For one pointless -excuse- reason after another I get so far and then stop .

This time I have signed myself up for a 5k in May so I have to do it now . I do enjoy it once I get into it and I really want to finish something for once .

If anyone has any hints tips or kicks up the arse spare I would appreciate it .

No shame in that! You've got to the 5K really quickly in the end...I'm still not even close.

I have no get up and go either but planning to go out tomorrow night.

kick

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 05/06/2017 13:35

Just saw your post too inniu Sorry you're feeling frustrated. We are so hard on ourselves. You have jogged a continuous 15 and 22 minutes. Remember how hard 60s felt at the beginning? Have some sleep and stay hydrated not with gin and I'm sure you'll be up there soon.

Howlongtillbedtime · 05/06/2017 13:54

Thank you world I think I just thought that once I could do 5k then it would magically not be quite so painful as it still is . Grin

And yes Istill remember that first couple of weeks and how tough it was.

I'm not finding it any easier than back then TBH either so thinking it's mind over screaming lungs and legs... I have done nothing but stuff my face today. Hmm, need to find my mojo for tomorrow!

Howlongtillbedtime · 05/06/2017 16:19

I had some nice healthy soup and rice cakes and then had a crisp sandwich ! Ooops.

Could you still be finding it hard because you've upped the pace? I tend to find the more I run or get used to running the faster I start out.

Having home back to week 1 las week I ended up starting the first 60s run at a ridiculous speed. By the time I got to the last one I had to think about whether I'd be able to overtake the old lady with the dog in front of me.

It's absolutely hammering it down tonight. Might reconsider that thing about preferring to run in the rain.

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 05/06/2017 19:29

I'm minus raincoat for the next few days so hoping it's not too wet tomorrow night too long boring story

Boatsnack · 05/06/2017 20:32

how I'm the same I do 6.5k on a Sunday morning out of necessity and I walk a chunk of that but any other runs I do in the week are 5km or under.

innui alcohol the night before really affects my stamina.

Howlongtillbedtime · 05/06/2017 21:10

Thanks for the kicks , I just need to remind myself that yes it is still hard but it is a lot easier than it was 2 or 3 months ago .
The first 2 1/2k is actually nearly enjoyable .
I am going to get out tomorrow and do 5k and try and slow it down and enjoy it more .

We are all getting out there and doing it which is the main thing .

I haven't gone out. Sat on the sofa comfort eating Sad

Howlongtillbedtime · 06/06/2017 20:57

I am sorry you are having a rough time world
I hope its nothing too serious and tomorrow is a better day.

World hope everything is ok.

I decided not to wait for my scheduled run tomorrow but went out this evening to try to get back on track and managed my 28 minute run.
I guess the few drinks does make a big difference.

Boatsnack · 06/06/2017 22:02

Hope all is OK world

Well done innui

I took today as a rest day it's been raining biblical proportions all day. I've had to change clothes 3 times, just doing the school run and slimming club. I'll be back at it in the morning.

Howlongtillbedtime · 06/06/2017 22:15

Well done innui

I went out tonight and actually loved my run ! Grin
I slowed down and kept reminding myself that it wasn't a punishment , I have made a decision to do this and its supposed to be enjoyable.

I did 5.5k in 40.26 mins which isn't fast but it was enjoyable which is much more enjoyable .

Howlongtillbedtime · 06/06/2017 22:17

Thats a lot of enjoyables ! The last one was supposed to be important.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 06/06/2017 22:22

Hope you are OK World

Did Week 1 Run 3 tonight. Into a force 6 head wind which made it interesting. Rain just about held off.

We lost the power for about 3 hrs last night boat. Did consider going out because there wasn't much else to do but it wasn't really running weather Grin

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 06/06/2017 22:23

Well done on the 28 minutes innui

whothefuckhas5children · 06/06/2017 22:35

World - you will get there! Can you get out tomorrow morning?

Innui - it will work out for you too. Keep on moving.

How - your almost there! So exciting.

Boat - I'm in awe of 6.5!

So today I managed to shave 27 seconds off my average time per km, down to 7.14 min/km, tackled the hill that I've avoided since I've started, completed 5km including warm up/cool down and really enjoyed it in the process. W7R3 to tackle next.

It's been 23 years ShockBlush since I've last run and am liking it!!

whothefuckhas5children · 06/06/2017 22:39

Cross posted with the last few posts!

Great to get your mojo innui! Whoop whoop

Rafals - I don't think I could get out in the wind! Well done.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 06/06/2017 23:36

You do get used to running in the wind round here. If you didn't you'd probably never run at all.

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 07/06/2017 06:29

Hey, thanks for all the kind messages. It is just life getting on top of me. The hoover blew up which is just the latest in a long line of stuff going wrong.

DS woke at 4:30 so while I had plenty of time to go jogging, I flounced on the sofa instead and now it's shower time.

Boatsnack · 07/06/2017 09:49

Sleep deprivation is the worst world you'll get there.

who I probably only ran 5.5km of the 6.5km because I walked up the hill. Well done on getting your time down.

rafals it's the same here if I didn't go out in the wind I'd never be out. Nothing worse when it catches you off guard as you turn a corner thankfully I'm quite hefty not going to get blown away easily.

how congrats on getting out and making it enjoyable again.
