New thread for an (almost) new year, and almost exactly a year since the start of the original thread!

Wow Purple well done on 9.00 workout - that is commitment Star and v hardcore, I still haven't done that challenge!

Enjoy your wine Lavendar... how is everyone on this thread so hardcore with their workouts? I am so the weak link Grin

Sarahlouboo · 21/04/2016 06:47

Hi everyone! Lots of activity on here and loads of new names. I was on the thread ages ago but not really been on this year because I have been crap at exercising but very good at eating! Anyway back on MFP now and doing a mixture of different exercise and trying to keep on keeping on. I will never be able to catch up with all I missed but just wanted to pop on and say hi, and it is nice to know that you are all still here plugging away and being hardcore ThanksStarSmile

lavenderhoney · 21/04/2016 07:26

Yumy, after my wine last night I couldn't face t25 this morning! And I only had two glasses, Im such a lightweight. however I will do my run later and insanity tonight.
I don't like yoga at all! My patience levels are very low- my Pilates app is 20 min workout and I have to make myself do it.

onlywhenyouleave · 21/04/2016 10:12

Morning all Smile

Welcome Katie and hi to Sarah - lovely to hear from you Smile

Yumy I am definitely the weak link in this thread, not you Grin Some of the workout schedules of you all make me faint at the very thought. I can just about manage one T25 workout a day...

Katie am interested about BBL - what was it like and did it work?

I am still plugging away with my 5.15am T25 workouts - put it into a random workout scheduler on the internet so it has set me a random programme - so far this week, I have done Core Speed, Pyramid and this morning I did Lower Focus so it is a good mix.

I am laughing at the music comments - whoever said that Rosemary Conley used good music has hit the nail on the head. Years ago, I had 2 of her videos (one was a salsa-based one - might have been called Salsacize - and just another generic aerobic one) and the music was awesome on both. Really good songs that you know and could sing along with - made the time go much quicker although looking back, the actual exercise was rubbish - very low-impact and barely enough to break sweat but it was all the rage at the time Wink

Embarrassingly enough, the best workout DVD I had was the one that Claire from Steps brought out a few years ago which just featured Steps music - it was a mix of aerobic, combat and toning all set to Steps music (which I am quite a fan of [embarrassed]). Loved doing that but again, compared to T25, it was actually not that much of a workout.

caitlinohara · 21/04/2016 11:00

Yep, did the frigging 90 minute Yoga X, and no, it's not relaxing when you are constantly clock watching. Got bored after half an hour. This is the thing no one will admit about yoga - it is BORING. Lol at purple fast forwarding it! I've no doubt it's very good for you if you can actually do it, but although my hamstrings are pretty flexible, my hips are not, so I'm not sure how beneficial it was for me. It's only once a week, I'll try it again next week and see what I think.

Well done all.. and Lower Focus at 5:15 is pretty amazing only! I think I would have to go back to bed after. I'm not sure what's worse actually, that or 9pm! Impressive commitment.

onlywhenyouleave · 21/04/2016 11:19

I do like yoga but can't seem to get into it at home - definitely needs to be in a 'class' environment for me.

However, the T25 stretch workout is quite a good compromise - some really good stretches and you feel really good afterwards and it is only 25 minutes Wink

KatieKaboom · 21/04/2016 15:50

Thanks for the welcome!

Caitlin, , I love BFBM (Jillian Michaels' s 'Banish Fat Boost Metabolism, ' available on YouTube)! I think the slightly slower, more controlled pace of, say, Circuit 6 is what makes it such a killer. Jillian and her crew always have such fantastic form- unlike, say, JNL or all of Shaun T's vids. So you really learn how to get maximum effect from the moves with her, IMHO.

Lavender, the core stuff is hard to crack but it is important and if you can get in the habit of keeping everything tuckedin, it will sort of start to stay that way all the time (like a dancer ).

Yum, I love Zuzka. She seems very sweet and likeable, which helps me get through her workouts. I love herZCut cardio, specially the second one, which has you do four high knees and then a plank... 60 times in a row! Shock I like her yoga vids, too, because they are short. One of the reasons I never got p90x were the dark rumours about a 90-minute yoga video! Grin

Will add my impressions of BodyShred when I get home from work.

It is so NICE to have people to talk about these things with.

Does anyone else like that bit from Tabata Power (Insanity Max 30) where he steals that woman's water bottle and she just radiates rage?

disappointed101 · 21/04/2016 18:43

Hello everyone, I have been doing Jillian and Beachbody for a good few years now. I have had a spectacularly crappy past few weeks in terms of nutrition though and at a bit of a loss what to do exercise wise. I do have quite a lot of e beachbody programs. Someone suggest me something please? I need to lose a few lbs but not loads as I am at goal weight more or less. I feel yuck though and can't stop snacking. 😢 I'm going to start afresh Monday with something new. I can't believe it has taken so long for me to find this thread! Hopefully I can keep myself accountable with you guys.

yumyumpoppycat · 21/04/2016 20:01

Sarahlou Star ! Hooray welcome back you don't need to workout to post (I havent today, my rest day workout schedule is rather rest day heavy at mo;) )

Only 5.10 starts count as well hardcore in my book Grin

Welcome disappointed! What kind of workouts do you like?

disappointed101 · 21/04/2016 20:15

Thanks for the welcome yummy! I love most things beachbody though have to push myself through intense cardio programmes like max 30. Have done p90x, insanity, insanity max 30, turbofire, hammer and chisel, 21 day fix, 21 day fix extreme, p90x3, T25 and Cize. Also like Les Mills stuff and anything Jillian. Just done a pump and combat hybrid so want to do something other than that. I have so much stuff though which is why I am finding it hard to decide what to do! What are your favourite things to do?

Purpleraindeer · 21/04/2016 21:13

Hi all!
Welcome disappointed and Katie. I know exactly the bit you mean in tabata power! Did max out sweat tonight - managed to get through all of the hit the floor/tuck jumps. Miracle! Dd (aged 3) joined in. She said switch kicks were her very best favourite Confused. She maxed out at 11mins and disappeared to watch abney and teal.

Nice to see another max30 lover on the thread - i think I'm the only one who likes it. Disappointed - why don't you go onto workout scheduler (just google it) and create a hybrid? Or maybe go old school and back to p90x - not that I've done it...

Great to see Sarah back on the thread. Smile. Ignore her when she says she's not been working out - there are a LOT of workouts getting posted on mfp. Star

onlywhenyouleave · 21/04/2016 21:17

Welcome disappointed Smile I agree that if you use the workout scheduler (I can provide the link if you want) you can input which programmes you want to do, what days you want to workout and how many weeks and it produces a schedule for you. It is great and would really mix up your workouts which would give you variety.

yumyumpoppycat · 21/04/2016 21:57

Wow disappointed you could have an ultimate schedule with that bunch Shock Grin I am enjoying 22 HC, there are some flaws as Roastie has mentioned, but if you want to focus on diet for a bit a quick workout might be a good option disclaimer I am not a good person to take fitness advice from

lol Purple I actually have to agree with your daughter! Also I have had my hair cut which now means I have a shorter almost swishy ponytail making them even more fun Wink

disappointed101 · 21/04/2016 22:16

Thank you for your advice all of you! A mash up might be a good idea !

caitlinohara · 21/04/2016 22:45

Welcome disappointed, that's quite a library you have there! What did you think of Hammer & Chisel? I nearly bought it a few months ago but was put off by poor reviews on Amazon.

(sorry to go off topic, but currently reeling from news about Prince. Can't cope with losing Prince and Victoria Wood in the space of 2 days! This is the worst year EVER. Could decent famous people please stop dying now??)

Katie - I have heard lots about this Zuzka person but have never actually done any of her workouts. She looks alarmingly perfect, which kind of puts me off! But a short yoga workout sounds better than the 90 minute frickin' marathon yoga session I had to do yesterday...

Purpleraindeer · 22/04/2016 07:53

Just found out about prince this am. Sad

And a little rant from me .... Have been really disciplined with eating. Logging on mfp and below cal limit all week and actually seem to be gaining weight (c 0.5kg). Argh. I know it could be water/totm and I just need to wait and I'll start losing again blah blah but I am frustrated Angry

disappointed101 · 22/04/2016 08:11

Caitlin, the actual workouts I loved, I miss them. If there is anything negative to say, I found there wasn't much tricep work, I felt my arms were a little more flabby in the triceps. There are a nice mix of workouts so I never felt bored. Some of the workouts made me feel really empowered as I was able to increase my weight a lot than I had ever before. Another thing I found hard was it said I should be on the lowest diet calorie bracket due to my height and weight and I found myself hungry. I think I would have seen better progress eating more. I felt bulky due to lack of cardio. It is not that intense though my heart rate did go up a lot in certain workouts when working with heavy weights. It really was something completely different in terms of workout. Some people got great weight loss results BUT that seemed to be those eating more.
What I do love are the containers. It really helps with portion size and keeps me on track. I got the deluxe version so not sure if they come with the regular version. In short, if you want to mix it up and feel really strong but not necessarily lose a tonne of weight, try it. I was worried about the negative reviews. I am definitely going to do it again at another point though.
I will say though that I don't really need to lose weight. I am probably a few lbs heavier than usual due to my bad diet recently but am at maintenance more or less.
Purple, do you think maybe you need to be eating more? Maybe your body is in starvation mode?

lavenderhoney · 22/04/2016 16:18

i thought I was going for it with t25 and insanity! Clearly I have a long way to go:)

I thought tonight I might as well make a start on month 2 of insanity. I had a break last week, but with running and a bit of t25 beta. None of the workouts have buggered my knees up as much as the recovery week ones in insanity, I won't be doing that again!

So month 2. ( gulps) the only thing that keeps me going is how much it's supoosed to work and I'll see a huge difference. Not entirely convinced with the before and after I see on the web, but I hope it will be like that:)

disappointed101 · 22/04/2016 17:11

Well done Lavender...you will smash month 2! Maybe I should do a p90x/insanity hybrid. How are you finding Insanity? I struggle with pushing myself in high cardio programmes. I am worried to get my heart rate up too much. I haven't done the original insanity for a couple of years now. I remember feeling good about myself though!

caitlinohara · 22/04/2016 20:54

disappointed that's really interesting because I'm the same - I don't need to lose any weight and am more interested in gaining strength. I don't like high intensity cardio at all. Mind you, I did Kenpo X this evening from P90X and found myself worrying that it was too easy! I am still finding my feet with P90X but I find I look forward to working out in a way I just didn't with T25, so that has to be a positive.

lavender good luck with month 2 - I reckon if you stay focussed, the second month of any programme tends to be the one where you see the most improvement so I hope you can stick at it!

RoastieToastieReastie · 22/04/2016 21:07

Just catching up and busy at work atm.

Did cardio 2 yesterday hc22 (I HATE gorilla crawls) but was rubbish and very weak and wobbly, think it's this low level virus zapping my energy. Today is rest day and hoping to slot in resistance tomorrow in between painting a cabinet and work I had to take home with me.

Hi dissapointed, I've recently done a bit of a pump/combat hybrid too. I'm interested in Cize, how does it compare in difficulty to the other bb workouts you've done? Also, is it actually fun? I like the idea of a routiney workout as those use to be my favourite when I did gym classes but I didn't get great results with them.

Caitlin it's just sad news of celeb death followed by sad news this year :( I can't believe prince has died. So young :( I've been listening to a few of the golden oldies today.

Lavender I remember month 2 workouts being terrible initially but they do sort of get more manageable. Just think of it as more of the same only an extra few rounds.

disappointed101 · 23/04/2016 08:02

Hi Caitlin! I loved p90x too and had great results. They are long workouts though but I must say it is probably the best all around programme. What do you think you didn't like about T25?
Roastie, if you are used to high intensity, you might find yourself wanting more. I found it super fun but did it between extreme workouts to give my body a rest. You should definitely try it.
I'd love to hear people's opinions of bodyshred. It is on you tube apparantly

RoastieToastieReastie · 23/04/2016 10:45

Dissapointed how did Cize compare to turbo fire?

Just mid painting and decorating here since 7am and so much to do!

Purpleraindeer · 23/04/2016 10:59

Lavender - you'll be ok with mth 2 - they're longer which takes a bit of getting used to. If you've done max30 then it's just more of the same but a nice change.

My schedule said p90x3 yoga today and I couldn't be bothered. I did cvx instead. I ignored Tony saying pick a light weight. About 10mins in I realised I should have listened to him!

disappointed101 · 23/04/2016 16:00

Cize is slow paced as you learn the steps bit by bit. Turbofire is fast paced. I lost a lot of weight with Turbofire so it is a great programme for leaning out. Unfortunately I lost my tatas too which is probably another reason why I prefer weight training over straight cardio! Very fun though!
