As the ballot spaces start being allocated I thought I'd start a thread for those of us lucky enough to get a space.

I was rejected through the ballot but I have had a charity space since June so I'm running (and raising £1400) I've been training for a half so I can get the distance under my belt. Im up to 11 miles now in just over 2 hours. I'm slow but getting there. I'd like to get in under 5 hours but I'm happy to just be running it.

Elba I've never taken ibuprofen when I run but I am absolutely not going to start after reading that!!

Maid I'm going to shimmy my shoulders at every mile and think of you.

Best bit of advice I've heard is 'remember mile 13 is not the middle. Treat mile 20 as the middle!'

KittyandTeal · 22/04/2017 09:01

Omg!!!! It's tmrw, tmrw we are running a marathon!

I ran over tower bridge last night and felt really, really intimidated.

Elba that's good advice about ibuprofen. I didn't know until fairly recently and used to dose up on it when I had my period as I have endometriosis. I've now switched to paracetamol on days I'm running.

Sending mahoosive positive vibes your ways. I'll be cheering you all on from my sofa tomorrow x

Elba84 · 22/04/2017 19:33

Good luck everyone!! I'm got so much nervous energy now I actually can't wait to start...!

Went for a coffee with a friend after the expo and ended up taking a little detour to Tower Bridge which was all set up. Should of taken a better picture with the 20k marker in place, but here's a little preview for tomorrow...

Good luck everyone, enjoy it. I am excited but also exhausted and full of carbs so hoping for a reasonable sleep. Or as reasonable as it gets with a baby in the bed next to me.

Twodogsandahooch · 22/04/2017 20:49

I am so excited too now. A couple of near misses today. Nearly burnt a hole in my running vest ironing on the letters.

Anyone else feel they are taking too much stuff? All the gels, plus my medicine 'kit' weighs a ton. Not sure whether I should offload.

Anyone else in green start?

feetheart · 22/04/2017 23:39

GOOD LUCK to everyone running tomorrow. I am going to watch for the first time and am excited so goodness knows the emotions coursing through your bodies at the moment :)

DS and I will be at the Willow Foundation cheer point around mile 25. We will be very purple, we have Jelly babies and we have nicked borrowed our parkrun's PB bell so will be jangly!

Have a fabulous day, you are all amazing.

oliversax · 23/04/2017 05:52

Now I'm excited! I'm in the blue start, right at the back in pen 9 so will definitely be heading out slowly.

Have a great day everyone. All that training becomes worthwhile today.

emummy · 23/04/2017 06:03

I'm there too oliver, good luck!
Make lots of noise with that bell feetheart, think we will need it!

RupertsFriend · 23/04/2017 06:18

I'm in blue in pen 9 as well!

Also feel I have too much in my kitbag but on the basis it all fits it's going.

We wandered down the Mall yesterday to get a feel for the scale tomorrow but it's just going to be absolutely overwhelming. There'll be tears I'm sure.

Best of luck all.

Elba84 · 23/04/2017 06:44

Also in blue 9 Grin good luck everyone- we've got this!!

Honeyandfizz · 23/04/2017 07:05

GOOD LUCK you brave people! I'll be watching on TV!

KenDoddsDadsDog · 23/04/2017 07:07

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 23/04/2017 07:28

IrianOfW · 23/04/2017 10:58

emummy · 23/04/2017 17:15

I did it! 4:53! Happy with that as quite warm, plus my left leg got really sore the last 6 miles. Family saw me on BBC crossing the line, so they are happy!

DeepfriedPizza · 23/04/2017 18:17

Well done emummy and all others who ran today!

Elba84 · 23/04/2017 18:28

Well done emummy brilliant time! I did 5.31- perfectly happy with that. Underestimated the pain element massively though!

LobsterMac · 23/04/2017 19:07

I was aiming between 6 and 7 hours but got 6 hours and 59 seconds! Well pleased with that. Am now hobbling around London and heading to my hotel for a hot bath!
Well done on your brilliant times.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 23/04/2017 19:10

LobsterMac, you weren't the lobster I saw run past, were you?

oliversax · 23/04/2017 19:47

Well done everyone. What an achievement. 5.06 and feeling mightily impressed with myself. The last 6 miles were hard work. My sister saw me cross the finish line on BBC sport which is quite cool.

maid your smile mantra helped massively.

Thanks so much for all the support along the way, big help.

IrianOfW · 23/04/2017 19:57

BrillIiant times. Well done all xx It was so inspiring to watch

Twodogsandahooch · 23/04/2017 20:09

Bloody hell that was hard. Felt good until 16 miles and then was on the cusp of vomiting for the rest. Legs felt ok so was really frustrating. Walked a few sections so I didn't join the chunder crew. I think I went off too fast. Still managed 4.43 so very happy. Just disappointed that it felt so much worse than any of my training runs.

What an atmosphere though. the start was immense.

Well done everyone. I am bed already! Xx
