For one pointless -excuse- reason after another I get so far and then stop .

This time I have signed myself up for a 5k in May so I have to do it now . I do enjoy it once I get into it and I really want to finish something for once .

If anyone has any hints tips or kicks up the arse spare I would appreciate it .

I don't own scales now so not sure what I weigh... probably for the best but I know I need to sort the eating!

Howlongtillbedtime · 27/04/2017 16:43

I wish I didn't own any scales . I go from obsessing every day on then and wanting to throw them away . I feel loads better than I did back at the start of this thread but I don't think I have lost any weight .

I have however just been out and run 2miles ! It felt really good . There were parts of it that I actually felt like I was running and not just plodding . Not big parts but parts all the same .

Good luck all !

Excellent! I find that if I can sync my breathing with my footfalls I do find it a bit easier.

Scales broke and just didn't replace them. I was getting on them daily too and it never made me any slimmer!

I survived swimming and have vowed never to do that again though we are having hot dinner there next week between swimming lesson and a info session at DD's school.

I'm off to bed exhausted now! Hoping that I will have energy to go out tomorrow night but the dreaded AF has properly reared it's head now after messing about all week so feeling very sorry for myself indeed. At least it's Friday tomorrow.

Lolimax · 27/04/2017 21:00

Can I show off? After weight loss and increasing exercise and finally getting to 5k on my own I've never run in company before. I wasn't sure if I could run and talk as usually I'm so busy concentrating on breathing.
Well DD (20) came out with me tonight and it was lush. We talked all the way around. Yes it took 42 minutes but we both loved and have set a date for next Thursday.

usernamealreadytaken · 27/04/2017 21:11

loli that's brilliant, well done! DS1 has joked a few times he's going to come with me one evening, but I would be embarrassed as he's 15 and very sporty/fit.

I finally managed W4R1 last night, and felt fantastic afterwards; I had been really dreading it and had repeated W3 but I planned a route that was slightly downhill and mostly flat, and I did it - was so proud I rang DH as soon as I got my breath back and could speak 😀

usernamealreadytaken · 27/04/2017 21:13

TheWorld how do you work out syncing breaths? I have slowed down as PPs advised and I think that's how I finally managed to tackle W4, but I do struggle with breathlessness.

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 28/04/2017 06:29

Wonderful to hear stories of it going well! Please share/show off Wink

I am doing in for four footfalls and out for 4 too. Then I lose the rhythm and act like someone drowning and then get back into it. Initially I just tried to do in for 2 and out for 2... just trying to get a pattern going really.

Will update tonight if I make it out.

Pinkvici22 · 28/04/2017 19:40

Oh my god, I've just completed Week 6! 15 whole minutes of running!

I'm going away for a short break over the bank holiday weekend and I'm even considering taking my trainers. I can't believe I'm nearly there!

Boatsnack · 28/04/2017 20:02

I tried to get out this morning but I've really hurt my hip. Dr Google says it's a hip flexor strain and omg the pain when I move it the wrong way is unbelievable. Hopefully it'll ease off over the weekend 😣

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 28/04/2017 20:44

Oh no boat hope you feel better soon.

Well done Pink

I went out but didn't feel great felt like my womb was going to fall out did 32 minutes and 15 of that jogging. Will try again Sunday or Monday morning.

Boatsnack · 28/04/2017 22:36

Wow world that's amazing when you weren't feeling great. I managed 4.5 mins then just went home. It is the worst when you don't feel right.

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 29/04/2017 17:27

Really not feeling well - took myself to bed this afternoon with painkillers. Might leave tomorrow's jog till Monday to let myself perk up a bit.

How are things feeling today Boat?

Anyone else make it out today?

Howlongtillbedtime · 29/04/2017 17:31

Sorry you are not feeling well world Hope you feel better very soon .

We were going to do parkrun again but youngest slept in so didn't make it .

But I made myself get out and do a run all by myself outside again . I have realised that no-one else gives a shite ahour the chubby middle aged woman dragging herself round looking red faces and sweaty .

That's a good place to get to How indeed no one gives a damn - I know full well that I think 'good on her' when I see someone else...

Just girly related, sure I'll live. GP soon and will raise it again.

Boatsnack · 29/04/2017 20:22

Still in pain took dd swimming and it eased in the water so I did a few lengths but it hurts again now. I'm nightshift tonight and tomorrow night so doubt I'll run before Tuesday now.

usernamealreadytaken · 29/04/2017 22:04

Hope you're feeling better theworld. I made it out yesterday evening for W4R2 and really enjoyed it. DS1 came with me; he could have run it twice backwards, but he plodded a long with me and it was lovely to have the company - all of my other runs have been solo. W5 isn't looking so scary now, I think I've finally got a little confidence - I can do this 😀

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 30/04/2017 07:08

Oh yuck Boat hope that it eases. Are there any stretches that you can do to help?

I'm up and feeling better today but going to leave the run till tomorrow.

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 30/04/2017 07:09

User that's lovely. I took DD on her bike but she just whinged about being cold/tired so I haven't again Grin

ThePerfect1IThinkNot · 30/04/2017 17:20

Week 6 run 3 for me tomorrow will be my first 20 minute run. Just a bit scared...

Howlongtillbedtime · 30/04/2017 18:02

Good luck perfect You will do it !

I found the 20 mins run really scary but I felt amazing once I had done it . You will be so proud once you have finished .

My only advice (not that you were asking Wink is take it slow )

Good luck and let us know how you get on .

ThePerfect1IThinkNot · 30/04/2017 18:38

Thank you Howlong, will let you know how I get on. I did feel ready to carry on when I did the two lots of 10 minutes running separated by 3 minutes walking, but so much depends on the route and how many uphill bits there are.

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 01/05/2017 07:43

I'm going to go back to basics tonight and just aim to do the 25 minutes jog rather than worry about distance covered. I'm guessing that it doesn't matter how long it takes me to get to 5K, I'm only doing it for myself...

Hope everyone is doing well.

How long till your 5K How? Wink

Howlongtillbedtime · 01/05/2017 09:56

Sounds like a good plan world I found the whole thing so much easier (still nowhere near easy sadly) once my dh got me to slow down . I honestly think I could have walked faster .

My scary 5k is next Sunday ! Shock

I can't believe that i am now thinking i might manage it non stop . I am so pleased I started this thread you have all kept me going . Especially you because you have stuck with it since the start , thank you Flowers

Good luck out there today .

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 01/05/2017 11:16

Ah that's quite quick! I'm sure you'll do well. I'm thinking I won't go out now. On day 11 of AF and have just done the washing/cleaning/tidying as you do and feel beat. DS bouncing off the walls so we'll need to go out this PM to burn off steam.

Meeting my friend tomorrow and we always walk a few miles with the double buggies so that'll have to do for now.

Howlongtillbedtime · 01/05/2017 11:26

It sounds like you need rest more than anything . Good luck with the bouncy boy .
