I've done consolidation run 1, performed pretty much the same as my graduation run but I've planned out a 5k route which I'm going to stick to, my aim is to get a lamppost further each time. Having the strava voiceover helps too, it tells you when you've hit each 1/2k and your time and pace.
@HGC2 congratulations, great distance in 30 minutes. You're on the same plan as me.
@TryingToBeBold well done on graduation and going 40 minutes. 33 minutes has been my limit so far which has been my favourite run too. I have yet to quiet the voice that tells me I can't do it, it's like a constant battle with myself. I can sometimes zone out for 5minutes but rarely longer than that. I'm yet to enjoy the scenery on the way round.
@YorkshireParentalPerson give it a go, I promise you no one will be interested in you when you're out running, and I mean that in a nice way. I see in a later post you've been out, well done.
@TwistyHair @choc27 I hope you're getting some relief from the injuries, I have no practical advice but can imagine how frustrating that must be. The health unlocked forum says you don't lose any fitness over the course of not exercising for two weeks and after that its a slow decline. I know I start to panic if I miss a run thinking all my hard work will be wasted but apparently not.
@imamearcat fantastic time, that's amazing. What a bruise!! I think you need a challenge like 10k, you've absolutely annihilated 5k.
@carrottopper I'm not weighing myself as I'd be horrified but my jeans feel a little looser round the waist. My calves are much bigger and my thighs are a little more toned.
@Mysterian well done on 30 minutes, I cried the first time I did it
@JonHammIsMyJamm congrats, another graduate! What's your plan from now?
@Bagelsandbrie well done, learning how to pace yourself is part of the programme and is really important on the longer runs. I only learned it after failing a couple of runs.
@BekindStayhome well done on week 9. Health unlocked has a C25K forum with loads of great advice but they recommend always having at least one rest day even for very experienced runners, it's all to avoid injury and let your body recover. I currently take two rest days, I can just tell my muscles need it.
@Sunshineandflipflops well done, another very decent time for a 5k. And @Farontothemaddingcrowd too, well done. My hr is very high naturally, it was over 200 in the gym and the machine told me to stop. I went to gp and I was anaemia but they did an ecg and said they weren't concerned if there was no chest pain. I haven't measured it since C25k so I wonder if it's any lower?
@Castoreum well done, keep up the hard work.
@granadagirl don't be embarrassed, no one will be given you a second thought once you've passed. I am a wobbly red-faced mess chugging along but I couldn't care less now. The only person I'm trying to compete with is myself, I'm now too old to care what others think.
@Murmurur go for the 20. It's totally doable at this point, you will amaze yourself.
Wow, a long post. I must check in more regularly as this thread moves fast
