Gather here parkrunners old and new. Tell us all about your running, volunteering, juniors, tourism, Cake and cows.

Old thread here for anyone interested.

We are probably the best thread on MN. All are welcome here whether you are brand new to parkrun or sporting your 500 shirt.

Love the cake Melanie

I'm trying and failing to imagine a hot parkrun at the moment miked, I also love seeing you all done before we've got up.

Well done MyBlackCat impressive stuff.

How was the tourism Fifty?

Local touring for us today and it was beautiful. Really enjoyed the run, not fast but lovely.

londonmummy1966 · 17/12/2016 17:58

Waves to everyone...

A couple of not so good weeks and I hit a new age category for the first time this weekend so I decided I didn't want to be too fast - leave myself for room to progress Grin
Decided not to run after the woman I've been using to pace myself recently and now kicking myself as she came in first in our age category and I usually finish ahead of her... Will run at home next Saturday and try to get my neighbour to come with me to tourist at Dulwich on Christmas Day (too far to walk)

Well done Miked99!

Well done MyBlackCat, I took ds3 with me just to say hello the first week after I had him and it was so lovely to feel part of it again, no idea how he's 20months now!!!

I was late again but not as late as last week, meant I ran on my own though, boo!

Lifeisabeach · 18/12/2016 20:25

cinnamon I have a 20 month old too..actually almost 21 months I've just realised!

DD(6) was flying yesterday and got so close to her PB. OH was also not far off his PB. DS was barcode scanning as he had a cross country race later in the morning; he did juniors today though.

Our parkrun isn't having a Christmas Day run, so I'm trying to convince everyone we should go to the nearest one that does - about 10 miles away. I think we'll do it, as long as the weather isn't too awful.

Our core team have booked some tables at a pub in town for people to go for breakfast after the run in xmas eve, so I'm looking forward to that already.

cinnamongreyhound · 18/12/2016 20:56

That's lovely lifeisabeach, we are providing refreshments at the finish as our country park is closed Christmas Eve, hoping for no rain! So want to run Christmas Day but my lot are not parkrunners so it's unlikely!

TriJo · 19/12/2016 21:00

I've been mostly buggy Parkrun-ing lately, so it was great this weekend when my husband was off work and able to take our son and I could give it a good go at Highbury Fields. Set a course PB of 26:02, my second fastest Parkrun ever and my fastest post baby one. Chuffed :)

GypsyFl0ss · 22/12/2016 15:46

I have managed to break my bloody foot in a pot hole whilst out on my first run with the local running club.! Didn't even make it out of the club car park. No running or even weightbearing for 6 weeks Sad

MelanieCheeks · 22/12/2016 18:45

Oh no Gypsy, what a shame!

GypsyFl0ss · 22/12/2016 19:06

I'm gutted. It's one way to get out of cooking Christmas dinner though!

FiftyNineOhEight · 22/12/2016 20:04

Gypsy you poor thing. Sending you lots of healing vibes Flowers

Thankyou both. The novelty of the crutches, hopping and going up and down stairs on my bum has worn off already. I'm just hanging on the thought that the more I rest it now then the better the fracture will heal . I'm a very impatient person at heart but I know if I want to avoid a recurring stress fracture there then I need to play the long game. It's just pants timing on so many levels.

chutneypig · 23/12/2016 03:33

Poor you Gypsy! How frustrating. Look after yourself and hold onto rest being best.

cinnamongreyhound · 23/12/2016 10:28

That's rubbish Gypsyfl0ss! I broke mine 4 years ago, was lucky to be out of a cast in 2 weeks and then had a boot for a few and was running 8 weeks after breaking it. The hopping drove me mad and the crutches killed my hands!!! Hope you can still have a lovely Christmas.

GypsyFl0ss · 23/12/2016 11:00

That's given me a bit of hope cinnamon! I've got a fracture clinic appt in 2 weeks so perhaps if it's healing well I might be allowed into a boot sooner.

MelanieCheeks · 24/12/2016 20:12

On the first day of Christmas my parkrun gave to me, a full set of Ni parkruns!

Rostrevor done, and another age cat record to add to my collection. It's a gorgeous course with views of forest and sea, and runs beside a fairy glen and through a Narnia trail.

Blog to follow!

Lifeisabeach · 24/12/2016 21:46

Oh no Gypsy, what a nightmare! Hope your foot heals quickly.

Well done Melanie!

DS and I did pre-event set up today so got to the course early, and OH brought DD later. They arrived and then realised DD had got her blimmin school shoes on, so had to rush home to get trainers and only just made it for the start.

OH also didn't make sure DD was layered up and it was really cold and windy, so she was freezing and moaning for the first half of the run. So not a quick one for us today. Lots of us regulars went for breakfast afterwards which was nice.

So that was parkrun number 49 for me. Our home run isn't on tomorrow but there is one at our next nearest. So I could get number 50 tomorrow, but it won't be at home. We're going to see how the present-opening is going and make a decision in the morning about whether to go.

Merry Christmas parkrunners!

miked99 · 24/12/2016 23:09

Merry Christmas everyone
Gypsy what an awful thing to happen, hope you are on the mend soon and everyone is helping out at home.
Just back from our Christmas Day Parkrun, where it was in the low 20s at 7am and even hotter for people in santa hats and coats, but there were ice lollies at the end to compensate.
2 runs in 2 days was hard for me and I ache now, but everyone is in good spirits and looking forward to feeling virtuous when we tuck into lunch.
Have a great Christmas and New Year everyone

GypsyFl0ss · 25/12/2016 06:33
