Gather here parkrunners old and new. Tell us all about your running, volunteering, juniors, tourism, Cake and cows.

Old thread here for anyone interested.

We are probably the best thread on MN. All are welcome here whether you are brand new to parkrun or sporting your 500 shirt.

Just totting up mine, in anticipation of tomorrow.

42 runs, of which 15 were at my home event, and 7 were at new events to me (bringing me to 35 on the Most Events table).

I ran my 150th just before Christmas, and volunteered 11 times this year, incl tomorrow, which will be #25.

I captured 4 Age Cat records, one of which has since been beaten. We shall see what tomorrow brings to find out how I end the year!

FiftyNineOhEight · 30/12/2016 17:52

No records for me Melanie Grin. Except perhaps slowest Grin

Well done, you've had a great year!

Ah I was thinking about joining you if you were doing Cambridge today fiftynineoheight but dh would rather I didn't parkrun Saturday and Sunday so I'm just doing the double nyd now anyway. I see what you mean about the fog and dodgy drivers!

How do you find all these stats? I've run 124 now so only 2.5 years constant running to my 250 t-shirt Wink

FiftyNineOhEight · 30/12/2016 22:33

cinners the stats are just by counting up the info they give you on your profile page which has all your results and volunteering stints listed.

I had a quick glance at yours to see if it looks the same as mine (not as stalker-y as that sounds, cinners and I know each other in RL) and noticed that you have done over 50 volunteer roles this year.

Which I think makes you Queen Of This Thread Flowers

New volunteer tops are in - just ordered mine Smile

I've a feeling this mornings run is going to be hard, been awake since 2. Typically I'm only starting to feel sleepy now. Hopefully I'll at least make it round this week. Weather is looking increasingly miserable for the double, hoping it blows over!

I'm just going to browse my stats now but I don't think they're as impressive as all yours!

standingonlego · 31/12/2016 10:18

100 milestone tops have just arrived too Smile

cinnamongreyhound · 31/12/2016 10:31

Not this year fiftynineoheight, I counted up from my profile and I've done 11 this year. I've done 59 since we started in 2013 so not too many!

FiftyNineOhEight · 31/12/2016 12:45

cinners maybe you did more than one job each time you volunteered? The bit of your profile I can see says that in 2016 you were RD x number of times, pre event set up x number of times, new runners briefing x number of times etc which adds up to over 50 jobs.

Yippee for tops Grin

We had a 100 and a 250 to celebrate today, and our second highest turnout (Christmas Eve was a little bit bigger). I ran at natter pace with my friend who was doing her 100th.

cinnamongreyhound · 31/12/2016 14:14

Ah yes when we rd we do pre and post set up, volunteer coordinator, new runners briefing and results processing, that'll be it Grin

FiftyNineOhEight · 31/12/2016 15:11

So there, you are QOTT SmileFlowers. Or, if you prefer, VQOTT Grin

Is anyone Doncaster way? DS1 has a sporting event there in Feb so I am wondering whether to run there that morning (will depend on what time his event starts).

MyBlackCat · 31/12/2016 15:15

I had a good run today, after struggling a couple of weeks ago I decided to take it steady, but the longer the run went on the better I felt. Did the final mile in 8:42 - I can still run Smile was 20s quicker than last run so that's a pbpb Grin just dipping under 30 mins.

Looks like a wet one tomorrow - good luck to those doing doubles x

standingonlego · 31/12/2016 16:48

We are away for NYE....How do you rate my chances of DH and friends letting me sneak out early to drive 35 mins to Lyme park for a 9am start tomorrow....Grin. Low ! Another time!

FiftyNineOhEight · 31/12/2016 17:38

Well done BlackCat that is brilliant Flowers

lego you could just do a runner in the morning Grin

Forgot to add that I forgot my bar code today Sad I have the wristband but in my rush to get out the house completely forgot it. Fortunately today's RD was very very nice and added me to the results along with a couple of others. I didn't ask or expect to be added so was really grateful. I've ran 36 times in 2016, my aim is to do my 100th run on NYD 2018 which is also my birthday. I have 32 to go - not sure if that is a bit optimistic with a newborn Shock

feetheart · 31/12/2016 19:25

59 - I am RD tomorrow at 9am then heading over to St Albans for cheering duties and brunch. I am packing DS off with other runners whilst i help pack up. You are more than welcome to join us for some or all of it :-)

FiftyNineOhEight · 31/12/2016 19:27

Thank you feet Smile

PB for me today by a massive 3 seconds Grin I may not be fast but I am consistent....
Aim for 2017 is to get in 25 parkruns (I work 4 in 10 Saturdays so won't manage more) and to get a sub-30 time.

chutneypig · 31/12/2016 20:04

I made it round, 3 minutes off my PB but at least I finished. Our photographer was there too so some great pics, he's amazing, far far better than some of the race professional one I've seen this year. Really enjoyed it too and there were so many youngsters there it was brilliant.

DH has just given me a card from the family to say thank you for organising all the runs this year and that I have the pick of the apricot range Grin. Decisions decision!

FiftyNineOhEight · 31/12/2016 20:17

Well done milo

What a lovely husband you have chutney. I really like my jacket, several people came up to me today to have a little feel of it Smile. I have been out four times in cold/wet/fog and it has kept me warm and dry each time.

I was feeling rough this morning so marshalled at a corner instead of running. I felt like a muppet clapping and cheering but I know it helps me when I'm struggling round so did it anyway. I ended up holding someone's outer layers and giving out a tissue so at least I felt useful :o I'm not running tomorrow but will drag the DC out of bed early to do the new runners' briefing on our way to church. The turnout today was fantastic so fingers crossed for a repeat!

Well done everyone on your achievements this year :)

feetheart · 31/12/2016 22:01

ThomasRichard - marshals DEFINITELY help everyone round - you may have felt like a muppet but you most certainly weren't. You just need a little more practice to feel comfortable in the role :-o

I got to run today and DS kindly ran with his dear old mum me. We had a very steady pace and clocked 31:26, I need to get back under 30 minutes in 2017.

Happy parkrun Eve again everyone and may your parkrunning dreams come true in 2017. Cheers Wine

feetheart · 31/12/2016 22:01

I meant :o

chutneypig · 01/01/2017 12:12

That's good to know Fifty-. DH had been thinking the jacket would be useful but wasn't sure about the sizing. Did you go for the same as your milestone tops?

I really needed the marshals today Thomas! I love the encouragement.

A very wet and chilly double done. Enjoyed the whole experience but bits were very hard, my legs are feeling it. Course record at the first run, the atmosphere was great.

Snap for me feet - didn't get anywhere near thirty today Grin.

Anyone else get out in the end today?

FiftyNineOhEight · 01/01/2017 13:18

Happy New Year!

I went to see feet and minifeet first, then went off-road at Tring. It was a tough but enjoyable course and I ran most of it with a nice lady who caught me up once we'd all walked up the massive hill.

I walked in to the smell of a chicken roasting in the oven. DH is in competition with MrChutney for the HOTT award.

chutney my jacket is a medium, the same as my 50 and 100 tops. it has room for layers underneath and the pockets are fab!
