Hi

Has anyone recently started or just about to start? Would be great to have somewhere to check in and cheer each other on.

I've started very slowly and am about to embark on week 3. I'm spending 2 weeks on each week if that makes sense!

Look forward to anyone else joining in.

Thanks empress , yes I definitely paced it more carefully today. I found it relatively easy actually and last week the 8 min runs were nearly killing me! I'm going to repeat this run on Friday, perhaps I'll push myself a bit harder.

EmpressOfTheSevenOceans · 26/10/2016 22:14

I think 20 mins was the last big leap for me, now it's just adding a few more minutes on the end & I'm getting a bit more confident about going faster. Finishing W7 tomorrow.

I'm thinking about putting an extra run in early Saturday morning, when I don't have to get to work, & just seeing how far I can go.

MrsKellyJones · 27/10/2016 10:55

Hello ladies. So impressive to come and read what you've been up to!

I haven't been out in weeks. First a bad back, then a poorly child and then the chaos of half term. Got up to week 5 run 1, but think I should probably aim for a more sensible week 3 or week 4 run to ease myself back into it.

CrotchetQuaverMinim · 27/10/2016 11:11

Out again today, but really really sore calf/ankle now, so I'm glad it's the two day break until Sunday now. I hope that will be enough to help.

On the good side, I've done my 10, 10, 5 goal. So now need to work on extending the stamina and decreasing the walking. But gradually. And only if my shins are up to it, which at the moment I'm not sure they are. Might start taking more 2 day breaks and see how it goes.

Very impressed with all you people who are getting up to 20min!

EmpressOfTheSevenOceans · 27/10/2016 20:07

Hello Kelly! Sounds like you've had a tough time. Repeating a week sounds like a good move.

Crotchet, I'm impressed with you too. Hope your legs feel better soon.

EmpressOfTheSevenOceans · 28/10/2016 12:27

Oh.

Oh crikey.

Just had an email through from Pancreatic Cancer UK & I've officially got a place on the 10K in May.

I think I've got work to do.

HepKestrel · 28/10/2016 15:05

empress eek!! but you have a purpose, determination and plenty of time!

ScarlettDarling · 28/10/2016 18:20

Empress that's amazing! You've got loads of time to train for it, you're practically at 5k already, you can def do 10k by May!

I did week 5 run 3 again today and was happy to see my time per mile was a whole minute faster than last time...12 mins 4 secs per mile today and was 13 mins 4 secs per mile on wed!!

HepKestrel · 28/10/2016 21:11

W3r3 done.
Not a fun one. Not in the mood, but it's done. Very achy legs.

EmpressOfTheSevenOceans · 29/10/2016 07:49

I fucking do, Kestrel! Hope your legs are feeling better.

That's brilliant, Scarlet!

Xmasfairy86 · 29/10/2016 09:47

Oh empress. Firstly, fantastic cause. I lost my amazing Gran to this horrid illness nearly 3 years ago. And secondly, wow! 10K! You go girl!

I took a break at w7 so have gone back to week 5 this morning. Need to build back up to 20 mins!

EmpressOfTheSevenOceans · 29/10/2016 11:27

Xmas xxx I'm sorry about your gran. Going back to W5 makes sense.

Well - I got up early this morning & decided I was going to try for 5K. It ended up being just over 4.5K (route planning fail) but I'll take that for now.

compostheap · 30/10/2016 21:42

Hello
Not posted since my original hello, but have been reading what everyone is doing and am feeling inspired and impressed. Thinking of 10ks?? - that really is something!
I did W4R1 today and survived the dreaded 5 minutes, so at the moment anything is possible. May not be the same when I stumble downstairs tomorrow morning......

EmpressOfTheSevenOceans · 30/10/2016 21:49

Hitting the dreaded 5 mins is an achievement, Compost, congrats!

Xmasfairy86 · 30/10/2016 21:51

That first 5 min run feels amazing to complete!!! Well done compost!

HepKestrel · 31/10/2016 16:17

Waving Pom poms madly for Kestrel
StarStarStarStar

Just had a truly pants time recently.
Normal service will be resumed soon.
Even if I'm not posting much, I'm thinking of how you are all doing and sending you all positive 'believe in yourself, you can do it!' Vibes :-)

EmpressOfTheSevenOceans · 31/10/2016 19:55

Sorry you're having a rough time, Annette FlowersBrewCake

HepKestrel · 31/10/2016 20:17

W4r1 done. Left ankle is aching again though

EmpressOfTheSevenOceans · 31/10/2016 20:35

Sorry about your ankle, Kestrel, but you're doing great!

compostheap · 31/10/2016 22:01

Well done Kestrel - we did the 5 minutes!
And thank you to Empress and Xmas for being so encouraging. It almost makes me want to go out again tonight, but have opted to stay in and eat the left over Halloween sweets instead...... Will leave a couple for you Annette.

HepKestrel · 31/10/2016 22:35

Thanks all! Think I'm only able to run every third day at the moment. Have a lot on.

Xmasfairy86 · 31/10/2016 22:58

I've eaten lots of sweets Shock

Am meant to be running tomorrow but haven't got any of my stuff ready for work and only half the school stuff.....

EmpressOfTheSevenOceans · 02/11/2016 13:21

Hit 5K today. I think I'm going to run it a couple more times before I move onto the 10K training.

I would never have stuck to the programme without this thread so thank you FlowersFlowers.

There doesn't seem to be a 5-10K thread at the moment so I'll start one next week & see if people join in, but for now I'm going to stick around here & be encouraging if that's OK.
