I did W1R2 yesterday too. I ache today though!

I'm going to do my next one on Saturday I think.

The first 2 runs are the hardest I find, then I kind of find my feet a bit.

fruityb · 05/04/2018 14:16

I’ll join - I was at the end of week 7 but have been on holiday since Saturday and won’t be back till Sunday with no running! So will be repeating week 6.

MagicJay · 05/04/2018 15:24

Hi Fruity! Welcome. Ooh week 7. You are so nearly there. That seems soooo far away to me. How did you cope with the 20min run in week 5?

fruityb · 05/04/2018 16:28

It was very daunting but actually fine once I got going! The first ten minutes are tough but at the end I sped right up to finish strong. I’ve done the three 25 minute runs but want to repeat having not run for nearly a fortnight for one reason or another.

I think C25k is the best invention ever. Someone who was sweating at one minute runs like me now enjoys being out for 25!

Emaline · 05/04/2018 16:39

I just started W4 yesterday. I'm not a natural runner and have tried and failed at C25k a couple of times before. Difference this time is I'm not running on concrete as moved house and have a convenient local sprung running track. Has made a huge difference as apart from a few tiny hip and knee niggles in the first fortnight I am managing to complete the runs exactly as instructed. When I ran on pavements before I ended up injured very quickly and having to walk some of the run sections.

I'm using the NHS app with Jo Whiley and have Spotify playlists playing behind it. The app now is so much better than the old podcasts of a couple of years ago with their own dodgy music!

I found the first 5min runs tough yesterday but then 2 weeks ago I found 90s tough so am trying to have faith in the programme and all the experienced voices on threads here who've completed it and said they could never have believed they could run for 30min but now do.

Good luck to all. We can do this!

Topazwithpearls · 05/04/2018 17:02

Hello! I have done W1 R2 today. I did it before, but switched to a combination of run/walk Galloway method when I got further on. I have done a couple of Park runs this way but since last November I have really let my fitness go. I am determined to get back to being able to do a park run again by the summer (whether by straight running or run/walking).

Luuby86 · 05/04/2018 17:39

I'm just back from w2r2 and feeling super pleased. Today was much easier, and the sunny weather was lovely! Also managed to run further today than we have before. We managed 3.47km today instead of the 2.5 we were doing last week. Next one will be Saturday @9am!

MagicJay · 05/04/2018 18:41

Everyone is doing so well. This is such a motivational thread! Looking forward to running in the morning sun tomorrow.

RocketPockets · 05/04/2018 20:17

I was looking to buy some nylon socks on amazon, they were £8 for two or three pairs, I found some in primark today for £3 for three pairs! Going to try them out in the morning, hopefully they'll rub less on my blisters 🤞

PumpkinPie2016 · 05/04/2018 21:52

Is there room for another newbie to join you?

I have just ordered some running shoes which will come on Saturday so I am planning to start then Grin

Like lots of us, I work and have a young child so life is hectic but now that the evenings are getting lighter I have decided to start.

I need to lose a bit of weight and I am unfit but can't really afford/justify gym membership so hoping this will work.

MagicJay · 06/04/2018 14:47

The more the merrier PumpkinPie!

I'm going out tomorrow now as I missed my opportunity this morning as had to take the cat to the vet.

Emaline · 06/04/2018 16:18

Is anyone else having problem with getting a stitch? Since I moved to the W4 5min runs I'm finding this a big problem. I did laugh as just after mine started, Jo Whiley talked about how it was a problem for new runners.

fruityb · 06/04/2018 20:35

Arms over your head for a minute. It works for me anyway. Put your arm up on the side the stitch is on.

There’s not a lot you can do other than slow right down or try the arm thing - that does help me.

MsHomeSlice · 06/04/2018 20:52

I am C25king on my cross trainer thing....I did about three weeks on real roads a couple of years back and farked my ankles something awful...almost six months before I could walk any distance without wanting to cut off my own feet

anyway, I keep starting it and getting sidetracked at about week three, so I am determined to get the hell on with it this time. I have W2R1 to do on saturday

I think it's the NHS app I have with Sarah Millican....I love the way she says banana at the end. a small snack, like a buh-narner

RocketPockets · 06/04/2018 21:24

Did my third run this morning! Nylon socks from primark seemed to work really well and I was a lot more comfortable. I'm aching quite a bit today but feel good for having done it!!

TeaAndBisquits · 06/04/2018 21:56

MsHomeSlice, I always smile at that bit too! I love her and her accent! Grin

TeaAndBisquits · 06/04/2018 21:56

I'm hoping to get up and out tomorrow for W1R3 while DH sorts the kids breakfast.

PumpkinPie2016 · 07/04/2018 07:47

Well done to everyone who has started!

My running trainers arrive today and a waist bag tomorrow so i will hopefully get out tomorrow Smile

Quite looking forward to starting! I'm hoping that it will help me to stop feeling so lethargic all the time.

I am trying to eat more healthily as well as I have a sweet tooth and end up eating quite a lot of chocolate/cake Blush

Otistheowl · 07/04/2018 09:02

Hi all, how is everyone doing?
I missed yesterday because the baby has been poorly. I did put in her the lram yesterday evening when OH got home and went for an hour long walk - saved my sanity if nothing else! Going to try fit in w1r3 today.
My runners are Adidas, really old but really comfy.
Thanks for the tip about stitchesfruity!
Did your trainers arrive pumpkin? I'm trying to eat more healthily too... Trying to eat proper meals and quit snacking...it's going middling well Blush

Hey all. I'm just back from this mornings rainy and muddy run! Week 2 complete!!! I never thought I would enjoy running in the rain but how wrong was I? Today's run was slightly slower and less distance than the last one, but as we do 3 different routes each week its hard to compare run to run. However our weekly pace is 45seconds per km faster than last week according to the running app... So happy days :) anybody else going out today?

TeaAndBisquits · 07/04/2018 11:24

I've just got back from my W1R3 and i found it harder today. I've been out in the rain the last two times and I think I prefer it as it keeps me cool! Today is much warmer.

I'm planning my W2R1 Monday evening so well see how we go.

MaelstromOfLunacy · 07/04/2018 16:52

Mind if I join you? I’ve just completed w1r1 this afternoon and looking to stay motivated! Smile

RocketPockets · 07/04/2018 18:25

I'm doing my W2 R1 on Monday. Is it difficult going from W1 to W2?
I've had a bit of a heavy weekend but going to do some home strength exercises tomorrow!

LIZS · 07/04/2018 18:59

First run today. Monday will be next.

MagicJay · 07/04/2018 19:40

Didn't manage to go out today as we had an impromptu day out with the kids. Early bed tonight so I'll get out first thing.

Lovely to see more people joining in and well done to those who have already started.
