Shiny new thread!

Hope you're feeling ok now Tri.

I'm using up holiday today & went to the pool again. 350m (ok with brief breaks each time I reached a wall!) and for the first time since school, daring the deep end. Thanks for the video tip.

Scenic 10k planned for tomorrow.

Well done Tri 🏃🏽‍♀️💪🏼! That's a great achievement. I ran 9 miles yesterday, and I'll hopefully run 10 next weekend

And well done Empress, 3x 6k or longer a week is impressive. I think I need to think about what kind of runs I should be doing over a week 🤔.

TriGirl007 · 05/12/2017 19:11

That’s fab onemorestep your SO close to the 10m. Hope your body does ok. My hip and back are bit tight and sore.

Well done empress on your 3xruns a week that’s really good - who would have thought a year later we’d still be “runners”Grin

I’m trying to get 3xruns of varied length in and my strava average has been 25k a week so I’ve been slowly increasing the weekly total to build stamina.

OneMoStep · 07/12/2017 22:22

Thanks Tri, I feel okay so far 🙂. I think I need to just keep increasing my weekly total slowly.

TriGirl007 · 10/12/2017 08:57

I wanted to run this morning but it’s just too windy very strong gusts.. no snow though unlike my SIL whose had her Santa run cancelled. Think I’ll have to try tom running after School drop off as too many other things on today to squeeze a run in later. Hope you are all keeping warm n dry in this cold bit brrrr

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 10/12/2017 16:41

I think it's fantastic that we've all kept it up Tri!

Having said that, it's been cold, snowy & wet down here so I'm going to skip tomorrow's run. Cold, fine. Slippery pavements, NOT fine!

OP posts:
TriGirl007 · 11/12/2017 19:28

No snow ere just bitterly cold so I did drag my bum out for a run and ended having a gd 10k Smile hope you get to run again when it warms up in the week.

SkiGirl007 · 21/12/2017 08:11

Cross training with lots of skiing this week Smile very cold though so also a fair few hot chocolates & mullied wines Grin my running fitness has been brill for my ski legs but I’m feeling the fatigue now!
Hope the running is still going well for all in the xmas run up.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 21/12/2017 08:16

I've had a couple, but the combination of slippery pavements & wet mornings has meant it hasn't been more than that!

Hope you're enjoying the skiing.

Hello Empress Yes I've been out 3 times a week since last time I posted. Managed to get up to 5k the other night which was great. So icy here so have been using Wintertrax over my trainers.

I've just signed up for Run Every Day in January. You don't need to actually run every day, just do something.

Well done everyone keeping it going!

SkiGirl007 · 24/12/2017 09:22

Merry Chrimbo runners.

I’ve just checked my strava stats and I’m amazed I’ve done 750km this year Smile so feeling WoW a year of running post C25k - 2018s target has got to 1000km Grin

AnnettePrice · 24/12/2017 09:42

Hi Empress it's been a long time. I got up to 10K then work , injury and life got in the way again. Final straw has been over 2 weeks of lung infection with flu and working full time.
Boxing Day is going to be 1st run to gauge where I'm at, but to give myself a kick, I've just entered myself in a 10K in July. Best thing is it is fairly flat yet off-road which I prefer.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 24/12/2017 10:48

Annette! Hello!!!!!

Sounds rough, poor you BrewCakeFlowersWine but entering a 10k worked for me.

I stayed well away from anywhere that might involve crowds yesterday & went for a 6k run through the local nature reserve.

750k Ski? Wow... and Run Every Day sounds interesting Shortaris, have you got a link? I might need to look at Wintertrax too, I think.

Hi all, I'm still running here, but most people I know on Strava seem to have gone into hibernation 😄. I haven't been pushing anything in particular, so I really need to get on with intervals and long runs etc. again. I've done some running with DS though, which was ace ☺️💛.

SkiGirl007 · 26/12/2017 21:12

I got 5k in before Xmas dinner yesterday Smile I’m at MIL in the depths of Wales so I dodged the rain and did some muddy up / down lanes just to get some fresh air. Looking forward to getting home soon and back into running routine again. Been checking out virtual medals for my 1000k challenge Grin anyone else signing up to stuff in 2018? I’ve got my first HM in mid Feb which I’m tad nervous about!!

shortaris1 · 30/12/2017 11:03

That's exciting Ski I'm thinking about a half but need to look at logistics. 750k is amazing!
www.runeverydayjanuary.com Here's the link to RED Empress
I've just been doing short runs Onemo due to the weather but better than nothing!

How did your boxing day run go Annette

OneMoStep · 30/12/2017 16:09

I wonder whether I'd like to do a half-marathon this year too 🤔. I think I might apply to the GNR ballot (which I think opens soon?), then let fate decide 😣.

I'd also like to do some more trail running this year too - I haven't done a lot so far, but I seem to enjoy it.

I've loved being off work and being able to run easily / often. I don't want to go back, it gets in the way of running!

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 30/12/2017 19:38

Thanks Shortaris!

Good luck Ski, that's really impressive. I'd like to do a half marathon but I need to get back into distances first.

HEy guys, can I join in? :)

I’m a runner with a lupus so I am often out of action which means I have to effectively start again... 🙄 I have just signed up to the Warrington 5 mile series. 1st one is end of Jan! Eeek!

I did parkrun yesterday and bailed at 3k which is a pain, but doing it again tomorrow so hopefully will get to the end :) even if I have to walk it; I’m going to finish!!

Anyone else do parkrun?

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 01/01/2018 10:46

Welcome to the thread, Fizzy!

I used to do Parkrun but it's been a while.

Fizzyknickers · 01/01/2018 14:56

Hi empress, i planned to do the NYD double today but my knee was so sore after 4km of the first, I walked the second instead :( Still better than not going at all I guess :)

SkiGirl007 · 01/01/2018 21:27

Happy NY runners hope we all stay injury free & welcome fizzy.

I had a good start with long 11m run this morning Smile I was feeling strong until 1.5hrs then need more fuelling than I had, so the last half hr was mind over matter and sloggy legs, but I recovered quickly at home after 3eggs & pint of squash Grin

mrssunshinexxx · 01/01/2018 21:31

Hi everyone x

shortaris1 · 07/01/2018 18:58

That's great Ski I did a wee mile yesterday just to keep my legs going over.

OneMoStep · 07/01/2018 21:11

Hi everyone! I'm enjoying running so much at the moment - I'm pushing myself out of my comfort zone, and trying new things that I usually wouldn't do. I do still need to work on increasing my distance though 🙈.

mrssunshinexxx · 08/01/2018 20:14

What's everyone's average distance they do mostly?
