New thread for an (almost) new year, and almost exactly a year since the start of the original thread!

Lots of good chat going on - can also recommend P90X if you don't like cardio.

Just popping in to say I did Barry's yesterday and now can't walk. Am supposed to be doing 16 miles on Friday - I can barely get up the stairs at the mo!

Purpleraindeer · 10/02/2016 21:29

Isn't being barely able to get up the stairs the normal aftermath of Barry's boobz? I waddled like a duck for 2 days after I did it!

Sweat intervals done. My shoulder ached. My knee twinged. I was crawling by the end. Rest day tomorrow Grin

Caitlin - I don't use supplements but for no reason other than in my head they're for proper weightlifters so I'd feel like a fraud. According to thinner leaner stronger they're key to getting enough protein.

wanderingwondering · 10/02/2016 22:39

Barry's sounds good!
It's just taken me all evening to motivate myself to do Jillian. Glad I've done it but ugh!
Got a place in the Great North run today which is exciting but a week after the ultra I'd booked onto so need to make a choice.

Boobz · 11/02/2016 17:02

16 miles done with very achy Barry's thighs. 2:19 - pooped.

EleanorAbernathy · 11/02/2016 23:39

Max:30 Tabata Power done - I enjoy these workouts much more if I don't think about "Maxing Out" and just get on with it the best I can.

Plus I'm carrying on with the weights from the Body Coach training and today was leg day - so 100 squats with a big fuck off dumbbell, and 200 barbell lunges (a hundred each side). And 8 30 second sprints on the treadmill just to make sure my legs are completely dead.

I keep having Hammer and Chisel wobbles - someone has just finished it in the Facebook group I'm in and looks amazing. Then I'll go and read the Amazon reviews again and decide against it (especially the one saying it's dangerous - I'm a bit clumsy!).

Caitlin - I sometimes have a protein shake after a workout if I think I've worked hard enough! I had one today. I also started using BCAA powder when I first started doing weights, but it tastes horrible and I didn't really notice any difference when I stopped it so I don't bother with it now.

Purpleraindeer · 12/02/2016 06:44

Eleanor - that is one hell of a workout! Shock. no way I could have done weights after tabata power. I'm always shattered after those power jumps at the end.
If I can break the Friday indolence I will do tabata strength later. Press up-tastic!

Purpleraindeer · 12/02/2016 06:45

Boobz - good work on that run. Maybe it's time for an ice bath for those legs....or maybe not?!

yumyumpoppycat · 12/02/2016 23:38

Well done on run with Barry thighs Boobz!

Eleanore you sound very hardcore with the weights - well done!

I did jillian level 2 yest bit my weights were too heavy for some of it Blush MMX today, I love it so much (bar some of the crazier sprawl combos!!)

Wanderingwondering · 12/02/2016 23:47

Dh is away so I did Jillian cardio for month 2 of body revolution instead of running. It was quite good but might add some weights next time to make it a bit more tough!

Someone was asking about trainers-I've always just done the workouts with bare feet-I started mainly because it was quieter and better for my carpet!

caitlinohara · 14/02/2016 12:48

Well, P90x3 arrived and I am scared! Looks incredibly complicated. Had a look at the Fit Test and decided that I didn't stand a chance, so rather than humiliate myself I have decided to do a couple of weeks of T25 Abs, Lower and Upper and Total Body Circuit just to get back into the swing of things before I tackle it. Should give me time to work out what extra equipment I might need as well. On the plus side, it looks a lot slower paced than T25.

Eleanor I know what you mean about Hammer & Chisel, I thought it looked really good as well but the Amazon reviews put me off. Do Beachbody do a money back guarantee on it like the others? You could always try it and send it back if it's crap.

yumyumpoppycat · 14/02/2016 18:22

Wandering I love it when I am doing kettlebells or yoga and can do them barefoot, so much quicker than finding socks and trainers!

Caitlin don't be put off, the workouts are honestly not that bad once you have done them a couple of times. I can do the lean schedule next week with you, let's just leave out the first workout of week 1 which is weights etc? The warrior is tough but I think there are a couple of similar workouts in T25 {brain like a sieve}

Purpleraindeer · 14/02/2016 19:34

Hi Caitlin - I was going to say the same thing as poppy. It's not as bad as all that. Give it a go. Anyway, if you're unfit at the start then imagine how much improvement you'll show by the endSmile. I'm on a p90x3 week next week so let's all do it together.

Did tabata strength and then Friday fight to finish max30 week this week. I'm alternating weeks so it's taking ages, but I've only got 1 more week of month 1. I've got month 2 fear!

Have a good eve all! Not an enormously romantic day here today. Both DH and I had to sign our cards to each other in crayon as there were no biros. That's a sign of having young kids if ever I saw one....

yumyumpoppycat · 15/02/2016 11:36

Purple you did better than us ...I hadn't even realised it was valentines day!

Warrior done today. I did elevator pushups on my knees so I could do the levels more defined but still mega burney. Also for the rocking boat I had my hands on my thighs part of the time for support just letting go as much as I could.

Needabiscuit · 16/02/2016 08:28

I have been following this thread, amazed at all you doing so well, it's been such a good motivator for me,
But I do need to ask, I found out this morning I'm 3+ weeks preggars, and would like to know if you think I can still carry on with T25??
I'm still on alpha, week 4,
Do you think I can follow Tanya more,
I know I should ask the docs, but just wanted a quick response, because I'm not seeing the doc until tomorrow,
TIA

Purpleraindeer · 16/02/2016 12:59

Hi needabiscuit - congratulations! Flowers
I thought the advice in pregnancy was that you can continue at the level of activity that you're used to so if you're doing t25 now it should be ok. They do tell you be careful about overheating so might be better to drop the intensity a bit? Having said that, I stopped all exercise when I was pregnant as I felt too awful from morning sickness.

Needless to say - I'm no midwife or doctor so on this one it might be better to listen to the professionals

yumyumpoppycat · 16/02/2016 14:01

Congrats biscuit how lovely {I am not broody at all here ;) } maybe skip the jumping jacks and do half jacks, pushups on your knees etc, so generally following Tanya. An old work friend of mine didn't find out she was pregnant until 5 months, and had been cycling to work eating all sorts and was fine. The funny thing was once she realised she was pregnant and announced it her bump suddenly popped out and she looked clearly pregnant. Really not sure where I am going with this story Hmm but congrats and Purple's advice is good!

Actually this is worth a read www.nhs.uk/Conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/pages/pregnancy-exercise.aspx "Exercise is not dangerous for your baby – there is some evidence that active women are less likely to experience problems in later pregnancy and labour"

Needabiscuit · 16/02/2016 16:38

Thanks Poppy and Purple,
**
I'v read the link you provided, so going to continue at the pace I am now, and thank god for Tanya!! Haha

I put on sooo much weight with my child, I don't want to become mahoosive again, so hoping to eat better this time, and train more to avoid saggybummous again!!Hmm

It's been great to hear about what can be done with sheer determination, il still be around for the motivationSmile

Purpleraindeer · 16/02/2016 20:45

Ahem - the lack of exercise in my first pregnancy might just explain my general roundness during and afterwards. Saw some photos of me when I was in between pregnancies and they were not pretty!

Did warrior tonight. I got confused between what was 2nd floor and top floor! Stupid Americans with no ground floor.... Managed to keep pace with Tony in the burn out though so v happy with that!

Did you work out tonight poppy? Caitlin - did you start p90x3 - hope you're getting on ok

Hardcore high fives to everyone else! Smile

yumyumpoppycat · 16/02/2016 22:27

Well done purple, amazing you kept up with burnout Shock and Tony hadn't ust done a full workout! those elevator push ups are evil, so is level 1 on the ground Confused I did X3 Yoga, I like the beginning, felt genuinely sick in the middle (low blood pressure I guess), but enjoyed the last 10 minutes, and in particular lying down the last minute! CVX next for me, prob Thu, love cvx, caitlin you could defo try CVX or if something totally weight free is more your thing then MMX, I love it almost as much as speed 2.0, its only suckey hard towards the end.

Defo hang out here biscuit, {plumps comfy cushions} T25 is brill I am planning to add some of that in with p90x3 . Plus if you want a good place to hang out diet wise try the fasting section, not to do actual fasting but Big Choc on that topic is really knowledgeable about the mediterranean diet and a non calorie counting version of that should defo be ok in pg.

Needabiscuit · 18/02/2016 08:22

I done cardio yesterday, and maybe because I found out about "bump" it was a lot tougher than usual!Angry
Maybe it's in my head, or the fact I didn't have coffee to give me a boost!
But am determined to continue, thanks for the encouragement, I'm gonna need it

Boobz · 18/02/2016 13:25

Congrats Needabiscuit!

Happy belated Valentines to all.

Am just back from 5 day skiing trip where I managed to fit 2 x Insanities in. Am going for an 8 mile run this arvo and then 12 miles on Sat before going skiing again (this time with kids) on Sunday for a week. I ate and drank absolute crap on this past ski trip so am trying to get back into the healthy regime again (but it was fun for a blow out). I am supposed to be running 18 miles a week on Friday but we'll be in the mountains! And as soon as that trip is over I am flying to the States for a 4 day conference - god knows when I am supposed to fit Insanity and all these training runs in... starting running at about 4am by the looks of it!

Less than 8 weeks until the Rome marathon and 10 until Toughest! Argh!

Purpleraindeer · 18/02/2016 20:23

Good for you biscuit! I wished I had exercised a bit in pregnancy. My second pregnancy I put on no weight at all (gestational diabetes so v restricted diet) and I felt a lot better than I did first time round.

I wondered where you had got to boobz. I'm so jealous of your skiing. I guess it's a bit easier to go when you're based in Rome. Who cares about the diet? Skiing wouldn't be skiing if there was no cake and cheese! Am sure the jet lag after you arrive in the US will help you get up for a run. 18m before work might be pretty challenging tho Shock

Did accelerator tonight. Really like that one. But donkey kicks?! Holy crap. Missed last night as have got a snotty horrid cold. Day off work tomorrow so it had better go by then!

yumyumpoppycat · 18/02/2016 21:56

Well done on giving up coffee Biscuit, giving up all the different foods and drinks in pg is a bummer, funnily I am a major tea and coffee drinker but found with ds coffee made me nauseous but with the girls I went off tea instead. My second birth was like Purple's, I didn't have GD but 1st (DS) was 9lb 4 and v long so shoulders got stuck in labour, I was a lot more careful with what I ate and kept off the sofa 2nd time round and labour etc was all much better.

Boobz you are a dynamo - just reading that makes me feel jetlagged. Apparently skiing uses zillions of calories so you are fine!

Purple good work on accelerator, I did cvx with much lighter weights today and managed to use them throughout, hoorah. Had a night out with dp yest went to see the book of mormons, which was good but not what we were expecting based on all the reviews, it was bizarre really as it was quite funny but the audience were in a state of hysteria. Still a fun night though.

Boobz · 19/02/2016 15:10

I saw Book of Mormon a couple of years ago and it is a bit of a shock to the system!

I don't really think of skiing as exercise - even the off piste stuff is still really only gravity - I am never sweaty at the end of it, so I always feel guilty for ski holidays - no time to properly exercise but so much over-eating! At least this week we are only going as a family so no drinking all night long episodes!

What is Accelerator from - P90X or Man Insanity?

Did my 9 miles today - surprisingly easy given I haven't run for a week. I think these long runs are really improving my overall fitness - I love just being able to go out and run 10 miles and it doesn't even get my that out of breath. Really no idea how/when I am going to get this 18 mile run in next week though - hmmmm.

yumyumpoppycat · 19/02/2016 16:23

Wow amazing that you don't get that out of breath doing ten miles Boobz, I find running really hard must be amazing to glide along without going beetroot and sounding like a steam train Envy . Skiing sounds lovely too, only went once with school and found I liked the hot choc best of all ;) . Accelerator is p90x3.

I did good old speed 2.0 from T25 today, think its isometrix tomorrow for me.
