For one pointless -excuse- reason after another I get so far and then stop .

This time I have signed myself up for a 5k in May so I have to do it now . I do enjoy it once I get into it and I really want to finish something for once .

If anyone has any hints tips or kicks up the arse spare I would appreciate it .

Well done all.

I went out on Friday night and covered 4.5K but didn't feel it so only 13 minutes of jogging.

Then yesterday I made a complete tit of myself and fell over in the garden so everything hurts and I've got another bloody period so going to skip today. This week looking hectic so may not get out until Thursday morning after the school run.

Howlongtillbedtime · 23/04/2017 11:33

Ouch ! I hope your period isn't too grim too . I bloody hate being a woman sometimes .

I am off to the gym in a minute . I definitely feel like something has clicked this last 2 weeks . Just got to hope it lasts .

Good luck all .

It's not great. Really short/irregular cycles that GP isn't taking too seriously. Back to her in May so will see what she says then...but yes, I want to come back as a man! (I get very grumpy and very clumsy - obviously!)

Hope you enjoy it, will update if I get out.

Howlongtillbedtime · 23/04/2017 16:34

That is rubbish , they are annoying enough without taking you by surprise . Sounds like a hot bath and a glass of something would be a good idea to me .

I did go to the gym and it was a bit weird . I found the treadmill harder than being outside and more boring but glad I went .
I also only ran 2.4 miles and was laughing at myself for the only bit as even two or three weeks ago that would have made me so Happy !

Been watching the marathon and the achievement is amazing .

Hi, can I join in for some support? I'm on W3R5 - I just cannot get past week 3; the three minute runs are doing me in. I have never been able to run, but always think runners look brilliant and effortless. I'm now fast approaching 45 and decided it's now or never! Did anyone else struggle to move on to the bigger runs - I've looked at W4 and am in no way ready to tackle it, but am feeling really good for achieving W3 although the second 3 minute run is always a struggle. Thanks for listening 😀

Howlongtillbedtime · 24/04/2017 20:43

Thanks secret

user I think all of us have repeated days /week's until we felt ready to move on . It definitely doesn't come naturally to me but I am now (mostly) enjoying it .

If you don't feel ready then repeat wk3 , you are doing it and that's the main thing .

Hi User I'm struggling with the jump from 20 to 25 minutes and I'm sure will also find 25 to 30 hard.

Just keep going till till you feel more comfortable but I also find that sometimes you just need to push and do it and sometimes it works Wink

usernamealreadytaken · 24/04/2017 22:02

Just worried I won't get past W3 and will be running three minutes forever 😂😂😂

usernamealreadytaken · 24/04/2017 22:03

20 minutes is amazing TheWorld; I can't wait to be able to say that 😀

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 25/04/2017 12:45

Well indeed, but I was there and made it to 20 and even 25 a few times. How about trying 4 minutes and seeing how you go?

drwitch · 25/04/2017 12:53

It could be that you are running too fast. I find that intervals lead you to a natural running speed that is too fast for doing any distance. Try and slow down going with a friend and talk is the best way

Howlongtillbedtime · 25/04/2017 16:44

Hello all .

I agree with drwitch about the speed thing . When I went out with my dh he told me to slow right down and it really helped me . I had to get out of the mindset that every time I run I have to be quicker than before .

A mile is still covered however long it takes me.

I have been out and done 2 miles after work , I am very very tentatively looking at a 5 to 10k programme . How scary is that ?
It still bloody hurts though , especially the first 10 mins or so .

Good luck all who are out and about today.

I've just done W6 R1...2x 10 min runs on the programme I'm doing. Did it on the treadmill and actually found it harder than outdoors (even though I've only done the last 3 runs outside??). I'm not sure if it's the boredom of the treadmill even with motivating music.

I agree about running more slowly....this has massively helped me with my breathing.

Howlongtillbedtime · 25/04/2017 17:31

pink I did all of mine on the treadmill until the last couple of weeks and then went back to the treadmill at the weekend and found it really tough .

The same pace seemed a lot quicker and trickier on the treadmill which is weird .

I am pleased it's that way round because I have been so worried about running outside and having to start again from the beginning .

Outside is so much nicer ( still bloody hurts though )

Well done on starting wk 6 . Not long till your parkrun now Grin

How that is very reassuring that you have found going back to the treadmill tough - I agree it's better that way. I think I ate too big a lunch today and struggled more because of that. I've been eating much better but definitely need to plan food timings around runs!

ThePerfect1IThinkNot · 25/04/2017 18:00

Hello, can I join in...

I'm starting week 6 tomorrow with the local running club. I do the two in between runs by myself. I can see benefits to both, but the running club tends to do routes involving more uphill slopes, but when I run by myself I can choose routes that only have uphill slopes at the beginning of each run.

Can't believe that I have managed to run two lots of 8 minutes and it didn't feel too bad.

Boatsnack · 25/04/2017 18:51

Hi can i join you all. I started the c25k last summer and got to w5r2 then it all fell by the wayside. I gave up smoking in February and joined slimming world last week so this time I'm determined to be slim, fit and healthy before my 35th birthday.

I mapped a mostly downhill route and completed w5r1 this morning and it was surprisingly easy. I mean I nearly puked at the end of the 3rd 5 minutes but I didn't stop.

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 25/04/2017 21:15

Hello all and the newcomers too

I ended up going out tonight and amended my route again 4.8k in 45 minutes with 25 minutes in one go, so a proper week 7 run Grin

Howlongtillbedtime · 25/04/2017 21:33

Yay ! Well done .

How do you feel ? It's fab when it all goes how it should doesn't it ?

OP posts:
TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 26/04/2017 13:39

Felt good even if I ran past 2 houses where I know people and a bit of the main road Blush

Feel like I could go out again tonight, but lets face it, the weather is horrid and I'd rather sit and eat chocolate... Going swimming with the smalls after school tomorrow so probably Friday now.

Howlongtillbedtime · 26/04/2017 20:25

Enjoy the chocolate you deserve it !

Not sure I should have eaten a whole pack of share size rolo/smartie/toffee crisp/aero balls things! after doing the same last night

I really need to sort my diet out!!! Trying not to panic about the fact that I'm going to be very pale (and bruised) and wobbly in a swimming costume tomorrow!

Pinkvici22 · 26/04/2017 21:34

Woohoo, just done W6 R2...and I actually enjoyed it! I also need to sort out my diet. I ate a choc chip muffin and a spoon of nut butter before I went for my run!

Howlongtillbedtime · 26/04/2017 22:16

Sounds yummy cake I have got over 2 stone to lose and bloody hell it's painful (and boring)
Swimming with children is such a pain . And i am always starving afterwards even though I have just bobbed about stopping people drowning . Good luck !

Well done pink Enjoy you say ? Shock

Woohoo indeed !
