This weekend, did Insanity Max 30: Cardio Challenge for the third time, and my maxout time has only slightly improved (from 8:32 to 10:32), but I'll take it, given that TOTM aways wipes me out a bit. Definitely noticing an improvement in endurance despite only doing this maybe 4 times a week. So much fun and Shaun T is insanely likeable in this- less soothing/patronising than in t25, but nicer than Insanity! But those in and out abs with the shoulder taps- I just burst out laughing, because I CANNOT do them, i.e. jump the feet back and raise the arm at the same time. So it's all a bit jerky and comical. Shaun T also gets a bit campy a couple of times- as when he trills, "Suicide burpeeeees!", and I LOVE that.
Also did Bodyshred Workout 4, which is much better/harder cardio-wise than Workout 3 (the only non-floor-based plyometrics move was an easier version of the "Scissor-stance-jack" from Insanity- in fact, I remember seeing this exact move in JNL Fusion), You can also go heavier with the weights- I used 7kg and 3kg dumbbells, but will up them a bit next time. A good routine and my core felt it. Zuzka in the back row is MUCH better at the moves than the man who is doing the advanced modifications.
Caitlin, big congrats on two solid weeks of p90x, which is a huge achievement in itself! Andthat is such a good point about the stuff the kids pick up on. If my daughter chose my daily workout, she would ALWAYS opt for Jillian, as she loves the "exercise womans" [sic] and, in particular, Jillian's habit of doing countdowns. However, you're right- she does talk a lot about saddle bags and booty shorts and bingo wings and "that little pooch that you chicks don't dig"- and that really isn't chat that my wee girl should be being exposed to.
Food for thought. I do like Jillian's personality aside from those inanities. I'll pay more attention that, for sure.
That said, I quite often stop myself from doing a second daily workout session at the weekend because really, there is no need for a non-athlete to do more than an hour; it's just taking away from family time and possibly teaching my daughter to over-exercise and possibly making her feel lower down on my list of priorities than my Need for Visible Abs.
disappointed, I have the exact same food thing- sweet tooth, social overeater. However, my weight is stable, albeit at about a stone heavier than when I look really slim. Perhaps this is fine? Do you really want to look like Autumn? I doubt Autumn looks like Autumn most of the time- she would fast and not drink water before any photoshoots. And worse still- she likes LINE DANCING!
I also completely agree with you about Jillian stealing stuff! I remember smirking when doing JNL Fusion at the stupid stuff Jennifer comes out with- she says that this is all about "speed, agility and quickness." And I'm shouting at the TV, "SPEED AND QUICKNESS ARE THE SAME THING, YOU SCONE." But then, lo, and behold, what line does Jill trot out in her Cardio 1 for her new Bodyshred set? "Speed, agility and quickness!" No WAY could they both come up with that idiotic statement? I'm also seeing a lot of Insanity stuff in Bodyshred- which is a plus, to be honest. I am pleased she has finally realised that to make supermans challenging, you need to keep your damn feet off the floor.
Must give Turbojam a whirl, too! Just as an aside, this thread is going to be bad for my bank balance, what with all this talk of rainbow leopard print capri leggings and p90x and other stuff.
Purple, that is a GREAT link and again, food for thought. Seems as though it must be pretty miz to be ripped-looking.
eleanor, Bodyshred is not perfect but it is amazing and worth doing and you're right, Jillian's always been crap at stretching. I will make a habit of using Shaun T afterwards. (Have rephrased that sentence three times to make it sound less cougarish/desperate housewife-y, but couldn't.)
poppy, I am a new convert myself, but you should give Insanity Max 30 another whirl! Like you, I couldn't do it six times a week- three or four might be the sweet spot for such intense cardio.
roastie and rooners, I'm like that with choccy, too. Also wine.
Not sure I have the willpower to cut either of them out, though. How do you make yourself want to?
Argh, Christ, another novel. Sorry- promise I'll calm down soon- it's just so nice to find other people who know these workouts and understand my Shaun T love! My husband and child are watching Man U- Leicester and so I thought I'd inflict my prattle on you all.
