For one pointless -excuse- reason after another I get so far and then stop .

This time I have signed myself up for a 5k in May so I have to do it now . I do enjoy it once I get into it and I really want to finish something for once .

If anyone has any hints tips or kicks up the arse spare I would appreciate it .

I'm on W5R2, will probably go out tomorrow.trying to do it with the kids, but they don't have much time in the week (neither do I, but work from home on Mondays and day off Fridays, so can fit more around my week than they can). I'm a couple of days ahead of them and not sure whether to just drag hem along to where I am or repeat (I dont want to repeat!). Eldest (12) is getting along with it easily, I think she has the frame to be a fantastic runner like her dad. Youngest struggling through much of it, he's clearly got my genes Wink

JassyRadlett · 21/09/2017 17:22

Can I join in? I'm only on Week 3 Run 2 but going ok so far. I haven't run since before DS1 (he's 6 now!) and am at the point where I'm going ok but can't quite believe I'll get up to 5K by November...

LadyWithLapdog · 23/09/2017 13:38

Welcome new people :)

I'm doing 25min runs now. I am very, very slow. 2.6-2.8 km in this time. I'll never be able to run 5 km at this rate. How do you improve on speed? My HR doesn't go above 130 bpm so I'm obviously not killing myself running.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 23/09/2017 21:07

Week 3 run 1 done. Wasn't too bad. Might stick with this one for a couple of weeks, then go to Week 5.

Not sure I'm going to bother with week 4.

littledolly2 · 24/09/2017 09:29

Hi all
I'm just jumping in too. I completed c25k about 5 years ago but life took over just after I'd successfully got to running 5k in about 36 minutes. Since then I've had loads of false starts with it but am so determined to do it this time.
I'm getting ready to go out and do w4 r3 - I had to repeat week 4 after missing quite a few runs due to sickness and work commitments. I spent ages last night reading through this whole thread so am hugely motivated to keep going now!

LosingItThisYear · 24/09/2017 09:36

Hello all. So I'm not managing to get out as often at the moment, but have finished week 6. Found it hard though, does it ever start to feel easier?!

Howlongtillbedtime · 24/09/2017 16:25

Hello all , I have managed to get out today. I am not really following the plan but have managed to do 2.5 miles again , it took me 33 mins this time which isn't great but better than last time so I am pleased .

My dh ran a half marathon this morning which I can just never imagine being able to do .

Completing a 5k again will do for now Grin

Hi all, was out on Friday and again tonight. Did 3.5k n 35 but only 13 of that was jogging. Really tired and the day started at 6 so pleased with what I managed at 8pm and then came in and showered and brushed my teeth so I can't eat anything.

Glad to see lots of people posting! Hmmm howlong there was a half marathon in our town today - wonder if we're local to each other probably not

Howlongtillbedtime · 24/09/2017 21:40

It is a village with a colour cake

I am going to give myself until the end off Oct to get back to parkrun . I am also thinking of looking at a 10k for next year (I have had wine so this plan could change)

Well done on the getting out there!

Not the same place then...

I just need to get out regularly. Pesky real life gets in the way though doesn't it?

You're brave if you do enter a 10K but you didn't think you'd be able to do the 5 and you did!!!

Howlongtillbedtime · 26/09/2017 06:42

Morning!

I have looked at a couch to10k plan and i am going to give it a go i think (scared) but i am not signing up to anything until I have faith I can do it.

And I will be happy just to get back to park run by the end of Oct.

Good luck to everyone out today.

I did go yesterday so a day off today.

Well done! Me and the kids just back from W5R2, they’re a bit worried about the next one (20 mins), but I reckon they’ll put me to shame! They seem to be quite enjoying it on the whole, but it’s hard to motivate them to get out after a long day at school (leave house at 7:30, home at 6:00).

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 27/09/2017 21:05

Argh, just lost a big post. Well done Carrie and children!

I did 20 in the rain, hurt but feel like a super hero Wink

how did you get out? How are you doing Rafals?

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 27/09/2017 21:07

Not found it easy yet LosingIt sorry! Well done on doing week 6 Halo

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 27/09/2017 21:30

I'm sure it probably will get easier.

Haven't managed to get out again and won't be able to until Monday. Did plan to go out tonight but I'm under strict instructions to keep warm and dry and outside is neither of those things.

I may have forgotten to ask the GP about running too.

gardeningsarah · 27/09/2017 22:02

I've just completed week 3, hooray! Start W4R1 this weekend. I'm beginning to find it frustrating if I can't go out for my walk/run/jog/shuffleGrin

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 28/09/2017 06:47

Well done Sarah

I am a bit achey this morning! Still glad I did it. Looking forward to tomorrow in a weird way Wink

LosingItThisYear · 30/09/2017 12:51

How is everyone getting on?

I've done two 25 mins runs, I'm finding them hard though! There's a lot of clockwatching and my last run was slower than usual, so I can't imagine getting to 5km.

I do feel fitter (even though muscles are objecting to running) so that's encouraging!

Howlongtillbedtime · 01/10/2017 17:08

25 mins is brilliant losing I really wouldn't worry about the distance run it is much more important to get the time under your belt.

I have been away for a few days and within 30mins of getting home I went to the gym. I am very pleased with myself. I have got to the stage where I really miss it if I don't get out which is great.

Well done everyone and good luck to all getting out today.

This thread is going a bit quiet, how is everyone?

Finished my 25 min runs, dreading 28 mins...

LadyWithLapdog · 03/10/2017 19:39

I've started 28 minutes runs. I don't cover much distance and I need longer gaps between run days. I've been sleeping v well, though.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 03/10/2017 20:27

Just done Week 3 run 2 and managed it. Might do run 3 on Thursday and try either Week 4 or 5 at the weekend.

LosingItThisYear · 03/10/2017 21:23

Lady ooh, interesting that you're spacing your runs out more. I started struggling a couple of weeks ago, and partly put it down to running less often, so I'm trying to run more. Still struggling though!

MrsReacher85 · 04/10/2017 14:47

Hi! I've just finished week 4, and hopefully starting week 5 tonight. So far I've managed to actually run all the intervals but it's getting much harder! Has anyone need to repeat weeks? I was thinking to repeat any runs where I can't run for the whole interval, until I can basically. Does that sound like a good plan?

Howlongtillbedtime · 04/10/2017 20:12

Mrs reacher I think most of us have repeated weeks at some point .

And some of us have repeated the whole sodding plan Grin

How are you both getting on with the 28mins lady and losing ?

Well done Rafals , I have been out and managed a walk run from the couch to 10k . Not entirely sure I will ever manage 10k but you never know!

I hope tonight went well for you Mrs reacher
