For one pointless -excuse- reason after another I get so far and then stop .

This time I have signed myself up for a 5k in May so I have to do it now . I do enjoy it once I get into it and I really want to finish something for once .

If anyone has any hints tips or kicks up the arse spare I would appreciate it .

A new personal best this morning. It was so hot I thought I was going to puke not pretty. This is Scotland we don't do heat 😀

Hope you get a handle on the asthma Rafals

Is anyone else planning on running today? I recommend an air conditioned gym or at the very least somewhere with lots of shade.

W2R3 for me today though I think I will have to wait until this evening when it's cooler.
Ds2 is coming home for a few days from Uni before going back for the last of this year's exams so has promised to come out with me which will make a change from running round the garden!
Have also plucked up the courage to make an appointment with my GP after a friend told me about a supervised exercise programme I might be able to do if the GP will refer me so fingers crossed, with you lot so kindly behind me too I might actually get somewhere this time. Ds1 gets married in 6 months time so I have a goal to aim for both being fitter and healthier and able to get out of my comfort zone to be part of it.

Hello

I'm still here but haven't been out. Walked a good few miles yesterday all with double buggy and got sunburnt today just wandering between the shops!

Hoping I will magically find the energy to go out tomorrow night...

Howlongtillbedtime · 25/05/2017 20:51

boat that is amazing ! Very impressive time especially in this heat.
planet you sound like you are doing really well and your ds sounds like a goodun too . Good luck with the gp , will keep my fingers crossed you get the referral .

Well done to those who got out.
boat well done on the time!
planet hats off to you - keep it up.
world you will get out - keep reminding yourself of that.

I've completed W5R2 tonight. My DD(9) came with me and she did the two eight minute runs quite well.

(Is it wrong to say that I'm sort of looking forward to the 20 mins next?Blush)

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 25/05/2017 21:19

Uhm yes it was bad... nothing that won't sort itself in the long run. Really just trying to be kind to myself. Had a haircut today and dressed really nicely (felt out of my comfort zone - but a size 12 maxi dress felt good to put on!)

Been putting on foot cream, painted my toe nails, been using a gradual tanning lotion too.

Boatsnack · 25/05/2017 21:35

Thanks everyone

It's good to look after yourself world I haven't been a 12 since before dd was born she's 8. Hopefully by the end of the year.

planet you're doing fab, good luck with the gp.

who well done! W5 was my nemesis for years. The first time I ran the 20mins I was grinning like a Cheshire cat for days.

Howlongtillbedtime · 25/05/2017 22:28

I dream of getting into a size 12 world its been a long time.......
I also had a haircut today and did my nails . Running and getting fitter is just a part of me feeling better about myself and realising that I matter too !

who that 20 min run was such a big deal for me . Good luck you will be grand.

I won't be doing an awful lot until Monday now . I am away for a hen weekend from tomorrow so not the healthiest few days ahead but it will be fab Grin

wk2 done and a great GP appointment. I have been referred for a supervised 12 week programme which hopefully will really help the anxiety which causes the agoraphobia. The other good thing was that my blood pressure had significantly dropped since I last visited the doctors and she said the running probably had a lot to do with .

usernamealreadytaken · 25/05/2017 22:46

Boat that's an amazing time, well done! I did 3k yesterday in just over 24 mins - it was arduous in the heat and I just couldn't do any more. Hoping to get out again tomorrow or Saturday.

Who that's great going, and lovely to have D joining you too - DS came with me once and it was Greta to have the company. It's not weird to look forward to the 20 mins; I did once I got my head around it!

One hi welcome, I'm quite new too . Glad you are feeling positive; I found my mood has improved hugely since I started this, and I'm really looking forward to each run now (except in this heat!).

Howlongtillbedtime · 25/05/2017 22:47

Well done planet what does the exercise programme consist of ? Sounds like a good thing .

OP posts:
onadifferentplanet · 26/05/2017 08:16

I am not exactly sure! I know I have to go to an initial appointment where they do some basic health checks and prepare you a personalised programme of activities and then through the 12 weeks you are monitored. It says in the leaflet it can include exercise classes, gym based programmes, water based exercises (not sure the world is ready for me in a swimming costume!), supervised health walks and condition specific programmes. A quick google shows similar programmes are available all over the country so maybe it could help some of you?

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 26/05/2017 11:07

Well done planet that sounds very positive.

I'm going to eat some lunch now and then might go for a jog at 3pm so thinking of somewhere to go which will be shaded and away from people as I'll be a sweaty mess!

Boatsnack · 26/05/2017 14:32

That sounds fab planet

Thanks user I think I was just so desperate to get it over with I ran faster than usual. It was only about 18°c because it was 9am after the school run.

You'll need to be somewhere really shady world weather like this makes me wish I had a gym membership. It must be so much easier with air conditioning.

I took today as my rest day it's too hot. I'm currently sweltering in a leisure centre cafe while dd is at gymnastics looking forward to getting home and putting my pj's on. Good luck to anyone running today.

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 26/05/2017 21:15

I managed 1.5m in 21mins - it was relatively shady but full of lairy students off on half term.

Will aim to get out early or late Sunday for a longer run.

usernamealreadytaken · 27/05/2017 10:40

Personal best this morning Smile got out about 8.30am so it was still relatively cool. Managed 6k in 45.20, so about 15 mins walking and 30 jogging; I reckon I jogged about 4K of the 6. Getting there GrinGrinGrin

Boatsnack · 27/05/2017 15:23

Well done world and user I thought about going out about 5am because I couldn't sleep but decided not to.

I'm nightshift tonight so I'll run home in the morning it's quicker than getting 2 buses. Although there is a massive hill that's a killer.

usernamealreadytaken · 28/05/2017 00:14

Hills really kill me too boat, so much so that I'll actually run further away on the flatter path then walk home after Blush

whothefuckhas5children · 28/05/2017 11:22

I DID IT!!! W5R3 COMPLETEGrin

Sorry to shout but am delighted with myself. I did it at an overall pace of 8 min per km. covered 3.8 km.

5k here I come

Today I did wk3 r1 couch to 5k and I need to complete it this time !
Boatsnack · 28/05/2017 17:59

Well done who 👏👏🎉🎉

My run this morning was awful 6.5km of pure torture. It took me 51 minutes I can walk it in 60. I did it in 45 minutes last week but really wasn't feeling it today.

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 28/05/2017 20:45

Hello! I was out for 3.2km this morning. Only 13 minutes of running so guess I'm building up again...I really am rubbish at this jogging lark.

Well done to everyone else, that's amazing effort!

usernamealreadytaken · 29/05/2017 10:14

Oh boat don't get too disheartened - you ran after doing a night shift and there was a killer hill, you did well to even attempt it! Hope it wasn't raining too Flowers

Whothe shout away, you did brilliantly!

I'm just having a cuppa after running for my first 30 straight minutes W8R3 - 4.26k so that's the furthest and fastest I've ever managed GrinGrinGrin I really feel like I can try the full 5k next time, so long as I pick a route without a killer hill; I'd rather succeed at something easier than set myself up to fail at the harder choice iyswim.

usernamealreadytaken · 29/05/2017 10:15

Hey theworld just keep going, you'll get there Flowers
