Happy 2016 everyone!

If your new year's resolutions include more exercise, come and join our little band of (almost) daily exercisers. The idea is loosely based on Juneathon, and you do some form of exercise most days each week (we take rest days too). The exercise can be whatever you like, swimming, running, DVD/ gym classes, yoga, stretching, etc, but we post here to keep motivated and encourage each other.

Our previous threads are Octoberathon and Juneathon

I'm planning to get out for a short run later today, fingers crossed it stops raining at some point!

Hello everyone (welcome dancing - always nice to have someone new joining us).

My motivation is back - at least for today. This evening I did 30DS L2D3 & 6W6P L1D7.

I also managed to get away from my desk for a brisk (and somewhat chilly) 20 min walk this afternoon. Although this was more to help me focus than for any other reason.

Evening all

Well i did approx 1hour "wandering" whilst babywearing. That counts doesnt it? Plus another 45 minutes faster pace pram walking that included a few hilly bits.

I feel a snottery cold coming on though which is quite upsetting. Hoping it comes to nothing,

Very envious of everyones motivation! Wish i had some Sad

KanyesVest · 19/01/2016 13:53

I'd certainly be counting that much baby wearing, comeagain! Hope you're feeling a bit better today and the cold doesn't get its clutches into you.

I'm in so much pain today. I was at boot camp last night (no time for running there and back, thank god) and it was tough. Not sure what I'll manage today as a result, plus dh won't be home til after 10, so might be a rest day.

Walked to and from work today. Total of 1 1/2 hours. Walk it app says it was almost 10 000 steps. It was gorgeous too - all frosty and sparkly.

comeagain 45 minutes hilly pram pushing and 1 hour weight bearing slow walking is good! Sounds like motivation to me.

DancingDuck · 19/01/2016 14:26

Reading this thread is inspiring me to get out my old Jillian DVDs...

PurpleThermalsNowItsWinter · 19/01/2016 14:35

45 min walk today and that's my lot. Will finish on a 'must do better' note. Maybe I'll challenge the DC to beat me holding some yoga poses tonight followed by some balloon tennis after their clubs finish.

SerendipityDooDah · 19/01/2016 15:40

Survived another 30DS L2 last night, though I discovered that it's just about impossible to do in a flat with wooden floors without being quite unsociable to one's neighbours. They must have thought I was setting off firecrackers during the high knees and jumping jacks. Might have to reserve Jillian for weekends (I work away Monday to Thursday and stay in a creaky-floored abode on those days). Any excuse to do fewer of those squat thrusts is fine by me anyway!

Lunchtime jog today in the beautiful sunshine. Truth be told, I was feeling quite sluggish this morning and wouldn't have gone if I hadn't known I would have to fess up to my laziness on here. This is either proof that this thread is having a very positive and motivational effect or proof that I'm a sad sack who's still prone to peer pressure well into her 40s. I'm going with option A, needless to say. Grin

Inspired by all the counting, I totted up my numbers just now and think I'm at 16/284.

blodynmawr · 19/01/2016 19:31

Still daily 2 x 20 min JM KBFF here Smile.
Tried JM Yoga Meltdown on Sunday for a change but could not get into it. The desert/sunglasses thing didn't appeal either as I found it somehow quite off-putting not being able to see their eyes! I have resolved to try other JM DVDs on weekends, for a change, and might resurrect my old favourites NMTZ or BFBM next.....
Well done everyone for keeping up their routines and welcome Dancing Smile.

OublietteBravo · 19/01/2016 20:59

I was motivated to exercise this evening because I was absolutely freezing having hung around waiting for DS to get back from his swimming match (they were 25 mins late). I did NMTZ for a bit of a change.

KanyesVest · 19/01/2016 21:21

So much for my rest day! It was lovely here so I ended walking 6km.

Hope you're warm Oubliette!

Thanks Kanyes - I'm pleased to report I'm nice and warm now (NMTZ followed by shower followed by lighting the wood burner).

KanyesVest · 20/01/2016 12:29

More pain at boot camp this morning, too many press ups!

DD is very excited about cave kids after school Smile

Yoga today. Missed yesterday - plain old cba. There was period pain, biscuits and chocolate involved so had to make an effort today if I want to look toned for summer! Off to my volunteer mentor post now.

DancingDuck · 20/01/2016 13:56

Walked for an hour this morning. Only 6,500 steps so will need to do more before tonight.

blodynmawr · 20/01/2016 19:04

2 x 20 min KBFF today plus weights for the first 20 min.
I can identify with the cba mode purple as it was so arctic first thing this morning finding motivation to get out from under the cosy flannelette was very hard.
Well done everyone outdoor exercising in this weather! Flowers

OublietteBravo · 20/01/2016 20:01

Back to my normal DVDs this evening: 30DS L2D4 & 6W6P L2D7

My motivation is holding up pretty well this week.

DancingDuck · 20/01/2016 20:40

Managed to do those last 3.5k steps to do the 10k steps for today. not exactly hard core Jillian but an improvement on Christmas slump.

velmadinkly · 21/01/2016 11:04

Welcome Dancing

Well done to those of you that have found some motivation. I think I peaked with the 12000 steps and I didn't even achieve my garmin target on Saturday or Sunday and was settled at about 5500 on both days. I was bloody starving as well, so I don't know if exercise limits my hunger?

Anyway, after my lazy weekend I did Davina on monday and tuesday and achieved my step target. I didn't do any exercise yesterday except my cycling too and from work and I didn't achieve my step target. It's a bit difficult at the moment because I'm busing marking reports so no real room for walking around. I also did davina again this morning and will do it again tomorrow morning. I'm working from home today so I'll be able to go for a jaunt around the block In a bit to up my steps.

I just to keep telling myself I need the exercise to counteract all the sitting around marking, roll on when teaching restarts. I've also got a bit of a target in that I will be booking to go away abroad for a week for May half term with my Dad and DD in the next few days, so I want to look nice(r) in my cossie. Neither my Dad or DD will care what I look like and I don't to a certain extent, but still it's good to have a target to develop a bit of motivation to continue exercising and eating well.

Right I'd better get back to the assignment that is half marked, but after i've jogged up and down the stairs a few times! Grin

DancingDuck · 21/01/2016 12:38

Hill walk first thing this morning. About 3k in total.

blodynmawr · 21/01/2016 20:44

Only 1 x 20 min KBFF today but main mitigation is that it is my birthday today Grin. Twenty one yeah right Grin.

SerendipityDooDah · 21/01/2016 21:37

Happy birthday, blodynmawr!

Had a rest day yesterday followed by 7.5k walking and some upper body strength today. 17/283.

KanyesVest · 21/01/2016 21:39

Happy birthdayblody! Hope you're having a lovely day Cake

I'm having a rest day. I was in ikea today but took a disappointing number of steps.

Happy birthday blodynmawr Cake

I did NMTZ this evening (I was fitting exercise in between work and choir, so didn't have time for a longer session).

(19/281).

velmadinkly · 22/01/2016 15:36

Happy birthday for yesterday blody

No davina today, but I did the leslie sansone 2 mile strong walk at home routine this morning along with walking to town. As of now I've walked over 10, 000 steps

The leslie sansone routines are available on YouTube, so if you don't fancy doing anything too energetic, but something that does raise the heart rate (mine peaked at 140bpm during the routine and averaged at 116bpm), then I can recommend them. You also don't need alot of room to do them in.

OublietteBravo · 22/01/2016 19:11

I finished off my week with 30DS L2D5 & 6W6P L1D8.

I'm taking a rest day tomorrow - back on Sunday.
