Just done W4R3....sllooowwlllyyy! Pace of 11'23". Legs hurt and felt rubbish. Managed it though.

AvonCallingBarksdale · 16/04/2018 20:08

Just well done for keeping going - another one ticked off.

TeaAndBisquits · 16/04/2018 20:50

I've just completed W3R1 and I'm shattered!!

Still impressed I managed a full 3 minutes though.. twice! Roll on Wednesday for the next instalment.

RocketPockets · 17/04/2018 07:19

@MagicJay I really recommend keeping going with the programme. I was really daunted by he 3 minute runs but they aren't actually as bad as you think they're gonna be.
I've just completed W3R2 and felt really good after. I've got a very sore throat though 😩
One more W3 run and then I'm onto the 5 minute ones, slightly apprehensive about that but determined to keep going 💪

MagicJay · 17/04/2018 16:14

Ok will give it my best shot tomorrow Rocket - thanks for spurring me on!

AvonCallingBarksdale · 17/04/2018 18:50

Just done W2R2. Really struggle with evening runs, much prefer first thing but needs must. Cannot imagine being able to run for 30 mins flat even though 6 years ago I could run 10Ks Sad

JustLikeTheySaid · 17/04/2018 21:34

Did W5R1 today. Was okay. The next run looks possible but W5R3 looks a bit random - why the sudden jump to 20mins? I might just skip that out and go to Wk6.

travellingwithoutmoving · 18/04/2018 05:21

Justliketheysaid don't skip it Shock that's the run where it all changes and you will start to believe it's possible! Make sure you choose a flat, easy route and take it slow. I was really worried about this run last week and did a lot of reading about why it jumps, it's about mind over body. If you've done the rest of the runs up to this point then you are physically capable no matter what your head tells you.

MagicJay · 18/04/2018 07:26

@JustLikeTheySaid when I last did this (8 years ago!) I really struggled with that run and kept repeating it over and over. I never quite got there and was getting downhearted. So I moved onto week 6 and progressed from there.

My advice would be to give it a go and see how well you get on. Don't write it off without trying it.

Caulk · 18/04/2018 07:32

JUst wanted to jump onto the thread. I started c25k a few weeks ago and yesterday did the 20min run. It is possible, and you’ll be so proud of how far you’ve come. Keep going!

JustLikeTheySaid · 18/04/2018 07:45

I just don't understand how it goes from 8 min splits to a solid 20min and then back to 10min splits? If you can run 20min why bother with the splits again - and if you still need the splits then why try to run for so long?! I'm wary of giving it a go because so far I haven't stopped once - but I feel pretty sure I'm not ready to go from 8 mins to 20 mins overnight?!

Caulk · 18/04/2018 07:52

I thought that too, but thought I’d give it a try. About half way through, they say that although it’s hard, it’s abour training your mind into thinking you can do it. I decided to focus on that when it got hard, as I’ve run with my legs tired before, it was my mind which was stopping me.

LIZS · 18/04/2018 18:20

W2r2 done on a very hot afternoon. It apparently wasn't as fast as r1.

TeaAndBisquits · 19/04/2018 07:04

Morning all!

I did my W3R2 yesterday evening as it was far too hot during the day. It's supposed to be even hotter today so I'm pleased it's a rest day.

How is everyone else getting on?

RocketPockets · 19/04/2018 09:00

Hello!
I did my W3R3 this morning, I have nights this weekend so I'm now going to have 4 days of no running and my next run will be on Tuesday.
I'm not sure whether to repeat W3R3 or just crack on with W4? I'm not sure how much 4 days of no running will affect me 🤷‍♀️
Anyone got any experience of this?

Travellinghopefully2018 · 19/04/2018 13:52

I would crack on rockets but that’s because I’m impatient and like to tick another run off! You could always return to repeat if you struggle?

We are having a bad week of illness in our house so missed one run and not sure if I’ll be well enough to run tomorrow, so annoying. Not sure whether to just go out and see but haven’t had to back down on a run yet so really don’t want to!

I found the 20 min run was such as a psychological milestone that it has really spurred me on. It was weird how i got into the zone and the time passed quicker than it felt!

I’m actually missing running this week, which would have sounded ridiculous to me mere weeks ago!

JustLikeTheySaid · 19/04/2018 17:20

20min run DONE! Still feel quite slow (1km in 9min59sec!) but I did it! :D

MagicJay · 19/04/2018 17:54

Not been out since Monday. Will go tomorrow.

RocketPockets · 19/04/2018 18:45

I think I am just gonna crack on because I like doing it each week properly and if I repeat one I'll be doing W3 and W4 in the same week if you see what I mean 🙈
Would rather just carry on with it and hope I haven't lost some stamina!

Luuby86 · 19/04/2018 20:07

Hey everyone, so nice to hear how everyone is getting on at the various different stages, it feels like such a nice little c25k community. I'm just back from the hottest ever w4r2 run!! My god I was sweaty, but still managed my 3rd ever fastest run. Can't complain really.... 🏃‍♀️🌞🏃‍♀️

Travellinghopefully2018 · 20/04/2018 10:23

Nice one Luuby!

Rockets I think I read here, or on another thread, that you don’t lose fitness as quickly as you gain it, which is reassuring!

Got out and did w6r1 this morning. Feel so much better for getting out even though I still have a sore throat.

MagicJay · 20/04/2018 11:52

I totally agree Luuby86, a very supportive thread.

I like that fact about gaining fitness faster than losing it. I do worry if I've left it too long between runs sometimes and when I e tried to do this before it has become an excuse to quit.

Just did W3R1 which I was very daunted by but I managed both of the 3 minute runs. Still finding it a slog but it was certainly a breakthrough! I didn't time it very well (mid morning on a hot day and having had no breakfast) and I was super dizzy at the end of it.

My big achievement though is that I'm not in a great frame of mind at the moment (lots going on that I'm struggling with) and I was in a really negative mindset about going out today. I'm so glad I forced myself out to do it. Smile. I figured that I could either choose to be stressed and unfit or choose to be stressed and fitter, so it became a bit of a no-brainier, but OMG the teapot and biscuit jar were screaming at me to not bother!

AvonCallingBarksdale · 21/04/2018 09:26

Well done MagicJay Smile I’m just back from W3R1 - went early enough for it not to be too hot. Amazed that I managed the 3 mins without stopping. I’ve got Jo Whiley in my app, really like her. Cup of tea now!

Luuby86 · 21/04/2018 10:09

I'm. Just back from W4R3. Felt quite good during the middle part of the session, I was even a little 'bouncier' but by the last run I was back to my usual feet shuffle along the floor! Found the last run hard, and had a headache by the end, but I did go out on an empty stomach which I don't think is a great idea for me.

LIZS · 22/04/2018 18:10

W2r3 done this morning, although our route went a bit awry and ended up taking a detour which elongated it!
