That’s really helpful Fate thank you. Not remotely fit or sporty so I’ll be keeping the warm up walk for now!

DomesticAnarchist · 10/11/2018 14:49

Really interesting and helpful stuff @FATEdestiny, thanks.

I've mitched off for a week and a half 😳 but very conscious that if I didn't get back on it I never would. So I've just popped out to do W6R2.

DH is away this week so it's unlikely I'll get out again, but if I do I need to be magically ready for week 8 by Tuesday!

Not entirely sure how I'll manage this. I don't think I can fit it into my 40 minute lunch breaks with time to change either side. Anyone with a magic wand, please let me know!

FATEdestiny · 10/11/2018 16:16

During the school holidays I have been known to utilise the IKEA free creche facility to enable me to get an hours run in.

It's not at all really what the creche is there for but it helps that I live 5 minutes from an IKEA and that my best mate works in the creche. It's a useful "magic wand" when I'm desperate to find time without the children to do my run.

DomesticAnarchist · 10/11/2018 17:44

Sadly that's not an option here! And none of the local gyms have crèche facilities.

If I can find a second hand running buggy I can run with the smallest one on my day off.

WhenCanISleepAgain · 10/11/2018 19:33

I ran W5R3 today... 20 minutes! Feeling very pleased with myself! Sarah Milligan on the NHS app said she knew I could do it - and she was right! Smile

ThereGoesTheAlarm · 10/11/2018 21:17

Well done when 👏🏻 I did W6R3 last night and cannot believe it. I won’t lie, it was a long 25 mins but a few weeks ago I couldn’t run for 25 seconds.

whynot93 · 11/11/2018 10:15

Been out again this morning and repeated W1R3. Looking forward to pushing myself further in W2 💪

WhenCanISleepAgain · 11/11/2018 12:08

Well done theregoes and whynot ... everyone on the C25K journey now will be done / almost be done by the New Year and New Year resolutions! Imagine what we can do next year!

DomesticAnarchist · 11/11/2018 18:33

Managed to get out and do W6R3 tonight and actually managed to "run" (excruciatingly slowly!) for a whole 25 mins.

I've booked a babysitter to run with the local club (W8R1 - I'm going to have to skip a week!) and have a plan where I might be able to run between end of work and after school pickup another evening. And then I should be able to fit at least two runs in at he weekend so that week 9 might be a bit more convincing!

And then I guess I need a new plan?!

ThereGoesTheAlarm · 12/11/2018 01:43

W7R1 this morning. First time I’ve ever run in daylight. Not sure i am a morning runner if I’m honest. For the first 15 minutes I struggled so much I nearly sacked it and went home!

whynot93 · 12/11/2018 09:29

Morning! Scooted the school run then did W2R1 back via the prom.. what a way to start the day.

CanIKondo · 12/11/2018 10:22

Good morning. Just on here for a bit of motivation as heading out to do my first post C25K run. Getting out the door and the first 10 minutes aren't getting any easier! Well done everyone who is sticking to it.

BigFatBloomers · 12/11/2018 11:48

Just back from w6r1. Yes, it’s true what everyone says - surpringly hard. I was so pleased with myself having done the 20 mins last week.
Just signed up for a Santa Dash after I’ve finished. I’m going to get sponsored as it’s so unlike me, I think I may raise a reasonable amount of money from my friends’ and family's disbelieve Grin

PhannyMcNee · 12/11/2018 19:38

Evening all Smile

I’ve finally got off my arse, ditched my excuses and done W6R1. Not as bad as I thought, perhaps the 3 week Shock break helped. Found after the 8 minute run that I didn’t really want to walk but I did.

Going to see how the week progresses but I’m hoping to be able to stick to my Mon, Weds & Fri schedule. Life is in the habit of getting in the way at the moment unfortunately!

DomesticAnarchist · 14/11/2018 08:01

Well done @CanIKondo, how was it? I'm starting to think about what I'll do after the C25K, and though I think I'll keep going out with the local club, I think I need another app to give me structure between club runs.

Has anyone heard of that kind of app? Not really a 5-10k, but something that'll help the 5k get easier and maybe even faster?!

Well done @BigFatBloomers and @PhannyMcNee, I know what you mean by life getting in the way though!

Petitprince · 14/11/2018 08:08

I'm hoping to start this week.

CanIKondo · 14/11/2018 21:39

Hi @DomesticAnarchist. I survived! I did the C25K+ stepping stones which gets you running for 30 mins but faster. Basically you run in time to the music and it speeds up as you go through. I found it fast at the beginning but then settled into it ok, except for the bits where I had to go up hill as normally I think I would have slowed down, but felt I needed to keep my pace up. It is definitely a fair bit faster than I was running, and felt like I'd had a good work out by the end, and sore legs after. Hoping to go out again tomorrow - work permitting.
I hope it's ok to keep posting on here for a while. I don't feel confident enough or enough of a runner to move over to a general running thread and I definitely need the encouragement of reading about how everyone is doing.

PhannyMcNee · 14/11/2018 21:53

I think you should stay CanIKondo, if I ever finish I’ll probably hang around! Missed today’s run - having to work my normal day off then first aid training tonight. I’ve just got in and am really not fancying it :-(

Tomorrow I’m on a night hike with scouts so won’t be running tomorrow evening either.

DomesticAnarchist · 14/11/2018 22:31

Thanks @CanIKondo, and well done! Where can I find the C25K+ stepping stones?

It's deffo too late to run tonight @PhannyMcNee. Enjoy your hike tomorrow. Friday night run?

CanIKondo · 14/11/2018 22:40

I got the podcast NHS Couch to 5K+ @DomesticAnarchist. I don't know if it's on the app as well.
Far too late to head out tonight @PhannyMcNee. Better to rest and go out another day than struggle out tonight and put yourself off.

sleepymouse · 16/11/2018 02:42

W9R2 finished this morning, I've started doing a slow jog through the 5 min warm up then running for a distance of 5km, so not really sticking with the program but feeling good about my running.

Well done to all those who have started and continue through the program, I'll be working on keeping motivation up and continuing to get up and run regularly

DomesticAnarchist · 16/11/2018 16:27

Well done @sleepymouse!

I need to not bail out of doing W8R2 later after work#2! It's a bit mizzly out, and warm, so should be lovely!

whynot93 · 16/11/2018 17:27

W3R3 done this morning in serious mist/fog down by the sea.. I actually quite like running in the run.

whynot93 · 16/11/2018 17:27

*rain!!

PhannyMcNee · 16/11/2018 19:18

Well done Sleepymouse Grin

I’ve just done W6R2, better late than never Smile. It felt ok, slow but comfortable. Hoorah!
