For one pointless -excuse- reason after another I get so far and then stop .

This time I have signed myself up for a 5k in May so I have to do it now . I do enjoy it once I get into it and I really want to finish something for once .

If anyone has any hints tips or kicks up the arse spare I would appreciate it .

Hope you went out Rafals, I'm already dreading the thought of going tonight but always feel good for doing it...

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 19/05/2017 08:13

I did, but it wasn't great.

I don't think my head was in the right place. I can usually run that off. Know what you mean about feeling better for doing it.

Howlongtillbedtime · 19/05/2017 08:29

I thought I had posted a kick to you last night rafals but it clearly didn't post .

Well done for getting out anyway . Not sure I could face it that time of night , I am normally definitely on the couch by then.

Good luck for tonight world We are parkrunning again tomorrow so will try and keep the wine consumption down tonight .I am going to see a friend I haven't seen for a while so.......

Good luck to all getting out today !

I tried to post yesterday but the mobile site wasn't working and I can't get on with desktop on my phone. Well done for getting out rafals hopefully next one will be better.

Good luck for tonight world and for parkrun tomo how

I went to go out yesterday fell up a kerb and hurt my foot so went home instead. Apparently injuries help me run faster though because this morning I did 5km in 30.36 minutes. I am so pleased 🎉🎉🎉

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 19/05/2017 12:07

Wow, boat glad you're OK and that is an excellent time!

Good luck for tomorrow how

usernamealreadytaken · 19/05/2017 13:08

Well done boat that's brilliant Grin

Good luck for tomorrow how

Last night I managed 4.9km in 37.33 mins (about 25 mins jogging, the rest walking) - was really hard going at the end of the run as it was a long uphill. Felt good after and actually recovered quickly, but checked distance and the actual run was only about 2 miles rather than the 2.5 miles that C25K say I should be running in 25 mins - I must be flipping slow! Not sure whether I should cut down the actual running time and concentrate on running faster before building up time, or carry on running slowly for longer and then trying to get more speed - any advice anyone?

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 21/05/2017 07:43

Morning all. I never did get out. DS had a high temp and was stuck like a limpet and a 4am start yesterday and 4:55 today Shock

Can't see it happening till Wednesday now really.

Well done for all of you who are making it out regularly. User maybe just don't worry about distance. I got a bit caught up in trying to cover 5K and have gone back to just doing a decent length of time (not that I've managed that recently)

Howlongtillbedtime · 21/05/2017 08:13

user I agree with world just ignore the distance and get the time covered . I was driving myself mad worrying about the distance and it wasn't good enough . But then I remembered no-one is making me do it and there is no test and I am supposed to be enjoying it . Once I relaxed and slowed down I found I went a lot further for a lot longer .

Sorry your ds is poorly again world The only day that starts that early is one with a flight involved .

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 21/05/2017 12:47

I would go for either time or distance but don't try to combine both.

Once you can consistently run for 30mins, then you can try and up the distance.

littleredpear · 22/05/2017 12:56

I'm new to the thread and needing some help.

I've been trying massively over the last few months with C25K and getting nowhere.

Not getting any progress and starting each session on turn but it's rubbish. I just stop after a few minutes of running and the rest of the session is a run/walk affair.

No progress at all.

Any tips or tricks anyone can recommend?

Howlongtillbedtime · 22/05/2017 15:26

Hi pear the biggest thing that helped me was forgetting about the distance and just slowing the running right down .Now I can run the whole 5k which I never thought I'd be able to do.

Where have you for up to ? I also found repeating a week if I was struggling helped too.

littleredpear · 22/05/2017 19:19

I've plodded through the couch to 5km until about week 5 day 2 (C25K app) but I've never felt any better than I did in week 1. Every step after the first few minutes feels like I'm going to die.

I've got new shoes. I've got a massive playlist.

Every time I pump myself up, think this is the one but nope.

I'm carrying too much weight I think.

I think the idea of time not speed or distance is a good one.

I've only run outside a couple of times, it's not hard to miss me in the village so it's really bad running outside. I've stuck to the gym so I can hide!

Boatsnack · 22/05/2017 19:22

Hi pear I agree with how repeat weeks if you have too and slow right down.

whothefuckhas5children · 22/05/2017 22:59

....

Just completed W4R3 tonight. Have forgotten that I actually like exercising and am enjoying the last 4 weeks. Well done everyone for keeping going.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 23/05/2017 08:26

I'm thirsting the advice to repeat weeks and slow down.

The usual advice if your struggling with and run is to slow down.

Howlongtillbedtime · 23/05/2017 10:24

Welcome who and if it's you that has the 5 kids I am very impressed you find time to get out and run . Or are you just running away from them all ? Grin

Back on the treadmill yesterday , it was a bit blumming hot here . How does everyone cope with the heat ?
I think I will have to try and get out at stupid o clock in the morning.

Good luck everyone getting out today .

May I join you please? Just sitting procrastinating on the sofa when I should be doing Wk2 Run 2/ At the moment most of my efforts are around the garden as I suffer from agoraphobia and unless I can persuade on of the Ds' to drag along cant manage the runs away from home. Brought myself some decent running shoes as a reward for completing the first week so now need to pluck up the courage to actually run somewhere in them!

Howlongtillbedtime · 23/05/2017 10:56

Welcome planet my procrastrinating was my biggest talent so I know how that feels .

I don't know much about agrophobia but would it help if you went to the next village or town or park where you won't know anyone ? Apologies if that's way off the mark . I do know I have found running outside really clears my head once I get going .

whothefuckhas5children · 23/05/2017 21:39

Thanks for the welcome. Yup I have 5 and as my youngest is nearly 2 it's time to get back in shape Blush

Just finished W5R1

planet you're great to be running at all. Keep it up and you never know where it might get you.

littleredpear · 23/05/2017 21:44

Ok will time, not distance and speed will come Smile

Boatsnack · 24/05/2017 12:54

This is my run from yesterday, I hated every minute of it. I think I'm going back to 5km and I'll work on my speed rather than distance.

Welcome to all the newbies. who I can barely cope with one, five would be chaos.

planet I agree I'm in awe that you're managing to run at all keep at it, we're all rooting for you.

pear last year I did w3 about 5 times before moving forward, I then gave up on w5. 10 months later I decided to try again and I can now run for 50mins. You can do it.

Today I did wk3 r1 couch to 5k and I need to complete it this time !
whothefuckhas5children · 24/05/2017 18:14

Star well done boat. (It is chaos in my house alright Grin)

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 24/05/2017 20:17

Hello all, I haven't made it out but did walk about 4 miles with double buggy and then to Tesco and back for alcohol it's been one of those years

I also find each run agonising. The things that have helped me (when in the zone) is going out every other night, doing a route I'm comfortable with and forgetting distance, breathing rhythmically and sips of water every so often.

Really need to find my get up and go again!

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 24/05/2017 21:36

I usually find week 4 is my nemesis. It seems to have a terrible affect on my asthma. The last 2 times I've done C25k I've skipped from 3 to 5.

This time I can manage 4 but 5 is causing all sorts of issues. Having a break this week while I play about with mens for a bit.

pear you sound like you are doing brilliantly.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 24/05/2017 21:37

meds I am playing about with meds

I really should proofread before I press post, not as I do it.
