Can we make a Les Mills on demand thread?

Upsidedownrightnow · 05/06/2020 14:54

I'm just wondering if others are using Les Mills on demand and if we could maybe check in with each other to discuss what we are doing and what our goals are etc?

I am trying to loose 1 stone and doing 5:2 but i eat too much on my non-fasting days so I don't really loose any weight, so I'm adding exercise in the hope of shifting some weight Smile

So far I have done bodycombat 3 times this week for about half an hour each and some weights and flexibility training, but I think from next week I will be adding in bodypump

Is anyone else using this? I am really enjoying it so far Smile

Yes I was hoping for a new combat this month! I know what you mean about Pump. I like the results, but when I'm actually doing it if there's not something (cough Marlon dancing) to make it a bit more interesting to watch it does feel like more of a slog than Combat etc.

Fillybuster · 03/08/2020 23:53

So glad I’ve got you guys for 113 feedback: the comments really put me off giving it a try this evening. Plus my resistance bands finally arrived so I thought I should do CX for a change. Which was all well and good, but didn’t deliver the sweaty BP high I’ve come to love so much. 30 mins was also waaaaay too short but I didn’t have the mental energy to load up something else at the end. What do you all do to go with a CX workout? Or are there longer ones that I’ve not spotted yet?

jerometheturnipking · 04/08/2020 09:09

30 mins is the longest CX, although I think they might be trialling a 45 minute format based on what I've read about future releases. I tend to either just do CX by itself if I'm having a "I can't be arsed but I really should do something" day, or more usually if I've got the time I'll tack it onto the end of a combat or pump - the ab track on combat in particular doesn't tend to be massively challenging but I always feel a CX the next day.

I've had a quick watch of some of the tracks on Combat 113 while having breakfast this morning - it looks brilliant, I can't wait to give it a go!

jerometheturnipking · 04/08/2020 09:32

Combat 83, not 113 🤦🏻‍♀️

gingerscot · 04/08/2020 15:18

Yeah, I tag CX onto a combat or sh’bam.
I heard too that they’re about to release a 45min version.

Just did the new combat and I liked it. Not sure what all the complaining is about and I think it will really grow on me too, has a bit of an old school vibe about it. Some of the choreo is tricky, but I like that, keeps the brain active and distracted from the pain.
I’ve done combat long enough to pick it up easily but if you’re newer some of it might take a few goes.

I was sweaty, heart rate at cardio/peak and burned about 450 calories so all good. Missed Dan (apparently his wife was about to give birth to their third so he couldn’t travel) but Rach and Marlon rocked it out. And Lulu - I like her!

gingerscot · 04/08/2020 15:19

Oh and I “feel” my chest and biceps from pump 113 yesterday - so good when you can feel it from a change up 💪🏻😊

jerometheturnipking · 04/08/2020 16:04

I did the new combat this morning and really liked it too! Watch says I burned 467 calories doing it, and that’s with having to take a 10 min break after track 3 to answer the phone (so frustrating when that happens!). I was a sweaty mess, and I didn’t feel stressed out by trying to figure out the choreography which is a bonus.

It was weird with no Dan but it was nice seeing Lulu from pump there.

FizzyPink · 05/08/2020 14:45

I haven't read through the thread so apologies if this has been asked before but has anyone used something like this for Pump?

I'm desperate to get back to it but there's no gyms near us that do Les Mills and I can't see myself going back to the office for quite some time so seems silly to rejoin the gym near work

MsMartini · 05/08/2020 19:55

I often do a CX after something else - a run or a Combat class.

I've used normal dumbells (just 5kg) for Pump - I mainly do bodyweight training and have done the odd Pump class on my days off but with light weights just to get me moving

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 06/08/2020 11:45

I did the BodyBalance for cyclists after a long ride on Monday and pulled something in my back - I haven't been able to do any BodyPump or BodyBalance classes all week. I really miss it!

jerometheturnipking · 06/08/2020 12:08

I've done Combat 83 for the last 3 days now. I really like it Grin. I might give it a rest tomorrow and do Pump and CX instead.

gingerscot · 06/08/2020 17:24

@Turnedouttoes I bought this mirafit.co.uk/mirafit-20kg-studio-pump-set.html set during lockdown and it’s fine - just check the page every day and they get new stock quite regularly. You need to be quick when it’s there though.

@WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa - great user name, remember that one from when I led brownies and now I’ll have that ear worm all day 😂. I too, once pulled a back muscle doing balance of all things. It’s a bloomin nightmare. Just as I was recovering, I then re-pulled it in attack! I had been taking it easy but got complacent and jumped too high and knew it had ripped before I landed. It still niggles now and again. Rest is the only thing for it, in my experience (I’m not good at following my own advice mind.)

@jerometheturnipking I’m loving combat #83 too - just done it for the 3rd day in a row too. I LOVE tracks 7 and 8. The downward street brawl with an actual jump - it’s such a great stress release. And the track 8 feels like it’s never gonna end - love Rach in it, “it’s not the woman in the fight, it’s the size of the fight in the woman.” Hell yeah 👊🏻

nbee84 · 06/08/2020 22:41

Finally did pump 113 yesterday evening - I had my grandson here for a long weekend so my lounge was taken over with baby equipment Grin I think it's a good release, not struck on a couple of the songs but they usually grow on me. And biceps was fun! The chest track must have been good as that's where I can feel it today.

Did a 9k run this evening and planning on trying the new combat tomorrow.

jerometheturnipking · 07/08/2020 08:31

I took my chest a couple of days to calm down after doing Pump 113 Grin I feel Combat 83 in my shoulders/upper back. It must be all the downward street brawl punches gingerscot Grin It's such a good stress reliever.

I'm trying to decide what to do this morning. I'm thinking of doing Combat (because I'm visiting my mum today so won't get out for a walk/get to do other cardio today) but following it up with the short upper body Pump to get some strength training in too because I feel guilty that I haven't touched a weight since Monday now. The problems we have Grin

sociallydistained · 07/08/2020 23:14

This week I've done the new Combat 83 - loved it! I may do it again tomorrow. I'm due to do Pump but as a previous poster mentioned, it's the one I least look forward to and also I like adding to my step count which Pump obviously does the least so if I haven't done a lot otherwise I'm less inclined to do it Blush

I've also done Grit Cardio 26 (burrrrrpeeeees!!) - i tacked the new combat 83 20 min cardio version onto the end... almost didn't make it!!
And Bodyattack 106 which I always enjoy!

Also did a run on one day so a good week for me overall and hoping for another tomorrow (I have had weekends off for ages!) ... I am still ticking off the game changer plan even though I'm doing it in whatever order I fancy now!

nbee84 · 08/08/2020 09:37

I did the 45min pump 113 this morning.
Liked both the combi tracks 👍

gingerscot · 10/08/2020 16:10

I was feeling the Monday blues today. Went out for lunch to take advantage of the 50% off and support local indy cafe and just had that mid afternoon slump. Really couldn’t be bothered.

I put sh’bam 29 on (an all time fave), made myself start and by the end of track 2, my mood and energy had lifted and I’ve been so productive the rest of the afternoon.

Exercise really is a great medicine, eh? Love those endorphins (and the 400calorie burn - not as big as combat but not sure I could have faced that earlier.)

jerometheturnipking · 10/08/2020 17:50

It really is! It’s also the best tonic for a case of the can’t-be-arsed.

I did combat 83 today followed by the new CX - another of those “I’m only doing this because I know it’s good for me” jobs though. I really should do pump again soon, I’m starting to feel the guilt 😬

sociallydistained · 10/08/2020 21:08

I did Pump 113 yesterday after not doing pump for a good number of weeks... wow am I in pain today 😂 But I had Grit 27 on my list today so I just got on with it. Squats extremely painful at first but I've loosened up now. Grit should be illegal in this heat!! But I'm really glad I've done it.

nbee84 · 10/08/2020 21:12

Sometimes you just need to put that kit on and have a go - most times you end up loving it! I was hot and couldn't be bothered when I got home from work but had an hour til dh got home so thought I ought to make use of that hour. My knee is playing me up a bit from all the running so I did 113 upper body and the short version of the new cxworx, really enjoyed it. I need to do more abs work really, definiteley feel like I've slipped backwards on the abs front and end up taking the 'easier' option more than I used to!

jerometheturnipking · 11/08/2020 11:00

I did the 45min pump 113 this morning, with the intention of following it up with CX again but my core is feeling pretty fired up after yesterday so thought it was better to give it a rest. I'm not as keen on the combined tracks in this release - tricep pushups aren't my favourite and the choreography of the lunge/shoulders took me a while to get used to.

gingerscot · 11/08/2020 12:06

I’ve just done pump 113 too and feel much better for getting it done early.
It’s never as bad as I think either, the thought of it is worse. I totally relate to the pump guilt! I haven’t done the combos yet - I prefer to do the 55min and skip lunges and cooldown - I stretch in between tracks anyway.

And well done @sociallydistained for managing grit after doing pump for the first time in ages. I don’t think I’ll ever forget the pain the day after my first ever pump. It was 17 years ago (god, that’s flown in!) and I sent people to pick up stuff from photocopier/get me water etc all day rather than get up 😂. it never hurts like that again thankfully.

@nbee84 - you’re so right, my motto for years and years now has been “you never regret going” (when we were allowed in actual gyms, still shut in Scotland). That’s what I tell myself when I’m debating in my head whether I can be bothered. It’s served me well.

Not sure I’ll get out for a walk today, we’re having Ninja showers and lots of rumbling thunder so I might do a combat or sh’bam at lunch time. I am LOVING combat 83 even more every time I do it. It’s a massive calorie burner.

Floofsquidge · 11/08/2020 13:01

@gingerscot my first pump was about 7 years ago, thought I was all fine & it was pretty easy... until I tried to walk down stairs or lower myself to the loo seat! GrinBlush
Thankfully never had those "first time" pains again, even after a longish break.

MozzchopsThirty · 12/08/2020 19:22

Did Combat 61 tonight ....... OMG

Burnt 609 calories Shock although it nearly killed me in this heat

sociallydistained · 12/08/2020 22:12

Oh yes nothing compared to the day after your first ever Pump!! Not being able to walk down the stairs, or put your coat on or sit on the toilet without actually howling in pain!
That return to it after a month or so is pretty brutal but not like that haha. I felt Grit loosened me up a bit next day and then I did the new combat the next day... rest day today finally and I can sit down without any pain. I think Attack tomorrow! I like to switch it up.
