Anyone want to join an Octoberthon thread?

Run, swim, or do some other form of exercise every day during October and then post about it.

Inspired by the increasingly inaccurately named Juneathon thread

(Juneathon rules)

I'm not actually planning on exercising every day - I'll be having 1-2 rest days each week.

Hi both, looks like you're doing well with the challenge! I've fallen off the wagon for a bit. My crazy work week turned into two and I got a bad dose of tonsillitis in the middle of it all. Just finished my antibiotics today, so I hope I'll be back to doing something productive next week. I did go for a walk for an hour today though, it wasn't very fast but I needed to do something and I definitely feel better for it.

Hope you don't get too blown about in the storm!

I feel for you Kanyes - tonsillitis is awful Sad.

We seem to have some kind of stomach bug in this household (well the DC do - I haven't succumbed yet). Makes me realise how crazily our work policies can be applied. Working from home whilst looking after a sick child is completely prohibited - you must take the day as holiday. Fair enough. However having done this (taken holiday; cancelled all meetings) I got a proper ticking off from my line manager. Apparently it was 'unprofessional' to cancel my meetings at short notice and I should have just dialled in and got on with them. So apparently when I have a sick child I'm supposed to take holiday (because I can't possibly deal with a sick child and work), and work anyway HmmConfused 'family friendly' policies my arse

Anyway, moan over. I felt better today, so got on and did Ri30 L2D6 & 6W6P L2D7 rather than having a rest day.

Oh no, Harry, how was today? Is everyone on the mend yet? Family friendly policies are great when they actually apply. Was your boss any less of a numpty today?

I got out for half an hour walk today. Not much, but a start.

Hope your recovering well Kanyes and you had a better day today Harry.

I give up. DD has come down with chicken pox while dh is away for the week. I was actually looking forward to squeezing out some time for exercise the days I was supposed to be working from home this week, but that's not going to be possible now.

Back today after two rest days (I was feeling really run down on Friday, so decided to give Jillian a miss).

I did Ri30 L2D8 & 6W6P L2D8.

Today I bought some bits for Christmassy outfits - from the kids section. Grin

I have an age 11-12 sparkly vest, an age 12-13 short-sleeved jumper with sequins on the front and some age 12-13 sparkly leggings (they are a bit baggy - I'm debating whether to see if washing them makes them a little tighter, or whether I should return them). don't worry - I won't be wearing them all at the same time

Oh dear - I've not done very well lately. I didn't get anything done yesterday (I was dealing with a domestic emergency - water dripping through the kitchen ceiling is never good).

Today I attempted level 3 of Ri30 for the first time. Oh. My. God. It is truly horrible - I really struggled. I also did 6W6P L1D9, which seemed relatively easy in comparison.

I'm hoping to be back tomorrow, but it depends on how my body reacts to the aftermath of today's circuits!

Oh no, you have my eternal sympathies about dripping ceilings...one haunted us in our last place and we have another here which just won't stay fixed. Well done for trying the new level, I hope you can move tomorrow!

I was a bit sore this morning (especially my left ankle for some reasonHmm).

I felt better by this evening - I've just done NMTZ.

I had water pouring through the kitchen light fitting from a ruptured pipe in the bathroom. Not fun. The stop cock was jammed too. All drying out now - haven't dared turn the kitchen light on, so can't assess how bad the water damage is yet. Fortunately my cleaner comes on a Tuesday, so she kindly cleared up quite a bit. I'm now ignoring it until the weekend.

OK - just had my second attempt at Ri30 L3. It isn't seeming any better yet.

Really had to force myself to keep going and move on to 6W6P L2D9 (I've decided I much prefer L1).

Been KBFFing all week, 2 x 20 min sessions every day. Yesterday and today have done workout 3, the abs one, for the first time. I have not done NMTZ for a long time, which used to be a regular once or twice a week workout for my abs, and have only been doing cardio workouts for the last few months. OMG my stomach muscles really know it! Blush
Am contemplating the 1-week Shred next week for a change - any experiences or comments Harry? I have got Ri30 somewhere but it has never been one of my go to JM workouts. I will dig it out if you think it's worth a go!
Hope everything has dried out Harry and your DD is better Kanyes.

I've never tried the 1-week shred (don't think I have that DVD). I'm quite enjoying NMTZ at the moment (which was tonight's circuit). I also like 6W6P - although I've realised that I find level 1 much easier than level 2.

Not enjoying level 3 of Ri30 yet (level 1 is OK, level 2 is fine except for the evil plank cardio circuit). My left ankle hurt again this morning (can't work out what is causing this). I'll probably have another go at it on Sunday morning.

I think everything is dry. I switched the lights on in the kitchen for the first time today, and nothing bad happened...

I finally did something! It is really horrible here today, but I did 30mins of a run/plod. I feel better than I feared after it.

How's your ankle, Harry?

Should I even ask what the 1week shred is? It sounds terrifying.

HarryLimeFoxtrot · 29/11/2015 14:52

Hi Kanyes - my ankle is OK (it aches the morning after Ri30 L3, but doesn't cause any lasting discomfort).

I'm impressed with a 30 min run in unpleasant weather. I refuse to exercise outside at this time of year (I've obviously been down Sotheby's too long - I'm getting nesh)!

Today I did Ri30 L3D3 & 6W6P L1D10.

I think I'm on course to finish both Ri30 and 6W6P by Christmas. That is my current goal anyway.

Wow, that would be great to have both done by Christmas, Harry. You'll have a 12 pack in no time Grin

I got out for a run again tonight, 4 miles which I was delighted with. It was cold and windy but not raining which was a relief.

I don't know about that Kanyes - I think I enjoy food too much (I have good muscle tone under a thin layer of fat). I'd much rather exercise than diet Grin

Today's circuits: Ri30 L3D4 & 6W6P L2D10.

I'm the same, Harry; I always wonder if the people who say being skinny is better than any food, have discovered carbs.

I went to boot camp tonight. I drove rather than running and I'm glad, we did a lot of legs and there's no way I'd have trudged back up the hill home!

I always wonder how such people justify life without cheese (one of my favourite things).

I did NMTZ this evening - I think it is becoming one of my favourite Jillian DVDs. In fact I might actually prefer it to 6W6P.

Still KBFFing and persevering with the abs workout here. Smile
Agree that dieting is not for me either hence why all the exercising!
I need to find NMTZ Harry as I did enjoy it quite a lot earlier this year!
Well done on the outdoor exercise Harry in the midst of winter! I would not even contemplate it in summer as the sight of a Lycra clad me in public would probably scare folks Blush, plus I have never been enthusiastic enough about running or cycling outdoorsy stuff to be able to keep up the routine.

I haven't stopped this evening (I've picked up children from various activities, fed them, supervised homework, made savoury muffins for a party on Friday, washed up and done a load of laundry).

I still managed to fit in some exercise: Ri30 L3D5 & 6W6P L1D12. Time for a quick shower, then bed before it all starts again tomorrow.

Oh Harry, that's not fair that you got so much done this afternoon...I feel even worse for bailing on my run! DS was up half of last night with a cough, and I ended up keeping him home today in case he was about to erupt in the pox, meaning I missed bootcamp this morning. Then the little wretch looked up at me at 11am with his cherubic little face, as he watched dinosaur stuff on Youtube and I tried to juggle work, and said "Mamma, I feel all better now. I like at home days with you". I didn't know whether to laugh or cry! Anyway, because he was home all day, I've only just finished work in the last hour. Definitely going out tomorrow.

It's funny, I used to hate exercising outside, but now I can't do it inside! The bootcamp I do is in a converted garage, and is so poorly insulated and leaky it might as well be outside, but I still miss the outdoor one I used to do. I really love coming in from a cold night and getting a scalding hot shower and mug of tea. And my face is less likely to end up tomato red! and no one can see my wobbly bits in the dark

I'm not feeling terribly motivated today. I've done Ri30 L3D6 & 6W6P L2D11, but I really had to force myself.

I'm now eating the cheese scones DD made in cookery today - they are quite nice Xmas Grin

How is your DS Kanyes? I hope he is free of the pox (he sounds adorable).

Friday ended up being a rest day - by the time I got home from work I didn't have time to fit in exercise and a shower before I went out, so the shower won.

Today I've done Ri30 L3D7 & 6W6P L1D12.

I'm finally feeling the love for level 3 of Ri30 - but probably only have one more session left before I move on to level 4.

I managed Ri30 L3D8 & 6W6P L2D12 this evening (albeit with a gap in between whilst I took DD to her swimming lesson).

It is going to be a tricky week. The pre-Christmas activities are in full swing for the DC (last week of term), and DH is in Scotland until Thursday evening. I'm not sure how much Jillian I'll fit in.

Well done Harry. Ds ended up with a pretty bad dose of pox, so I've had what feels like no sleep for the last few days. Hoping to get back on track tomorrow.
