Gather here parkrunners old and new. Tell us all about your running, volunteering, juniors, tourism, Cake and cows.

Old thread here for anyone interested.

We are probably the best thread on MN. All are welcome here whether you are brand new to parkrun or sporting your 500 shirt.

Meeeeee! #12.

FiftyNineOhEight · 24/02/2017 19:11

Not me this weekend. I am away for work with no parkrun but a colleague and I are hoping to go running at some point over the weekend.

Enjoy cinners and steffi

I've missed the last 3 weeks - can't wait to run tomorrow Smile

miked99 · 25/02/2017 03:19

It was the 200th run at our local parkrun this morning and my 50th.
Of course after weeks of good weather it bucketed down and a lot of the course was just puddles. Still over 150 people turned up for the - I think the promise of cup cakes at the end helped.
We were out late last night, so I was a bit below average, but my 9 year old who only had about 6 hours sleep managed under 21 minutes so he's already trying to justify it as a reason for having a later bed time on Fridays

Hope you all run well today

WarblingWail · 25/02/2017 11:14

It was cold and very wet today in the northwest! Glad I went though - next week will be my 10th parkrun. 😇🏃‍♀️ Can anyone recommend a very flat route in the northwest for me to try? I'm interested to see what times I could do on an easier route!

Lifeisabeach · 25/02/2017 11:34

Well done to you and your super speedy DS, miked99

Ran with DD today and she found it tough in the wind, so it was a slower one for us. She wore her 50 t shirt for the first time and got lots of lovely comments Smile

standingonlego · 25/02/2017 11:39

A wild windy parkrun in Northampton, looked like another record breaking attendance though. Lots of twigs, branches and a big fallen tree to avoid on our course today. I am running slower than ever....but keep turning up, it will get better soon I am sure.

Well done to everyone who ran today!

MyBlackCat · 25/02/2017 12:39

It was breezy in Melton mowbray today, but enjoyed being back at parkrun even if the time was nothing special Hmm

runningpink · 25/02/2017 15:05

Well our parkrun didn't quite go to plan today, it had to be cancelled. But not due to weather, or lack of volunteers as you might expect.
We had a car crash into one of the bridges and police had it cordoned off! It cleared so a few of us done a freedom run instead!

Well done to everyone who ran.

feetheart · 25/02/2017 17:10

runningpink - I saw the photo, rather a dramatic reason to cancel :o

After last week's emotions I really wanted to run today. Got to accompany my partner-in-running-crime on her 50th parkrun which was lovely. Weather wasn't too bad and we had 279 runners (which apart from last week is a record) so I'm contacting HQ and asking for a third scanner on Monday :)

cinnamongreyhound · 25/02/2017 21:07

Eeek dramatic runningpink!

Sounds lovely feetheart.

Well done standingonlego and MyBlackCat!

Sorry WarblingWail, I haven't run any in the north west. I did red car in the north east when on holiday there.

That's some going Miked99

We had our lowest attendance this year today with 92, which is a shame as we had a 50th and 100th so lots of cake! I tail ran with a 15yo who'd never run before and her dad told her she'd never do it as she sits on her bum too much. Well she did it and in under 45mins. Hopefully she'll come back, she was with a friend who is one of our rd's did so she's guaranteed a lift there most weeks. Stayed dry for us and quite mild, I ran minus dog as I know some people can be nervous so rather tail run alone having freaked out a little boy previously Blush

runningLou · 01/03/2017 14:18

Whereabouts in the north west are you WarblingWail? If you're near Manchester, Stretford and South Manchester are very flat - Stretford starts and ends on an athletics track so very speedy.
Last weekend I did Conwy in north Wales as a bit of tourism which was fantastic, and flat other than a ramp up and over a road bridge.

cinnamongreyhound · 02/03/2017 11:55

I'm not parkrunning tomorrow as I've got a hm Sunday. Not going at all as dh likes a lay in one day of the weekend and we're leaving at 7 Sunday!

Hope you all have a fab one Smile

Lifeisabeach · 02/03/2017 13:19

Good luck in your half, cinnamon!

We're planning to do our home run, but have a night out tomorrow so might have sore heads! Although I've been thinking I might not drink much to make sure I can do parkrun - I think I might actually love parkrun more than wine, how did that happen?!

MelanieCheeks · 02/03/2017 22:52

Off to Dublin this weekend, so a new parkrun for me!

I need a g'n't.

I mean, in my quest to run a parkrun beginning with each letter of the alphabet, I need a G and a T. So I reckon it'll be Tymon park.

MyBlackCat · 03/03/2017 19:16

I'm running with a friend tomorrow at a local parkrun, I'll be taking it easy as running a 10k at the same park on Sunday Confused

MelanieCheeks · 03/03/2017 22:32

Bit of harumph. Dh has asked if I would run marlay tomorrow, which I've already done. But one of his clients has just started park running and wants to meet me and my cow cowl! On the plus side, we get to travel there by Maserati.

miked99 · 04/03/2017 04:57

It's been raining all week so the park was waterlogged and a tree lost a big branch across the path so it was as much an obstacle course as a run this week.
I ran with a friend's son, so was able to take it easy until the last few hundred metres when he decided to sprint home and I had to try to keep up with him. We were so wet we all sat on shopping bags and picnic blankets in the car home

steffibabes · 04/03/2017 06:46

Enjoying reading this week's parkrun stories. Number 13 for me today. Last week got a course PB. This week feeling a bit rough with a tickly cough so will just enjoy it. Have lovely parkruns peeps.

FiftyNineOhEight · 04/03/2017 06:50

Morning all, I'm not parkrunning today but will go out for a run along the river a bit later. hope you all have lovely runs - and cinners and BlackCat hope the HM and 10K go well Smile

chutneypig · 04/03/2017 06:57

Enjoy the Maserati Melanie a definite compensation!

That's not the sunny report we've been used to miked, guess you get extremes of weather!

Hope the half goes well tomorrow cinnamon

Enjoy steffi

We're on a local wander today, the rest of them are running tomorrow so we're avoiding the hilly and fast local parkruns

feetheart · 04/03/2017 07:34

I'm running again today - first time I've run two weeks in a row at home! The plan to run twice a month this year is going well and should get to 50 by August.

Melanie - annoying but the Maserati will help I'm sure. You need to come over here and do Gadebridge and Tring :)

Good luck on the 10k and half marathons - I need to book a few things.
Right, need to wake DS and get moving.
Happy parkrunday people :)

MyBlackCat · 04/03/2017 10:41

Really enjoyed my run today, I ran with a friend who got an overall parkrun PB - the feeling is as good as a PB of my own Grin

Hope everyone enjoyed their runs x

MelanieCheeks · 04/03/2017 17:30

Bah, no Maserati, no new event, no missing alphabet letter and not even a PB! I didn't sleep well and am coming down with a cold, is my excuse.

But we will be back in Dublin quite frequently in coming months so all these things will come in good time.

FiftyNineOhEight · 05/03/2017 06:53

Morning everyone, great to read your run reports. Hope you are feeling better Melanie. Good that you are managing to run regularly feet.

Sounds like you had an adventurous run miked. Hope no 13 was lucky for you steffi. It's great to share in other people's success isn't it BlackCat.

Hope Sunday runs go well for chutneyfamily and cinners

I'm a bit sore today, I ran somewhere unfamiliar and ended up going further than I had planned (because I was enjoying myself), got lost and had some horrific hills to climb. All good training for my next parkrun Smile
