Good job everyone!! Hope the baby is better now otis

rocket I just did W2R1 and it was not as bad as expected...I was really going super fast on the last W1R3 as I had it in my head there was a 5 minute run this week.

I made sure to go steady for the longer 2min run section this time....I am on the cross trainer though, so it is much easier to monitor and maintain speed.

and Sarah said well done, Flower when I was finished so she surely appreciated my good work! Hmmat eejit-self! :o

We are away at the end of next week, so I have a dilemma as to whether to skip it, or go public. I would really rather not do either, the real world does not deserve my wobble on the canal paths of the UK

I think I might do tomorrow and tues/weds on the cross trainer and get W2 over with, but take my trainers and walk an extra one or two over the weekend....am really concerned about my ankles...they are very flimsy for a woman of my stature and I know I can walk on real ground (for miles and miles) without provoking them esp in my proper trainers. Last time it was just a pair of random fancyfashion type trainers and excess baggage that caused Anklegate I hope! Maybe with the right shoes I'd be fine?

MagicJay · 08/04/2018 19:29

I did W1R3 today which was still quite hard work. I'm a bit worried that the week 2 runs are going to be too hard. I took the dog again but she got in the way again so perhaps my dream of running with her isn't going to happen.

fruityb · 08/04/2018 20:00

Bah I won’t be running for the next couple of days I appear to have picked up a chesty cough which has left me rattley and poorly!

MsHomeSlice · 08/04/2018 20:11

dogs are weird about running! Of my two GSDs it was the ninnymuggins one who loved it best, running along side me in perfect time, slowing for a walk, and just loving it, the sensible one did not like it one bit and heartily disapproved of anyone moving at speed.

RocketPockets · 08/04/2018 20:27

MsHome that's really good to know thank you! I'm still a bit nervous about it, going 6am tomorrow and I've got AF do not feeling great but hoping it will help with cramps tomorrow. My blisters are almost healed up and I'm not aching at all today!

MagicJay · 09/04/2018 08:28

Get well soon Fruityb.

Rockets - I'm impressed with the 6am start!! Now it's getting lighter I often pledge to run then too but bed is too warm and comfy!

Also though, I find that if I exercise early in the day I then eat like a horse afterwards as I go into Reward Mode. Peak exercise time for me is 4.30-6pm.

JustLikeTheySaid · 09/04/2018 13:33

I'm starting today! W1R1. I don't know if I will manage it, I tried a park run on Saturday and nearly died!

slippermaiden · 09/04/2018 13:35

I've been doing it for a few weeks, just went out this morning and did week 7, run 1. It definitely feels easier and I'm actually running the whole thing. Hope this gives someone positive vibes x

bagelbaby · 09/04/2018 13:56

Hi. Just started. About to do W1 R2. Got the NGS app but can't find accompanying music except for 'graduates' of the program.
Any advice?
Cheers
And keep going!

JustLikeTheySaid · 09/04/2018 16:04

W1R1 done! Was easier than I was expecting which is good - though it seems to get much harder quite quickly!

@bagelbaby I just play my Spotify playlist and then it plays the NHS app over the top :)

Luuby86 · 09/04/2018 16:58

Just back from w3r1. The first 3 mins was a bit of a shock, but overall it wasn't too bad! Even felt like we could have done one more run at the end 😊

Jeffjefftyjeff · 09/04/2018 17:09

I ran w6 run 3 today. That is 25 minutes of running. TWENTY FIVE MINUTES!!! This is longer than I’ve ever run in my life. Even in cross country at school I used to walk after about 200m as I knew a short cut. Still don’t pretend to love it but just chug along slowly and it gets done. Good luck everyone who is in the earlier weeks - if I can do it anyone can!

RocketPockets · 09/04/2018 18:38

W2R1 done first thing this morning! Was chucking it down but I kind of like running in the rain! The nylon socks I bought from primark make such a difference, so pleased I got them and I'm only aching today from a long day on my feet at work.
Magic it feels good getting up and going as if I left it till later in the day I know I'd think of reasons not too. I have really busy evenings so find it's tons easier to go out first thing and get it over and done with! Smile

Travellinghopefully2018 · 09/04/2018 20:37

Hi, can I join? Got w5r1 scheduled for 7am tomorrow morning! I really struggled on the w4 runs until the last one when felt like things clicked and got the pace right. Still can’t believe I might be able to run for longer than 5 mins soon but really enjoying the programme so far!

TeaAndBisquits · 09/04/2018 20:55

I did W2R1 today too Rocket and I found it easier than I expected.

I too also prefer running in the rain, but feel the evening runs are better for me. I seem to enjoy them more as I can destress from the day.

Glad the nylon socks worked.

Planning W2R2 on Wednesday evening.

Also pleased to hear it seems to get easier as you go along. The thought of running solidly for a prolonged period of time puts the fear of god in me!! 😂

fruityb · 09/04/2018 21:21

Still got a thick chest so can’t run yet. Not happy about it either! I should be running week 8!

MagicJay · 09/04/2018 21:38

Hi there. I also did W2R1 this evening. Not half as bad as I expected!!

RocketPockets · 10/04/2018 08:47

This morning I've managed to knock my knee and it's really sore. Hoping it's feeling better tomorrow so I can do W2R2 🤞 slightly worried it's going to be too sore as it's swollen up a bit Confused

Topazwithpearls · 10/04/2018 11:00

Hope your knee recovers quickly Rocket. If it is still swollen, maybe try to follow RICE. I hurt my knee last year and a day of doing this led to a quick recovery.

I did W2R1 yesterday and found it OK. I did it in the morning as I am off work this week. It will be harder next week when I am back in the busy routine.

Good luck to everyone who is running today!

LIZS · 10/04/2018 12:00

W1r2 done. Although the paths are so muddy and slippery not sure how much actual running we did.

MagicJay · 10/04/2018 12:00

Ouch, Rocket! You are in the wars at the moment aren't you.

Liking the RICE suggestion. Not heard of that before.

No running today as have PT session later.

RocketPockets · 10/04/2018 18:55

Thank you topaz and magic I've been icing it today and the swelling has gone down, I had to walk into town earlier (only 5 minutes) and it felt fine so hopefully will be fine in the morning!

Well done lizs I think getting out there is the most important thing!
I got some new running pants and thinner jacket today as it's supposedly getting warmer next week Smile

JustLikeTheySaid · 11/04/2018 18:10

Feeling very proud of myself, I decided to skip the end of Wk1 and all of Wk2 because I didn't think I was pushing myself hard enough, and I just did wk3r1 absolutely fine!

I don't know what's got into me, this sudden motivation. I've tried to take up running a million times before and always failed.

I even sort of enjoyed myself?!

JustLikeTheySaid · 11/04/2018 18:11

Hope your knee gets better Rocket!

MagicJay · 11/04/2018 18:25

Ooh that's impressive JustLikeTheySaid.

Have to do mine tomorrow as am visiting my mother this evening.

How's the knee, Rocket?
