London marathoners assemble

As the ballot spaces start being allocated I thought I'd start a thread for those of us lucky enough to get a space.

I was rejected through the ballot but I have had a charity space since June so I'm running (and raising £1400) I've been training for a half so I can get the distance under my belt. Im up to 11 miles now in just over 2 hours. I'm slow but getting there. I'd like to get in under 5 hours but I'm happy to just be running it.

Did first post marathon run today - definitely felt a little stiffer in legs but not too bad.
Really nice just to do 4 miles again

Got a list of HMs and 10ks that I fancy, but have to choose (guessing two a month may be slightly excessive...). Am going to ballot for London again too.

My vague plan initially is to try and focus on strength/conditioning/cross training for 2-3 months as I've realised just how extremely tight I am in my calves and hamstrings. So some running, but mainly 5-10k (was going to write just 5-10k until I remembered that was long distance 6 months ago!), maybe some HIIT and some yoga.

I ran this morning and managed about 2.5 miles...all sorts of new niggles in my legs, plus a cold that won't go away. Probably could of done more if I had to but just didn't feel like it! But it felt bizarre to give up considering how far I now know I can push it!

Hi all. I was on this thread ages ago under a different name but life got in the way and regretfully I didn't keep up with everyone's progress. Have just sat and read the last 20 pages or so and am in tears reading all your wonderful stories and seeing all the lovely pictures! Well done everyone, so fantastic and inspirational Smile. Keep on running!!
