For one pointless -excuse- reason after another I get so far and then stop .

This time I have signed myself up for a 5k in May so I have to do it now . I do enjoy it once I get into it and I really want to finish something for once .

If anyone has any hints tips or kicks up the arse spare I would appreciate it .

Hi daytona I used the zen labs C25K app. I've heard the nhs one is good too, they sound pretty similar. Now that I've completed the program I use the Samsung health app to track distance and towards the end I used them together. I also use Spotify for music to run to. Good luck!

Well done theworld. I celebrated with a Stoats Chocolate Orange bar and a gin this evening when I finally stopped

Hi Daytona I use C25k to actually build up jogging time in increments, and also MapMyFitness which tracks distance, time, elevation etc and I find that really useful.

NHS one is good. The music is a bit dire but that is an extra incentive to avoid having to repeat a week. A lovely lady called Laura tell you that you are doing really well, and that you can do it and that you are allowed to go slower which is nice. And she reminds you that if you don't manage to complete a run just repeat it.

Parkrun is the best thing I ever started. Doesn't matter how long it takes, everyone is super friendly (especially at the little ones). I've met some great people there and although I've been advised not to run with this pregnancy I'm still volunteering. Definitely get out and give it a go.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 01/06/2017 18:01

Definitely need to start running again this week.

Just spent the day in an impossibly small set of work trousers that I swear used to fit a couple of years ago. Hopefully they might fit again one day.

Week 6 completed!

day I use the zen labs and like it.

Cut my pace again today. Really pleased

whothefuckhas5children · 01/06/2017 19:50

Well done user!!

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 01/06/2017 19:53

Week 1 run 1 completed. It's still boiling out there.

The 'zombies run' app is good if you want a bit more 'fun' when you run. I'm not sure if the couch to 5k version is free though.

inniu · 01/06/2017 21:24

I never do any exercise but started C25k recently. I finished week 7 today and am delighted with myself.

whothefuckhas5children · 01/06/2017 23:55

Rafals well done
inniu hope week eight goes well for you amarach!

Boatsnack · 02/06/2017 10:26

Well done Rafals

Good luck with w8 innui

I did 5km this morning tried a new route but didn't realise the pavement disappears half way along so ended up running 2km along a grass verge with a 50mph road at my side not fun! It meant my time was a lot slower than usual too but at least I went out.

inniu · 02/06/2017 13:03

Hello all. Well I didn't get out yesterday as the children and I did 6hrs at a theme park with all the walking/standing and lugging stuff that requires. Rubbish night's sleep, super busy day, but went out and did 17mins jogging. Whoohoo

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 03/06/2017 21:26

Whoops, hit send too soon.

Well done to everyone else who got out. I'm going to aim for 20 on Tuesday night and then i really need to keep the momentum going!

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 03/06/2017 21:35

Didn't manage to get out tonight got distracted on MN will have to go out tomorrow morning I think. Might have to be a 7am run if I want to fit it in.

whothefuckhas5children · 04/06/2017 07:09

rafals are you running right now?GrinWink

Boatsnack · 04/06/2017 07:30

Ran home from work again, still walking the hill but I was a little quicker. 6.5km 47mins.

Well done world

whothefuckhas5children · 04/06/2017 14:29

W7R1 completed. Managed 5km counting the warm up cool down.

Well done boat. I hope to be able to do that shortly.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 04/06/2017 16:40

Er. No I wasn't who. Grin
I haven't done any of the other things I was going to do today either.

Well done boat.

Pissing down with rain here so could be quite a wet run.

Boatsnack · 04/06/2017 17:45

I think I prefer rain to blazing sunshine rafals although it wasn't hot.

Well done who

Think I might try a different route next week it has a steeper hill but doesn't go on for as long and see if I can manage that one.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 04/06/2017 18:41

I'm with you there, boat. It's quite refreshing.

Unless it's also accompanied by a gale force wind.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 04/06/2017 19:29

Week 1 run 2 done.

Legs a bit wobbly and lungs not as good as Thursday but wasn't too taxing.

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 04/06/2017 19:58

Hey all, keep going Rafals, not every run is the same, so hopefully next time will be easier again.

I prefer cool/rain to sunshine too!

inniu · 05/06/2017 11:16

I am very frustrated with myself.

After finding all the runs an effort but doable I went to do 28 minutes on Saturday and had to walk from 22 minutes. I thought it was one bad day but again today was worse. I had to walk from 15 minutes.

I don't know if it is in my mind or if the fact that I went out for a few drinks the night before has messed me up. Both times it was 3 drinks the night before.

I need to get my mojo back as I was so close to getting to my 5k in 30 minutes.

Howlongtillbedtime · 05/06/2017 13:13

Hi all , I have decided I am going to concentrate on carrying on with the 5k until I feel more comfortable with it rather than upping the distance.

I am definitely not a natural runner and whenever I put pressure on myself to go further I end up feeling a bit rubbish and failing .

Could do with a kick of anyone has one spare !
