The goal is fitness, although weight loss would be an added bonus.
I've a young family so time and motivation are my biggest obstacles but am determined.

The knee feels a lot better thank you! It's got a nice bruise but I've been on my feet all day at work!
However I did knock my elbow at work today but that shouldn't affect the running 🤦‍♀️😂
I swear I am the most clumsy person I know! I'm surprised I haven't fallen whilst running yet.
That's awesome just! Well done, I was thinking today I feel like I need to push myself a bit more. I also realised that I have nights next weekend so won't be able to run on the Friday morning. Has anyone done two runs in a row? It says to have a days rest between but will it matter if I do two and then have three days off?

JustLikeTheySaid · 12/04/2018 08:44

I've run every day so far this week. Rest days are definitely important later on... I decided so long as I felt fine it was fine!

MagicJay · 12/04/2018 17:22

I did two runs in a row on Sunday / Monday and will do two again tomorrow / Saturday. I will take it easy on the first one so I’m ok for the second one.

Where is everyone else? I do hope everyone is still running.

hornetgirl · 12/04/2018 21:52

I am up to W2R3 due tomorrow or Saturday. Going well so far, my best running was on a proper track, but most of it has been on a treadmill in the gym. Still running in trainers from Sainsbury's, I can't justify a proper pair yet - got to run a bit more!

LIZS · 12/04/2018 21:59

Think I might need to upgrade trainers. Skechers don't really provide enough support or sole grip to cope with muddy footpaths. Any suggestions? Think next run is due tomorrow.

Luuby86 · 12/04/2018 22:08

I did w3r2 this evening, and managed to pick the biggest hill for the first 3 minute run. I was almost crawling at one point!! Going for a flatter run on Saturday morning. Glad I did it though.

RocketPockets · 12/04/2018 22:26

I have got W2 R3 tomorrow and I've just realised that means W3 next week 😱
I'm also running in supermarket trainers which I think are fine for now but I definitely need to upgrade when I'm really into it.
Can't really afford them now either 😩
I think I'm going to do two runs in a row next week and then the same the following week so I'm still doing 3 a week. I don't really want to fall behind! Will see how I feel next week though :)

Travellinghopefully2018 · 13/04/2018 10:51

Just done w5r2 in the drizzle and mud! Felt ok but still don’t feel ready for 20 mins in one go next 😮

Getting bored of my flat running routes but every other option is uphill, not ready for that! Well done for tackling your hill Luuby!

Good luck for everyone moving onto their next weeks. We can do this!

Travellinghopefully2018 · 13/04/2018 10:56

LIZS I went for gait analysis at my local running shop and they recommended shoes for me. I got Brooks GTS as they correct over pronation and give your foot good support. I have a history of hip and knee problems so I wanted to be really confident I wasn’t going to wreck things with ill fitting shoes. These were expensive though. Good incentive to keep running! Now I know my size though I can shop around next time I need trainers (hopefully not for a while)

MagicJay · 13/04/2018 19:32

W2R2 just done. On top of that I took the dog for a 2 hour walk and cleared out the garage. I am exhausted now!

Good to see lots more people on the thread especially those ahead in the programme.

I'm now going to sit in a very hot shower until I turn into a prune.

LIZS · 13/04/2018 19:38

Will have to think about expensive shoes although last time I did give up when my knee got sore. Wore a pair of dd's outgrown asics today which were comfy but grip no better. We ended up spending more time trying to stay upright in squelching mud than running! Need to rethink our routes until the land dries out but main road is dull.

TeaAndBisquits · 13/04/2018 22:10

W2R3 done tonight. I'm feeling positive for next week. I think this C25K might even work!

How is everyone else getting on?

travellingwithoutmoving · 14/04/2018 06:49

W5R3 achieved! Feels like such a milestone. I really didn't believe I was capable of 20min non-stop. I struggled with each jump from 90s-3min-5min. Somehow this does work Smile

Well done to everyone making such good progress.

AvonCallingBarksdale · 14/04/2018 08:45

Please can I join? Tomorrow I start W2R1. First week was fine - am doing it with 13 yo DS as my partner ( his Parkrun pb is 19 mins so he’s SIGNIFICANTLY faster than I’m aiming for Grin ). I’ve put a Parkrun in the calendar for June 2 as motivation - really want to be able to run the whole way.

MagicJay · 14/04/2018 12:09

Oh wow! Well done travelling - I remember that when I did C25k before the W5R3 run eluded me completely. I tried for about 3 weeks before giving up and moving on to week 6. But I got there in the end. For me it was probably a mental block rather than a fitness block, and I won't be surprised if it happens again this time. But at least I know not to get down hearted about it and just keep trying and then move on.

Lovely to have you join us Avon. Great idea about the Park Run - will look into my local one too.

Am going to try and do W2R3 later tonight, because I've got a boozy dinner party tonight on the cards and I'd rather not try and run it tomorrow with a hangover!

RocketPockets · 15/04/2018 08:19

I decided to do W3 R1 this morning and then run Tuesday and Thursday as I can't run Friday morning. Went better than I expected, was a bit more nerve racking than normal as there were some drunk guys around still as it was so early!
Looking forward to run 2 on Tuesday morning Smile
Well don't to everyone who's still going 💪

I just did my w5r3 too! Logged on earlier to find some encouragement as I was nervous about 20 mins in one go and when I saw travellingwithoutmoving had done it, I thought this travelling girl can do it too Grin and I did! And I enjoyed it. This programme is awesome. Well done everyone Star

AvonCallingBarksdale · 15/04/2018 11:23

W2R1 done after a night of wine Grin. Tiring but not awful and v pleased I’ve done it!

travellingwithoutmoving · 15/04/2018 11:33

Well done travellinghopefully2018! It really does work doesn't it. Onwards to week 6 for us and hope the progress continues.

RocketPockets · 15/04/2018 12:43

It's so good to see others progressing! I don't think I'll ever be able to run 20 mins in one go at this stage, I struggle with 3 🙈

LIZS · 15/04/2018 14:59

W2r1 done here. Found a route with a mix of terrain and interest.

travellingwithoutmoving · 15/04/2018 15:10

rocketpockets I felt exactly the same a few weeks ago, could barely manage the 3 minutes and couldn't comprehend managing 20. Stick with the programme to the letter and have faith!

Luuby86 · 16/04/2018 17:54

Just back from W4R1..... Not going to lie, the last 5min run was tough!! Wasn't sure we would make it, but then some cyclists appeared so we couldn't be seen to stop (luckily my running partner is just as competitive as I am!!) feeling rather pleased with myself now though. Just tonights thai boxing session to make it through now!

MagicJay · 16/04/2018 18:36

Just did W2R3. It was ok. I find that it's not so much the breathing but the legs aching. Very nervous about starting week 3 to the extent that I'm considering doing a couple more W2 runs. The 3 minute run seems incredibly daunting. For those that are further into the program did you feel the same?
