Anyone up for some Fit February after Red January

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 01/02/2020 11:27

Determined to keep some momentum
Not sure I'll manage something every day but want to keep up my half marathon training and need to get back in the gym for some toning and strength work
Think I might use this thread a bit like the red January thread to keep me on track

Like this and I already started Feb with a run to keep the habit up! Tomorrow we are at a national trust place so I guess plenty of walking. Trying to keep it chill but want to put something on my calendar every day no matter what that might be!

In Red Jan I built healthy habits, travelled 221 miles! And lost 10lb total! I'm really chuffed. Found my love of movement again and feel that it's made me appreciate the process of calories in/calories out more in order to actually lose some weight!

KillingEvenings · 01/02/2020 22:31

Waves hello. I'm integrating yoga as im stiff as anything but plan to keep RED up through half term and then see where i am. thanks for keeping me going

RomaineCalm · 02/02/2020 00:26

I'm here!

RedSoloCup · 02/02/2020 00:27

Yes !!!

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 02/02/2020 13:52

Right
45 minute gym session done
Not sure I'll manage something every single day but am aiming for 24 activities this month
So that's one down 23 to go

I've finally got to the 20 mins straight running part of couch to 5k lol.

Anyone have the "active 10" app? By the nhs too? Tracks your walking and how many mins are brisk and sets targets. It's inspired me to add to my brisk walking total today!

RubySlippers77 · 03/02/2020 11:22

That app sounds great @CantstandmLMs! I do a lot of walking but it's mostly ambling. Hopefully the app will give me some motivation to get quicker!

I'm hoping to keep moving in February plus add in some cardio and yoga. DTS1 loves doing kids yoga with me, we have been hungry caterpillars, farm animals etc Grin

Skintness means no gym/ exercise classes possible but YouTube is my friend for cardio!

CantstandmLMs · 03/02/2020 21:06

Run done today! I've filled in everyday in Feb so far haha

KillingEvenings · 03/02/2020 22:05

Did my run this morning, but even though run on sunday was a relatively short one, my legs were like lead this morning. I'm trying to do yoga before going out and it's not the most strenuous but maybe it;s too much for me. I'll give it through the rest of the week and see...

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 05/02/2020 21:37

Gym session done tonight
Feeling a bit more like my old self now that the January lurgy is gone
Also walking to and from work in daylight is certainly helping

:) I’m in!
I worked on the 1st, but then I went for a long walk with the dog and friends.
2nd I did my body pump class
3rd I did nothing I’m afraid.
4th I did Pilates

Today I ran 5k, did a spinning class and a Pilates one.

I’m still finding my happy medium :)

ShinyGiratina · 05/02/2020 22:10

Having an easy week after RED January, but keeping up with yoga every day at least.
I thought my legs would feel amazing after a few rest days, but I feel like I've got onions embedded in my calf muscles!

BuddhaAtSea · 05/02/2020 22:31

Do you ice them, @shinygiratina? And use a foam roller?

RomaineCalm · 05/02/2020 22:36

I've managed to keep it going so far, even though Saturday was just a quick walk. This weekend is going to be tricky though but I don't want a gap on my Garmin calendar! ☺️

KillingEvenings · 06/02/2020 09:42

I know what you mean Romaine. I don't necessarily have a drive to keep going forever and have told myself that dropping to 5 runs a week would be a good (though I also like hobnob's goal of 24 for the month) but I can't face the day when I say -this is the day I broke my streak-.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 07/02/2020 11:56

Gym session done this morning as I have a day off work
That's another one done

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 07/02/2020 11:57

I took it up a notch today and bought a myzone belt for the gym when in my Bootcamp class this morning I noticed those with them were burning over 600 calories and my Fitbit was reporting 350 (and I was working really hard!!).

...as I just got it this evening I took it out for a run so that's two workouts today. My feet hurt beyond belief!!

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 08/02/2020 13:13

Gym again today
4 down 19 to go

OP posts:
BuddhaAtSea · 08/02/2020 16:27

I did a 12k run this morning. I am exhausted.
Are we doing 24 a month?

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 08/02/2020 17:27

I've set 24 as a goal for this month
Think I'm going to try and set goals each month
Next month it's going to be more runs as I'm training for a half
Currently trying to get back in shape post Xmas and lurgy
24 seems doable allowing for some rest days as I'm pretty sore today

I boiled myself in an epsom salt bath after parkrun yesterday Grin Running on Thursday was a bit grim, but my muscles seem to be easing out now. I did a hillier parkrun than usual and ran faster than expected. Smile I think I'd just gone so long without full rest days since late December that it's taken a bit longer for the tension to ease off.

I've got the osteopath on Tuesday, so I'll try and squeeze in a long run tomorrow before my HM in two weeks.

I have got a foam roller, but I really struggle to do much with my calves on it. I've got quite bulky muscles and the tension tends to be quite deep so I never feel like the roller really gets into it.

I think it's a bedtime yoga day. I had a rare lie in due to junior parkrun being cancelled, so didn't get into gear for my usual morning session.

BuddhaAtSea · 09/02/2020 17:58

I need to get some Epsom salts.
God, I haven’t had a lie in in so long! Sunday mornings I do body pump, which I did today. I desperately need a stretch class.
6/24 then.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 09/02/2020 18:12

Been a bit creaky getting back into the gym but today it felt a bit better
Need the weather to perk up a bit so I can get some runs in
Used the steam room and jacuzzi today so feel nicely chilled
And the Wine is poured
This thread helps keep
Me on track
