Day 1 of 30 Day Shred - anyone care to join in?

I've read a lot about it on here, so thought I'd give it a go.

FYI, I'm late 40s, walk a lot but do bugger all else exercise-wise.

So I did the first 30 Day Shred this morning, and could pretty much follow it, although had to tone it down once or twice. I felt fine afterwards so then did the Davina Fit in 15 cardio workout too. And now I'm beginning to feel it! I'm going to ache tomorrow, aren't I??

I'm going to try to do the Shred every day, and the cardio every other day. Would anyone else like to pal up for mutual support? I've got just under 4 weeks until my holiday, so I'd like to see an improvement in my weight/toned-ness by then.

Have done it now, and so feel much better :) Halfway through the One-Week Shred! I have had a look at Beginners on youtube, definitely some of the same/very similar moves as the one-week shred, is it just lower impact? One thing I don't enjoy about Jillian is all the plank type moves, especially since breaking my wrist last year, I find it quite hard going if there's several in quick succession.

orangina · 09/07/2016 19:19

Ok, have done day 2 of the Shred, still on Level 1 obviously (though my 9yo ds was not impressed that I wasn't tackling level 2 immediately...). DID NOT WANT TO, but I feel ok having done it. Sore, but there we are....

orangina · 10/07/2016 22:47

Day 3 done too! Where is everyone? I am here to be a keen cheerleader to you all!

8FencingWire · 11/07/2016 07:12

I did day 6 yesterday, in a moment I'll go tackle day 7!!! Got a long way to go, but I swear I can feel the difference around my middle.
deli, it's definitely very little impact in this one. Try it.
orangina, good luck for today!

DeliciousIrony · 11/07/2016 07:29

Well done both of you Smile

Done day 6 (morning workout) of 1WS...I don't know if it's because it's Monday morning but I am starting to feel fairly fatigued with this one, but can't stop now! Just 3 workouts to go, and I shall be shredded Wink

8FencingWire · 11/07/2016 18:31

Day 7 tackled! MFP keeps saying I'll be 65 kg in 5 weeks. I'm still 70!

whothefuckhas5children · 11/07/2016 21:12

Well done everyone. I took a break for the weekend and am back today. Just completed day 2, level 1. Tomorrow I have my pilates class so will skip the shred and do that instead so will be back on Wednesday.

What size weights are you all using? I have a set of 2kg that I'm using.

You're all doing great on day 5. 6 and 7!! I'll never catch up.

orangina · 11/07/2016 22:06

Well done everyone! I did a pilates class today so have skipped The Shred... will get back to it tomorrow. Pilates was HARDCORE and definitely more work than the Abs bit of the Shred.....

(I'll feel it tomorrow....)

zippyswife · 11/07/2016 22:36

Just popped on to say I did the shred (I did the 30 days twice without a break) and it completely transformed my body and lost 2 stone in the 60 days. I can't say enough good things about it. It has given me so much energy, I feel younger, fitter and so much better (from a size 16 to a size 10) and I feel so strong!! Stick with it. It's done absolute wonders for my
Mind and body! (I'm nearly 40 And have just had dc3- I've never been fit so if I can do it anyone can!). Good luck.

whothefuckhas5children · 12/07/2016 08:41

Orangina - it's great isn't it? I get nothing from the abs in shred and love the hour of pilates for core strength.

Zippy - thanks for that. Just what I needed to keep motivated! Well done, that's amazing!

FranHastings · 12/07/2016 11:01

Zippyswife, that is inspirational. I'm writing off this week as I just don't have the time. Will start again next Monday.

DeliciousIrony · 12/07/2016 13:47

Inspirational Zippy! I am impressed that you did it for 60 days straight with no break, that is hardcore.

whothefuck I use 2kg, working my way up to 3kg for some moves in various DVDs Smile

Decided to have a rest day today as I feel knackered, and had an early start for work this morning...feel strangely guilty about it! Last day of 1WS tomorrow. I definitely feel better for it already, have been trying on dresses for a wedding on Saturday and my stomach feels a lot less bloated.

zippyswife · 12/07/2016 18:43

Well done all of you! You will be so surprised at how quickly your fitness improves!

8FencingWire · 12/07/2016 20:30

Day 8 done.
I'm dreading level 2, she's not going to be nice, is she?

DeliciousIrony · 12/07/2016 20:55

Level 2 is a bit of a step up, definitely gets you sweaty. I think 2 is harder than 3 tbh, but maybe that's just a sign of how well level 2 prepares you.

whothefuckhas5children · 13/07/2016 07:32

I think I'll do 2 tonight. Am a bit bored by 1 short attention span

Really enjoyed Pilates last night and pushed myself to do the harder modifications. I can really see a difference in my strength from when I started again 3 months ago.

whothefuckhas5children · 13/07/2016 07:33

delicious I'm using 2kg too I hate them

8FencingWire · 13/07/2016 21:05

Day 9 done.
2kg!!!! I am using 0.5kgGrin
I do have a bad shoulder, mindGrin

DeliciousIrony · 13/07/2016 21:50

Nearly onto Level 2 8Fencing, aren't you excited Wink

I like the sound of Pilates, I'm a bit of a wimp though and think I'd feel intimated going to any exercise class...Jillian works for me for now as it's nice and private so nobody can see my more ungainly moves! Should perhaps branch out a bit though.

FINISHED One Week Shred today (well, across 8 days, but still)...Grin Not taking any measurements yet though, I'm trying to keep up the exercise momentum and see if it's paid off on Saturday, before this wedding. I'm bloody glad to have finished it, I think my stamina did improve but a couple of the moves are still beyond me (one-armed burpees...yeah right).

whothefuckhas5children · 14/07/2016 22:31

Well done delicious!
Good luck on level 2 8fencing

I've just finished day 1 level 2. It's a good step up and I definitely felt it more but I felt that it challenges me where the other one didn't. So I might alternate level 1 and 2 for a few days.

8FencingWire · 15/07/2016 07:56

I did day 10 yesterday.
So, today is the day 1 of level 2, who, I am on your steps!
delicious, one arm burpeeShock noooo, I can't even do press ups!!!

whothefuckhas5children · 15/07/2016 08:51

(I didn't do 10 days at level 1!)

orangina · 16/07/2016 19:23

Still on level 1, but finding it easier than before, so SOMETHING is working....! May try level 2 this coming week....

[Mind you, I CANNOT do a press up, not even the modified version..... I do the SUPER MODIFIED on-all-fours version, which is slightly shameful.....]

Onwards and upwards everyone and well done those who have moved up a stage!

superbaghag · 16/07/2016 19:26

have been shredding for a month and am finding level 1 doable but still cant do a full press up. Do you think I should stay on level 1 until I master the 2 30 second bursts of full press ups or move on to level 2?

orangina · 16/07/2016 19:50

I would definitely move onto workout 2..... a month on workout 1 will be really dull!
