For one pointless -excuse- reason after another I get so far and then stop .

This time I have signed myself up for a 5k in May so I have to do it now . I do enjoy it once I get into it and I really want to finish something for once .

If anyone has any hints tips or kicks up the arse spare I would appreciate it .

I'm heading away next week and am bringing my gear with me too boat

Went out for a quick 20 min run yesterday.

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 30/06/2017 21:08

Hello ladies

It's been a month since I've been out Shock

Life has really got in the way again! Went out for a walk tonight and did 4km in 45mins so that's something! Need to start walking school runs again too.

Fed up of someone being ill, all of us being over tired all the time and me being a fat unfit frump!

Glad to see lots of you doing well. Will be back once I'm a bit more up to speed again

Boatsnack · 01/07/2017 21:41

world you'll get there.

I doubt I'm going to get out much now the schools have stopped but I'm going to try my best to do something.

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 02/07/2017 05:51

Thanks. We've got 2 1/2 weeks yet and we're off on holiday straight away.

whothefuckhas5children · 05/07/2017 12:37

World - you'll get there.

I've brought my gear with me but don't know how much I'll manage. I've had to do physio on mon and will have to go again on Thursday. My ankle is sore and I think its all stemming from my hips.
Went for a short walk yesterday and my ankles hurt Sad

Howlongtillbedtime · 06/07/2017 07:26

Morning all.

I have had far too many days off recently. A mixture of various social stuff and it being too hot for me to get out.

I am promising myself that I will at the very least get to the gym today and cover 5k.

How's everyone getting on ?

IJustLostTheGame · 07/07/2017 10:51

I ran 3k today without stopping!!!!!
Just one more more k and I've done it.
I'm on week 7.
I'm not going to run on holiday though, I get so hot I think I'm going to faint.

QuinoaKeen · 08/07/2017 10:09

I've been lurking on this thread and haven't posted as I didn't want the accountability Grin. I've given up too many times at week 5! Couldn't get past the 8 minute mark.

Anyway, a couple of circumstances changed and I decided 'it's now or never!' First, I turned 40 and decided I really couldn't put it off any longer. Second, I went plantbased/ vegan and had so much extra energy to burn and third, I discovered Rich Roll and his super inspiring podcast.

Anyway, I've been going to the gym and adding an extra minute every run, gasping and bright red in the face until I got to 20 minutes.

And then, amazingly I was just able to keep going and managed the 5k without stopping today! I am ridiculously, ridiculously slow, but I made it in just under 39 minutes.

I have a couple of questions if that's ok?
I've been running on the treadmill. Is it much harder going into the 'real world'?
Will Map My Run track the distance on my iPhone while I'm running? Otherwise, I'm unsure how I will know how far I've gone...

Thanks!

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 08/07/2017 10:58

Well done Quinoa and Ijust (although I have just lost the game now, so thanks)

Have hit a bit of a mental wall over the last couple of weeks as depression and anxiety has flared up a bit. Was going to force myself out yesterday but now have a cold so asthma is playing up too. Don't think I'll chance it.

Howlongtillbedtime · 08/07/2017 11:01

That's brilliant Quinoa and 39 mins is not a rubbish time either!

I did most of my weeks on the treadmill and was really worried about getting outside but actually I have found it easier than I thought. I have gone back to the gym this week because I struggle running in the heat and I am finding the treadmill more difficult .
I have an android but found mapmyrun really accurate so I am sure you will be fine.

Might be time to get yourself to a parkrun . It is worth looking up your local one and checking past results as normally people finish in anything from 15mins (which is bonkers) to over an hour . I know I felt better knowing that it was so varied.

Well done lost and yes I agree with you about the heat. I couldn't do it either.

You know the c25k app-how do you get your own music on it?

Howlongtillbedtime · 08/07/2017 11:54

Sorry rafals we cross posted so I didn't see you there.

Does the running help your mood at all ? I know its a bit of a cliche but I definitely find my mood is improved after exercise but I know its easier said than done.

OP posts:
HarveySchlumpfenburger · 08/07/2017 12:06

Not particularly. And occasionally it makes it worse. Especially if it's a 'bad' run.

It can improve the anxiety a bit, but I think that's more of a distraction technique because I'm thinking about running. I can get the same result from distracting myself in other ways.

I do get that mood lift if I'm not depressed though, so I know what you mean. I am definitely going 'out' somewhere today though. Just not sure where yet.

Howlongtillbedtime · 08/07/2017 14:55

"Rafals* Have you made it out yet ? Sorry you are having a crap time of it , I will keep my fingers crossed for better days for you.

Grundy's I never did the linking music thing but I am sureone must have round these parts ??

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 08/07/2017 16:39

I have made it out but not for a run. Have had a lovely walk and sat in the park for a bit. It's very hot out there.

I could never figure out the music thing either. I know there used to be a few different podcasts with different music on though.

QuinoaKeen · 08/07/2017 16:52

Thanks howlong. I'm not quite ready for park run just yet... I know people there. Fit people! I'd feel a bit silly. But that's good advice to check out their times.

Sorry to hear you're not feeling good Rafals. I hope you find somewhere nice to go today.

QuinoaKeen · 09/07/2017 06:40

Two words: shin splits Sad.

Taking the day off and hoping I feel better and less achey tomorrow.

Boatsnack · 09/07/2017 12:38

I just use Spotify for music you can run the two apps simultaneously.

I'm hoping to finally get out this afternoon but for some reason I can't sleep. I was nightshift last night and I'm in again tonight.

OneOfTheGrundys · 09/07/2017 19:40

Thank you!

MontyFox · 11/07/2017 07:07

Hi guys. I also just run a separate audio app in the background for something to listen to. I listen to audiobooks or radio programmes instead of music though.

Week 6 run 1 completed last night. I'd been worrying about that 20 minute run at the end of Week 5 but it went surprisingly well!

Temperatures here is looking to be mid twenties for the next few weeks. I've found a shady lane to run along.

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 13/07/2017 06:58

Hello ladies

I'm still around but walking only at the moment.

Well done to everyone who is making progress or keeping going in the heat or even on holidays Shock

Boatsnack · 18/07/2017 17:36

Well done to everyone still managing to get out. The holidays are killing me I haven't been out properly in more than a week. I'm going to restart b210k when the schools go back hopefully I'll still be able to run 10mins 😂

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 19/07/2017 20:19

I'm still just walking as much as I can... I don't think I could do 10 minutes now!

Fantastictwistsand · 20/07/2017 09:07

Hi everyone,

I've finally decided to give C25K a go. I did W1R1 on Tuesday and it actually went okay, I struggled a lot with the 1 minute runs but I did complete them all and I didn't expect to be able. W1D2 tonight and I'm kind of looking forward to it.

Howlongtillbedtime · 23/07/2017 21:18

Hello all . I am back on it. Have had a stupidly busy month and bloody hell it hurts again when I get and run .

I went out today and walked loads. I have the day off tomorrow so going to try again.

Good luck everyone and a huge well done to anyone still around who is getting out there.
