For one pointless -excuse- reason after another I get so far and then stop .

This time I have signed myself up for a 5k in May so I have to do it now . I do enjoy it once I get into it and I really want to finish something for once .

If anyone has any hints tips or kicks up the arse spare I would appreciate it .

Some of us have repeatedly more weeks than others. Grin

MrsReacher85 · 04/10/2017 21:48

Thanks, tonight was hard work. My last running interval was uphill and I had to pause for 30 secs to finish the hill! I'm always a lovely beetroot colour by the end, and that hill doesn't help!

LadyWithLapdog · 04/10/2017 21:59

I haven't been able to run these past three days due to work and kids but I hope to go tomorrow and then every day of the weekend. Today I was totally pain free, all ready to start again tomorrow.

I'm amazed I can do 28 minutes and it weirdly doesn't feel substantially different to when I was panting my way through 3 or 5 minutes at the beginning. In that I can do it, I'm neither totally exhausted nor 'high', I'm still very very slow and my breathing sequence is still random. I'm enjoying the challenge and I never thought I'd say that about running.

LadyWithLapdog · 04/10/2017 22:04

Good luck to those aiming for 10K 🏃🏽💦

LosingItThisYear · 04/10/2017 22:09

Howlong I haven't done a 28 min run yet, but it's next on the plan. Maybe tomorrow...

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 05/10/2017 20:53

Just been and attempted Week 4 run 1. Nearly made it. Had to add an extra 1min walk after 3mins of the final 5min run. But it wasn't bad apart from that.

Another week and I might eventually manage it. Usually only happens if my asthma is really well controlled.

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 05/10/2017 21:40

Hi, just checking in. Was out Friday and Sunday but no time since. Tomorrow then Grin

Well done to you all!

LadyWithLapdog · 05/10/2017 22:14

28 minutes today, 3km. I can't see 5K in 30 minutes anytime soon.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 07/10/2017 20:42

Almost made Week 5 run 1. Was about 2mins short on last run. But that might have been because it was the target I'd set myself before I left the house.

Well done on the 28mins Lady

LadyWithLapdog · 07/10/2017 23:04

Well done, Rafal. I'm taking slightly longer breaks between runs as me knees are hurting. I'm starting on 30 minutes next but most definitely not 5K.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 08/10/2017 12:07

My legs this morning!

Maybe week 5 wasn't such a good idea after all.

LadyWithLapdog · 08/10/2017 14:03

You'll be fine in a day or so and glad you've done it :)

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 08/10/2017 21:26

Hi, just back from the first run since last Sunday night. Been a bit of a week, but did manage a short HiiT workout, a half hour pilates and an hour of messing about in the pool yesterday (the deep end is hard work!)

I ran my usual route but anti clockwise and managed 20 minutes...not sure how but it feels great!

Well done Rafals and Lady My FIL gave up running in his late 60s as his knees couldn't take it any more. Now he 'just' cycles and does his karate twice a week (black belt age 71)

woman11017 · 09/10/2017 21:21

Flowers to posters on these threads. You've inspired me. I've just started the last week of the Couch to 5k app, and was sad when Michael Jordan, my trainer of choice, said goodbye! It's been great. I'm still chuffed that other runners, who pass me at speed, say hi. I do not look like a runner. Grin Thanks all.
Nice article here:

LadyWithLapdog · 09/10/2017 22:02

Congratulations!

woman11017 · 10/10/2017 08:23

Smile thank you lady

LosingItThisYear · 10/10/2017 13:53

Well done! While I feel like I've come a long way already, I'm looking at these fast runners with a new admiration.

I've not made it out for a week - illness has struck this house... I might ease myself back in with an interval run and then repeat a 25 min run before moving on.

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 10/10/2017 14:06

Hello, can't get out tonight (somehow itching to) so will go tomorrow night if all is well. Met a friend this morning and walked a couple of miles.

Well done to you all! Good luck Losing

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 10/10/2017 20:09

Week 5 run 1 now completed. Must have run faster than Saturday too.

Fitbit is now recognising it as running not walking as well.

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 11/10/2017 20:48

Well done Rafals

I've just been out and it was blowing a gale and raining. I only did 13 minutes and 12 of walking, but think the pace was a bit faster as the last time I did that same stretch I was a minute slower on the jog part!

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 12/10/2017 19:50

Managed the first 8 mins and 6 of the second 8 mins of Week 5 run 2.

Managed to avoid the gale and rain yesterday since it was a rest day, world.

LosingItThisYear · 13/10/2017 09:47

Finally made it out for a run after over a week off due to sick children.

My next run is supposed to be 28 mins, but I couldn't face that, so did 2x12 mins with a 4 min walk in the middle. I'll try and get back to the week 7 25min runs next.

Chilli81 · 13/10/2017 10:59

Hello all, newbie here.Flowers
Have tried to complete c25k on three previous occasions (even getting to week 6 once) but for several reasons - mainly my weak willBlush- I haven't. I have been inspired by posts in this thread and am determined to complete it this time. Have just completed W1 R1 so it's a start. Grin

LadyWithLapdog · 13/10/2017 11:05

Welcome, Chilli81! You'll be done before Xmas :)

Esssa · 13/10/2017 16:44

Hi Chilli81 I've just done the same today. I've got to the point of running 5k in about 32 minutes in the past them summer and a new relationship happened so I got bad at going running. Just as I decided to give myself a kick and get going again I fell off a horse and bruised my coccyx so weeks later I'm starting at the beginning again! Seemed too daunting to just go out and run so I used the c25k app. It felt good, possibly a little easy as I'm already itching to go again! Better that tho than feeling knackered about it.
