For one pointless -excuse- reason after another I get so far and then stop .

This time I have signed myself up for a 5k in May so I have to do it now . I do enjoy it once I get into it and I really want to finish something for once .

If anyone has any hints tips or kicks up the arse spare I would appreciate it .

I'd love to get there by July which will be one year since first starting it! Blush

It's still better than just sitting on the sofa eating rubbish.

usernamealreadytaken · 29/05/2017 15:24

I still sit on the sofa eating rubbish - I can justify it now though Grin

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 29/05/2017 15:37

Me too, but I feel slightly better. Looking forward to Eton mess tonight - that's part of my 5 a day surely Grin

Boatsnack · 29/05/2017 15:58

Thanks user my job is pretty physical so my knees, ankles and hip were all protesting loudly yesterday morning. You are doing fab sounds like the 5km is just around the corner.

I'm just in from a 5km 33 mins not my best time but it was a nice wee run. Got to earn tonights wine somehow. I usually run after dropping dd at school so it was a bit strange starting from home slightly easier to avoid steep hills though.

world you'll get there I'm at least 4 years since I first started c25k, dd was in nursery she'll be p4 in a couple of months.

whothefuckhas5children · 30/05/2017 19:44

Thanks boat and user!

World -isn't that a really good time (or has my maths gone awry totally possible )?

I'm just finished W6R2. Including cool down and warm up 4.35km at 7.48 min/km

Does everyone include the warm up and cool down when calculating the distance travelled and the pace? Or should it just be the middle part?

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 30/05/2017 20:24

Wouldn't worry about it World* I started about 5 years ago. I may have been optimistic when I said I might get there by Christmas.

I might go out again tomorrow but an going to go back to week 2 and see how that goes.

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 30/05/2017 20:43

waves hellloooo Grin

Off out tomorrow night. 5K = 3.1m so some way to go. I just turn my app on when I step out and log it all.

Catonsie · 30/05/2017 21:16

I'm also about to brave the dreaded 20. Did Wk5r2 and found it fine except for leaden calves at the end. My breathing has transformed - it's the easiest bit now (despite a lifetime of heavy smoking).

I took advice from here and really slowed down. Makes a huge difference.

I've done it all on a treadmill until wk5. I'm definitely faster on a treadmill, but time flies when you're outdoors (except for any form of uphill).

Aiming for park run at Fountains Abbey Yorkshire this summer. It'll be a scenic route!

onadifferentplanet · 30/05/2017 21:23

Struggled today, W3/R2 I actually got myself outside and ran up and down the field path behind the estate I live on and while I managed it realised how much easier it is jogging round the garden, This evening I ache all over!

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 30/05/2017 22:24

Well done for getting outside, planet

Boatsnack · 30/05/2017 23:14

Well done planet that's fantastic!!

Today should have been a rest day but I did a wee 4km cause I wanted to. I can't believe I'm becoming the type of person who fancies going for a run.

whothefuckhas5children · 31/05/2017 04:36

Well done planet. Keep it up!

whothefuckhas5children · 31/05/2017 04:53

For those who are wondering if the 5km in 30 mins is achievable here's a good link to explain why your 34 mins is equivalent to a 25 year olds 30 mins...

Howlongtillbedtime · 31/05/2017 07:51

Helloooo all ! It looks like everyone is doing fab .
I am so impressed you got out of your garden planet

I haven't been out since last week but braved it this morning and it was my worst for a while. I had to stop and walk after 2k so cut it short and jogged / walked the last 1k . Was hoping to do the usual to buy it was not to be today. I will keep trying though . Hoping to get out tomorrow .
boat I know exactly what you mean . I was away for a hen weekend and found myself wishing I had brought my kit with me . I never thought I would be that person.

Good luck to everyone out and about today.

Thanks for that whothe; I'm still to make the 5k and certainly nowhere near my age adjusted target, but it gives me something to aim for Shock

Howlong it's harder after a longer break, but you'll pick up again. You're still doing better than those just sitting on the couch not doing anything Grin

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 31/05/2017 11:50

Well I'm 35 so apparently I can do it in 30 minutes like heck but it's something to aim for (once I actually complete 5K lol)

Not sure how I will do tonight, but I will be going!

Well done for making the transition to the "real" world, it really does make a difference where you jog doesn't it?

Boatsnack · 31/05/2017 11:54

That's interesting who although I can do the 5km in less than 30minutes now. I think the fact I've got long legs helps and my natural walking pace is under 8mins per km

how you'll get there. I was going to go out today but I'm not feeling it, rest day for me.

Howlongtillbedtime · 31/05/2017 12:55

Thanks all . I am going to get out again tomorrow , just frustrating as I was doing the 5k before . In 34 mins but I was still doing it .....

usernamealreadytaken · 31/05/2017 13:01

I have a fair way to go timewise, but I CAN NOW RUN 5K ALL IN ONE GO GrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

Well, I've done it once, so I'd assume I can do it again. It's hot and sunny today, and I couldn't get out until 11.30am but there was no way I was giving up. It took 35:47 so not setting any records there, but for somebody who thought they were dying after running for a minute at the beginning of April, I'm doing okay Grin

Boatsnack · 31/05/2017 13:10

Congratulations user 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🏃🏃

Howlongtillbedtime · 31/05/2017 13:17

Well done userFlowers

It is such a fab feeling isn't it ? And there is nothing wrong with that time either . Fab Grin

Amazing! Well done!

usernamealreadytaken · 31/05/2017 15:29

Tank you, it really did feel great Grin If I can do it, anyone can GrinGrin

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 31/05/2017 19:53

I went with DD to the park as she'd been cooped up all day travelling. Had to go at a slower pace for the walk and the field is very steep. Did 15 minutes in one go (4 laps of the park) and 3.4km in total in 35 mins.

Now sat eating a Cornetto
