Day 1 of 30 Day Shred - anyone care to join in?

I've read a lot about it on here, so thought I'd give it a go.

FYI, I'm late 40s, walk a lot but do bugger all else exercise-wise.

So I did the first 30 Day Shred this morning, and could pretty much follow it, although had to tone it down once or twice. I felt fine afterwards so then did the Davina Fit in 15 cardio workout too. And now I'm beginning to feel it! I'm going to ache tomorrow, aren't I??

I'm going to try to do the Shred every day, and the cardio every other day. Would anyone else like to pal up for mutual support? I've got just under 4 weeks until my holiday, so I'd like to see an improvement in my weight/toned-ness by then.

I will! I'm late 30s and quite dismayed with how I'm looking in photos and I also have about a month til my holiday.

I've been for a walk/run (mainly walk) around the park today. So that's 2 miles done. Didn't seem a lot, but the toddler was getting fractious and I suppose it's better than nothing. Grin

I'm going to try to do day 1 later when she has a nap. Fingers crossed. I think I need to do something every day, I know when I stop, I take ages to start again.

Let's do this! We can do this! Grin

Thanks Fran. I've done it for the second time today and managed to do something to my back! So I think I should give it a day or two to mend (hopefully just a pulled muscle). So should be back on track on Thursday or Friday.Smile

I'm in! (Well not till Saturday because I need to be able to walk straight Friday and Saturday at people's weddings) but will begin Saturday afternoon.

Oh no, what a shame Eastern. 😦 Hope that gets better quickly.

Don't blame you waiting ICanSee. 😁 I've only ever got to day 4 and the muscle soreness has put me right off.

I've just done a bit of a half arsed day 1. I've remembered I hate the squats and lunges with a passion. I also need a new bra and I couldn't punch my way out of a paper bag. Still. Better than nothing.

I was encouraged to find I can do a bit more of a sit up than I could last time I tried post c section. So that's heartening. The massive belly I get a close up on in that position is however, not. 😂

I might alternate with my Jessica Smith dvds, which I have to say I much prefer. I just want all this weight gone and I know I have to be patient and work hard. Easier said than done!

I'm in too. Just back from the gym but would prefer not spending the money. Unfortunately I can't run except on a machine so can't go for a lovely 'free' run outside.

I'll do it tomorrow for the first night. Need the results in 15 days rather than 30 though Hmm -
Would I be crazy to start on level 2?

Are you very fit anyway? Going in on level 2 sounds hardcore. 😁

I am really sore after yesterday and couldn't get the dvd in, but I did manage 10000 steps.

Fran - not very fit no. But I am getting there. I can now run for 10 mins without stopping. I used to love running but had to stop after getting pregnant as my hips just gave up on me - I've recently discovered that there is less impact on a treadmill but it's so boring looking at the same thing and not getting anywhere.

I do an advanced pilates class once per week.

So not fit but getting there.

Ok so tonight I'll do level 1 and see how I get on.

Where are you at Fran?

I really could not get on with the shred, I killed my knees with it.
I am now on day 4 of shred for beginners, much nicer, you still feel it the next day, but not as bad!

I'm very much struggling to fitness. Total beginner really whothe. Had spd and c section in last pregnancy and only just feeling OK 20 months on. I have about 2 stone to lose at a guess.

I'm still sore today. I don't think the cool downs on the shred are brilliant. I feel a hey when I do the Jessica Smith dvds, but not painful like with The Shred. Going to try and get another workout in today. I have the Beginner Shred dvd somewhere. I could do that. I'd forgotten about that 8fencingwire until you said! 👍

Spd/ pelvic girdle pain is a bitch! And can take a while to get over. I find pilates great for getting core strength back and reducing the pain.

I have just over 4kg to get to my first goal and then another 4kg after that to get to my actual goal! But my overall goal is to get fit and healthy.

Well done 8fencing on day 4.

I'll let you know how I get on tonight.

It is a right bitch! Good luck tonight. I think I should give Pilates a whirl, but I'd probably be better off venturing into a real life class situation for that, wouldn't I?

Day 4 is brilliant 8fencing. I don't think I've ever made it past day 4. 😯

Well I've had a go at my old Rosemary Conley DVD today and my back is still giving me a lot of pain. Can't believe it, just when I was really up for it. May go for a swim tomorrow instead. Well done everyone so far. Hope to be back with you soon

Oh no Eastern. So annoying to have a setback when you were on a roll. Take it easy.

Eastern so sorry to hear that and I hope you get better soon.

I've just finished day 1. May do an abs tomorrow as I've just critically looked at my mummy tummy and am not happy. We'll see how I feel tomorrow.

Fran - a good teacher is important to give you correct positioning. I had a great teacher who was very hands on and corrected positions all the time by just moving you slightly into the right position. She was great.

Or orangina and wobblywonderwoman welcome on board!

8fencing - well done on day 4.

I'm not sore today after finishing day 1 yesterday. I did find it tough doing it, I was sweating and out of breath, but my muscles aren't sore today. Might follow it up with an abs video tonight.

I'm still sore. 😣 I'm not sure this week is going to go well. I've got 20 kids coming for a birthday party and I'm thinking 'wtaf Fran? What possessed you?'. The ridiculous cleaning I'm going to have to do must be good for burning a couple of extra calories. Hello to the new shredders.

Top tip on the Pilates class, thank you. I'll have to look into one I can get to.

Day 1 done! Already feeling jellyfish in the legs. And am remembering from the last time I tried the Shred how very unforgiving the jumping jacks are on the pelvic floor Blush....

Onwards and upwards!

(jellyfish should of course read jelly-ish.....)

fran, take it easy, hope you get back on it soon.
who, how did it go?
orangina, well done!

Day 5 done! My MFP says I'll be 65.4kg in 5 weeks if I keep going like I am. I'd be very chuffed, but I am doubtful.

Ooh, I was just going to start a thread asking where all the Shredders had gone! There were loads of threads when I did 30DS all the way through (probably nearly two years ago now) but now it's all running on here.

I pretty much stopped all exercise when I started work, but have recently started getting back into it, running once a week and doing various Jillian DVDs. I started with 30DS L1 and it always amazes me how much I hurt the next day after starting that, even though it doesn't seem that bad at the time. I hate running but did find that it helped with the initial muscle aches. Epsom bath salts might be useful as well if you have time to soak for a bit after working out.

I'm now stupidly doing the One Week Shred for the first time, in a desperate attempt to shrink before a wedding next weekend...today is day 4 and I am trying to motivate myself to do the morning strength workout, but it's so cosy and peaceful here listening to the rain outside, still in my PJs....I'm not sure I'm ready to break the quiet with being shouted at by Jillian Grin
