For one pointless -excuse- reason after another I get so far and then stop .

This time I have signed myself up for a 5k in May so I have to do it now . I do enjoy it once I get into it and I really want to finish something for once .

If anyone has any hints tips or kicks up the arse spare I would appreciate it .

Did you manage to get out how

I finally motivated myself to go out once dd is in bed. I really hate running at night but apparently I can still do it which is great news W9R3 on B210K completed. Hopefully I'll sleep tonight for a change.

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 30/07/2017 20:43

Hey, still here and ridiculously unfit! Will see if I can restart again this week. Need the exercise and head space.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 20/08/2017 15:56

How's everyone doing?

Hercules12 · 21/08/2017 15:33

Hi
Just joining this thread for first time. I've just completed week 5 this morning. It's been a hard slog and the 20 mins run was harder than I thought. I think someone at walking speed could have overtaken me in th e last 5 minutes.
I thought I'd be frustrated by going back to alternating walking with running but I'm looking forward to a shorter run for at start of week 6.
I'm finding threads like this very inspirational to read!

ThePerfect1IThinkNot · 21/08/2017 17:01

Hello everyone. Not posted on here for quite a long time...

I started c25k back in March with a local running club. Best thing I have ever done for me. Since then I have completed 8 parkruns, volunteered at parkruns four times, been out for a number of weeks with a knee injury and managed to get back to within a minute of my parkrun PB. I am now committed to doing a 10k which is something I never thought I would be saying.

I'm in my late 50's, overweight and had never run before...

For those of you doubting yourself - YOU CAN DO IT!! Give yourself time if you need it, listen to your body, but don't give up. It is so worth it and you will feel so good about yourself in every little step success along the way.

Hercules12 · 22/08/2017 09:04

Hi ThePerfect1IThinkNot I'm also 3 stone overweight. Good to read your post and see it's possible even eleven carrying extra weight. I'd love to aim for 10k eventually.

Hercules12 · 23/08/2017 13:03

I did wk6 run 1 and it was a relief to stop after the 5 and 8 minutes and not to have to run for 20. Definitely did my confidence some good as I felt better than after than when I did the 20 minutes.
Not looking forward to stopping the run/walks and just doing running at all.

LosingItThisYear · 25/08/2017 09:26

Hello, can I join? I've started c25 again, but this time I should actually have the time to fit in running.
I'm quite active anyway, so jumped in at week 4 and found it fine (will I suffer later for not starting at the beginning?!)

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 25/08/2017 13:21

I've jumped in at week 3 before and it was fine.

Currently back on week 1/2 so may attempt week 3 over the weekend,

Paranormalbouquet · 25/08/2017 15:27

Can I hop in here? I used to run a lot but have been plagued by injuries since having my DD (also gained lots of weight so probably the major problem!). I've been having physio, lost 2 stone (2-3 to go) and have restarted running with C25K- 2 days on a treadmill and one day outside.

Did my 20min jog (v slowly) this lunchtime, and found it harder than expected. Looking forward to getting back to intervals next week briefly. Will try run W6R1 intervals at a slightly higher pace I think.

Hercules12 · 25/08/2017 17:25

I didn't run today as one of my knees is bothering me a bit. Feels a bit strained. It's the knee which has the foot which over pronates. My asics are old but not worn much and were fitted by running shop but 6 years ago. Do you think I need new ones? They look fine and I certainly haven't done a high mileage in them!

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 06/09/2017 22:04

Hi ladies

I need to restart again Blush real life really got in the way big time, but I know it's good for me to do regular exercise. Going to eat myself back in and aim for week 1 on Friday.

Hello to all the newer posters. How are you all getting on?

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 06/09/2017 22:15

Going to eat myself back in

Not sure if this is a typo but 😂

Completely failed at Week 4 twice this week. Although it was my legs rather than my asthma yesterday. Will just keep going until I manage it I think.

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 06/09/2017 22:23

Ha ha eat myself in - Freudian slip or what Grin

ease

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 06/09/2017 22:26

Good to see you Rafals it's the f'ing auto correct on the I-pad and lack of sleep.

Sorry to hear you're struggling. I want to think I can go out there and slay it, but I know better than that so starting at the bottom.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 06/09/2017 22:54

That's what I did. Usually find wk 1 quite easy when I go back to it.

I have been eating my way back into it, which is possibly part of the problem. 3 weeks worth of steroids probably hasn't helped.

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 07/09/2017 11:31

Oh no Steroids are a pain. I've just been on the scales and I've taken my measurements this time round too. I could be doing 5K by mid November if I just stick to it this time! I am playing this from a health and happiness POV rather than weight/diet but I'm hoping I can make a few changes for the better.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 08/09/2017 19:31

I probably should take my measurements. The scales at least are saying the same thing so the steroids haven't had as much effect as I thought or the scales are broken.

How is Week 1 going? Managed to do my back in today, so I may be joining you on it again. 2017 really isn't my year.

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 09/09/2017 18:18

Oh no! I didn't get out yesterday, but do some pilates. Going tonight when it gets dark Grin

Sorry to hear you're struggling so much. 2017 is turning out to be a bit of a bitch here too!

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 09/09/2017 20:03

If I keep moving it's not too bad today. Just sitting down that's the issue. Not chancing the running until I've seen the GP again.

Might think about giving Pilates a go. Need to sort this back problem out before it becomes a big issue I think.

Sorry 2017 has been a bitch for you too.

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 09/09/2017 21:07

I did it! 12 minutes of running (straight) and 15 walking. Chuffed to bits, not been out since end of May Shock

Hope you feel better soon.

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 09/09/2017 21:08

pilates is great

mrwalkensir · 10/09/2017 11:22

Hi - good to find you on here - tried week one number one yesterday. Never been a runner, just a very fast walker. But need to get my cardio better and running is quicker! Found it rather positive despite using treadmill ( 3.3 mph to 4.5). Like others my plan is to try outside when dark...and before it gets too chilly 😊

gardeningsarah · 10/09/2017 17:47

Can I join you all? Having read a couple of threads about c25k on here, I've taken the plunge. I'm on W2r1 which I did today. I just want to get fitter even though I dog walk and do Pilates. Also to stop the weight piling on, as a fast approach my mid 50's. Keep up the good work everyone.

mrwalkensir · 10/09/2017 19:43

hi gardeningsarah - relieved that I won't be the only 50+ on here (there may well be more of course)
