned slimness soon Grin

orzo15 · 01/04/2021 09:51

Hi everyone, can I join? I have always despised exercise but this year wanted to really mainly improve my mental health so started c25k. I'm over the moon, I've just done week 5 r 3 and ran for 20 mins non stop! Never ever thought I'd be able to say that Grin

redcandlelight · 01/04/2021 09:59

very well done orzo and welcome!

Randommother · 01/04/2021 10:30

Well done @orzo15, I'm planning that one for this weekend!

orzo15 · 01/04/2021 10:36

Thank you! I was so apprehensive about it, the first 5 mins were tough but then I felt at ease with it apart from the last couple mins. I listened to a podcast this time instead of music as I felt that I wouldn't try and work out the time as much as you can with songs

longlivetheking · 01/04/2021 10:37

Oh well done @orzo15 I’ve been exactly the same and W5R3 was such a big deal!

Shopgirl1 · 01/04/2021 10:41

@orzo15 well done and welcome!
You are at the same stage as me, I’m just home after doing W5 R3, I was so happy at the end of the 20 minutes to have done it I nearly was in tears!

I was so unfit until recently, cut out processed food and sugar around November last year, started walking loads, then moved to C25K and have lost 4 st in total, I’m like a new person, can’t believe I ran 20 minutes!!

Best of luck all with your runs!

BIWI · 01/04/2021 10:42

So a few of us about to start week 6 then!

Well done and welcome @orzo15

teaandbiscuitsforme · 01/04/2021 11:04

Well done Orzo! w5R3 is such a milestone!

Just completed W7R1. It wasn't easy and I still can't run up hills but pretty pleased to have done it and say I can run for 25 mins.

EmilyDickinson · 01/04/2021 12:49

That’s amazing, well done Orzo, Shopgirl and teaandbiscuits, what a day of achievements 🎉
