For one pointless -excuse- reason after another I get so far and then stop .

This time I have signed myself up for a 5k in May so I have to do it now . I do enjoy it once I get into it and I really want to finish something for once .

If anyone has any hints tips or kicks up the arse spare I would appreciate it .

Hey all, I've been out but it clearly was an insult to other people when I said I'd have to go back to week 5. I only managed 6 minutes of running. My body complained even on the warm up walk, but I stayed out and did 35 minutes in total which was just under 4K.

Will aim to go back out Monday or Tuesday and see how it goes!

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 13/05/2017 23:09

I've been doing weeks 3-5 for about the last 6 weeks, World. It depends on what sort of a day my asthma/back/foot are having.

Definitely signing up for the long haul. I may reach week 9 by Xmas at this rate Grin

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 14/05/2017 11:24

Just attempted week 5 run 2. First 8 min run wasn't too bad. Needed to add an extra minute to the 'brisk' 5 min walk and then ended up splitting the 2nd 8 min run into 5 mins and 3 mins with a 10 min walk in between.

Might need to stick with this one for a couple of runs. No way am I going to manage the 20 min run any time soon.

Boatsnack · 15/05/2017 10:37

Well I did W7R3 this morning despite my hangover and the rain. It was the longest 25mins of my life.

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 15/05/2017 20:43

Hello, you are my people Grin I've had a long few days with a poorly DS (now recovered, thanks) but DD threw a massive wobbly this evening she's nearly 11 Shock Consoled myself with Cake obviously!

I'm going to be on foot quite a bit tomorrow - walk to school week and meeting a friend for a walk too. Hoping I will make it out on Wednesday. Watch this space.

How are you doing? Are you going to do park run every week now?

WheresTheEvidence · 15/05/2017 22:13

Wk3 day 1 - how did we jump to this?! Survived tonight- went with a friend tonight and had fun but how am I supposed to run 5 minutes next week?

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 16/05/2017 06:25

It will come! You can always repeat week 3 if needed.

WheresTheEvidence · 16/05/2017 07:03

It's strange. I always seem to feel more awake the morning after a "run" despite having just as much or even less sleep than usual.

Howlongtillbedtime · 16/05/2017 07:31

Morning all . Sorry to hear your ds has been poorly world And a stroppy ten yr old . Cake sounds like a very wise medication Grin

I have started yesterday following a 5 to 10k app which feels bonkers ! I still can't believe I am a person that can manage to run the whole 5k without stopping . It still hurts and it isn't pretty but I am doing it .

I may never manage 10k and that's fine but I felt I needed another goal . And yes we are going to carry on with the park runs . I would reccomend them to everyone . Really friendly and they have people of all availabilities from sprinting to walking .

wheres it is weird but the next stages do happen . Every week I would finish thinking there was no way I could ever do longer but someone would generally manage it and if I couldn't I just repeated the week until I felt comfy . It Doesnt matter how long it takes to get to wk 9 . I always sleep better as well . I think it's your body being properly physically tired rather than just feeling knackered ( for me anyway)

Good luck to all getting out today .

So this morning I decided to try the 5km and I did it. I am so happy finally after 4 years of stop starts on the programme I can run for 5km. I need to find a better route though I ended up about a 15min walk from my house because I was desperately trying to avoid up hills.

wheres stick with it you'll get there.

how I'm going to look into park run now I can do the 5km.

world hope everyone is feeling brighter today. I wish they would rename walk to school week as don't take the car week because dd is insisting it means she has to walk all the way there instead of going in her wheelchair most of the way. Then she's stropping because she can't do it. We just end up being late everyday.

Today I did wk3 r1 couch to 5k and I need to complete it this time !

Woohoo! boat that is amazing , well done you Grin How do you feel ? Amazing time too !

Boatsnack · 16/05/2017 11:27

Thanks I feel amazing but absolutely starving. Normally running suppresses my appetite but I've eaten everything in sight since I got in although I've been trying to stick to allowed foods think I'll make something carbtastic for lunch. 😂😂

WheresTheEvidence · 16/05/2017 13:47

How spaced out do people do the runs. It says 3x a week but not sure what's best

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 16/05/2017 19:56

Ah bless her boat that's brave of her (and annoying for you)

Well one for managing 5K. I still don't feel like I'll ever get there at the moment, but going to keep going.

Wheres If I'm in the zone, I try to do every other night... the longer I leave it the harder it gets!

Howlongtillbedtime · 16/05/2017 20:08

where About 18 months at times Grin

But I generally aim for every other night when I am being good .

boat that is really irritating . Have you spoken to the school about it or is it just another annoying thing that it would be nice if others would have a bit of thought about ?

Did you do all your walking today world Just being out in the air helps I reckon .

Boat that's brilliant, well done 🍾😀

usernamealreadytaken · 16/05/2017 21:54

Hi rafals well done just stick with it. Seven or eight weeks ago I struggled to run for one minute; tonight I did W7R1 which was 25 minutes - not pretty but I pushed myself and did it - felt fab after but legs are aching and I've had a niggling headache all day. Funny though, I didn't notice the headache when I was jogging!

I got a mental block at the end of W5 - just didn't feel ready for 20 mins but when I tried it I found I could! I planned my route carefully so the worst uphill bit was right at the beginning, then most of the rest was downhill then fairly level. Go for it!

Boatsnack · 16/05/2017 21:59

where I had about 10 months between W5R1 and W5R2 😀 but at the moment I'm out Tues to Fri.

how I've never mentioned it because it's only one week a year. She'll probably manage to cycle the rest of the week and despite needing support she doesn't see it the same.

world thanks she is the bravest most determined child you've ever met honestly if only we had all been born with her motivation to succeed.

WheresTheEvidence · 16/05/2017 22:15

Grin at the regularity of spaced out runs!

Went out again tonight so week 3 day 2 but alone. Also added an extra 3 minutes run at the end during cool down Shock as I had quite a walk home.

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 17/05/2017 06:22

Yes I did all my walking yesterday. Going to go out tonight and see what happens. Can't get any worse Wink

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 17/05/2017 18:32

Thanks, user. I'm sure I'll get there eventually. I think I just need to remember that 3 months ago I couldn't walk for 3 mins without having to stop and take my inhaler. This is at least an improvement. If I only ever run for 5 mins at a time it's better than doing nothing.

I'm was running ever other night but might slow that down a bit to every two nights.

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 17/05/2017 21:15

I've been out in the rain. Jogged for 13 out of a total of 35. Not amazing but much better than Saturday.

Sounds like a great improvement Rafals

Howlongtillbedtime · 17/05/2017 21:39

Well done world I am very impressed you went out in the rain . I wimped out and went to the gym .

rafals you will get there, you have the right attitude that's it a long term thing . Once I relaxed and admitted to myself it could take a while and I really slowed the jogging down to almost walking pace it started to click a lot better .

Thanks. Might go back out tomorrow night.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 18/05/2017 20:00

Need a bit of a kick up the arse tonight.

I'm procrastinating.
